10 on the 10th: August!

Ah, August! You are one of my least favorite months. Do you feel certain ways about numbers? I do, and eight is one of those numbers I just don’t like. Weird, I know. I think another reason I don’t like August is because it was the month we went back to school. I loved going to school, and I loved teaching more, but it was also the end of the freedom I’d had during the summer. August is the summer’s version of February, I think. Oh, Cat let me know there are actually eleven questions this month! Well, I had nine last year one month, so I think that evens it up, don’t you think?

Without further ado…

I would rather have deep fried Twinkies because the idea of eating a stick of butter makes me ill.  And, I really like Twinkies, deep fried or not, though the Twinkies of late aren’t near as good as the ones I ate when I was a kid.

This is kinda funny because I really don’t like hot dogs that much.  But, if I have to eat a hot dog, I want it cooked.  My mom used to make us “gourmet” meals of hot dogs, sliced down the length with a piece of Velveeta inserted there, and bacon wrapped around it.  She would then broil the dogs until the cheese had melted and browned.  Yummm…so many processed foods, right?  And, the only way I want a hot dog these days is if it’s cooked over a fire and downright charred!

I would rather dig for gemstones because they’re so much prettier than gold.  I think you’d have to dig a lot of gold before it would amount to much money.  But, a gemstone or two would be something I’d keep.  I do wonder, though, if I’d even recognize a gemstone in the raw!

This one is tough.  I don’t want to plant my feet in the snow ever, but I really like winter so much better than summer.  But, I do love being at the beach so I’m really torn!  I think I’m going to have to go to the beach for this one because I don’t want to literally plant my feet in the snow.

OK, I knew what I meant when I wrote this one, but it’s really rather dumb!  I think they mean the same thing as I read it again.  What I meant was to have a book that actually had chapters, but you couldn’t tell where one stopped and the next began or a book that just went on and on with no true chapters…kinda how I explain things to Nigel.

I can’t wear high heels because my big toe is fused and doesn’t bend, so I’m going to have to go with flip flops with tights.  Now, if my big toes weren’t fused, I think I’d go the high heels with tube socks.  It’s unexpected and quirky.

Well, I have worn the twins for decades.  I think the only time I’ve worn latex has been in the form of rainboots or the like.  I know my feet would be so hot and sweaty when I took the boots off so I’m going with Polly and Esther.  And, the twins drape so nicely, right?

Oh, this is easy!  I’d much rather watch a really bad movie with my bestie!  We could laugh and make fun of the bad parts.  And, we would eat CheezIts, M & Ms, Diet Coke, and all the other bad things!  Hmmm, I may have already done this!

If we’re speaking literally, I have to do it inside the lines because I’m such a rule follower.  But, if we’re speaking metaphorically, I’d rather color outside the lines because that makes life more interesting.  You can go to one country when everyone else is going to the other.  You wear orange and purple together rather than purple and yellow or orange and blue.  You eat breakfast for dinner, and dinner for breakfast.  See what I mean!

Well, I don’t like root beer at all so this one is easy. I’ll go for cold “hot” chocolate which would, basically, be a candy bar, right?

Definitely taco chips!  Have you ever had celery string stuck in your teeth?  It bugs you until you can pry that sucker out!  Besides, taco chips taste so much better than celery (unless you put peanut butter in it)!

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I usually have a theme for the Would You Rathers.  I didn’t want to use back to school because there’s such disparity now when people go back to school.  And, I have used summer before.  This time, I just came up with a bunch of random ones!  So, can we talk? Do you get those fried confections at your state fairs?  What’s the strangest thing you’ve had deep friend?  What is the worst movie you’ve ever watched? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you!

  1. I did struggle with the chapter question, lol. I guess I got it right, though, and my reply to it stands.
I imagine it’s not easy to come with new questions. As I already mentioned elsewhere, we do a daily thread in my forum and I do a bi-weekly theme challenge and it’s so hard to come up with new topics all the time!

    • Thanks, Cat! That chapter question!!! I still don’t know that I got across what I mean so I guess any answer would be right. Where is the daily thread in your forum? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.

      • It’s in the jewelry forum and in a category that’s hidden if you are not logged in. We got so many lurkers in that category specifically – probably bots most of them, but also others and we are no reality show for others, so we just didn’t feel comfortable about leaving it on public. We are just so few, anyway.

  2. We basically have cold hot chocolate every night in the summer. It’s our mushroom cocoa and I only heat it to 150 and then let it cool down while making dinner, LOL

    • I don’t know…I don’t like mushrooms at all. I know you love the nutrition you receive from them, but I just think they taste like mud. I don’t really drink hot chocolate, either, though!

  3. What a cute post! I’m with you- August was always bittersweet because it signaled the end of freedom when I was in school. I still get that feeling of, “Oh no, summer’s ending” even though I’m full-grown now, haha.

Hope you had a lovely weekend, Marsha!

    • Thanks, Ashley! It’s kinda weird I don’t like August because I love school. I think it was more my freedom was ending! Have a fabulous week!

  4. I tried Oreos deep-fried once, and I wasn’t a fan, way too sweet for me. This was fun, I had to think about these answers a bit, and for questions about the books and chapters,s I understood what it meant immediately lol.

    • Thanks, Kita! I haven’t had any of those deep fried things. I am not a fan of Oreos to begin with so I’m not sure deep frying them would make me like them better. I read your post and loved it! I’m glad you got the question about chapters. I tried really hard to make it clear and failed! You were the only one to catch onto the coloring outside the lines, too!

  6. The worst movie I have ever seen was The Titanic. Well not exactly the worse, but i watched it with my bestie. At my place, with snacks and all. And we were so bored by that movie! But we did have a good laugh.

    • Thanks, Nancy! You know what? I think I’d have to agree with you. It was just so corny which is sad because the story of the Titanic is so interesting. It was really long, wasn’t it?

  7. These cracked me up! I could never eat just butter alone! Yuck! I don’t think I would recognize a raw gemstone either! But it would be fun to look!

    • Thanks, Laura! I know…I just can’t imagine eating it because at least some of it would be melted, right? I was thinking about raw diamonds and how they just look like rocks to me. So, I figured other gemstones were a lot like that.
