I can’t believe we are already on the tenth of June! It honestly feels like we were just celebrating Nigel’s birthday in February. Life seems so much brighter these days. It’s funny how that happens. Nigel is now off the major pain meds, and the loopiness is gone (thank goodness). He still gets up several times a night (as men of a certain age do). I, of course, get up with him because he’s still wobbly on his pins (I love that expression). I’m just so happy he’s feeling better and even feels like so many of the things that have plagued him for so many years are coming to an end. But, I digress as usual. This is a first for me for 10 on the 10th…photos! I will give just a bit of narrative for each, but most of them speak for themselves. I’m not going in any particular order.

I had to make a gallery of photos of Nigel. Yes, it’s a rare sighting on the blog. He doesn’t want to have a “digital presence.” Hahaha…little does he know his iPhone has already done that. These are selfies we’ve taken from various places, including a Willie Nelson concert, the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, London, and Winterlights at Newfields. The goofy photo was taken on the front porch of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. He did that to send to our grandson, W! He is the reason I have most of the other things I love! But, I love him for himself not what he gives me. He has been part of my life since May 26th, 1973, and I hope he’s a part of it for many, many more.
Wrap it up, Marsha!
Well, that was easier than I thought. I am so glad I didn’t make the photos specific to the month of June, though! So, can we talk? Do you have a favorite style of decor? How do you feel about trees? How do you feel about florasl? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

I love a peek in others life! We have one tree in our garden. I’m more of open plan garden. But I love all the green that surround our home.
Thanks, Nancy! Your garden is beautiful with those large hedges. I would be happy there…drinking tea and eating scones!
Lots of lovely things and lots of wonderful memories.
Thank you, Rosie! I’m really thankful for smartphones with cameras. I was terrible about documenting things with a “real” camera.
Great pictures! I’m glad you included Jack 😁 We wouldn’t want to have den Dekan judge you again.
So many clothes and boots! I’m genuinely and unapologetically nosy, do you have a walk in wardrobe?
I love your birch, they are such elegant trees.
https://catswire.blogspot.com/
Thanks, Cat! I couldn’t leave Jack out! He is so smart and makes me smile all the time! Yes, I do have a walk in closet. It’s embarrassingly huge! But, everything is there and organized. Some of the things in it are decades old, and I still wear them.
We had five or six birches at our house up north. Our son worked at a wholesale nursery, and he would rescue “dead” trees. He knew I would nurse them back to health. Of course, they were among the first to be cut down by the new owners.
I didn’t mean to judge, I’m just fascinated!
What a pity about the trees. A friend of mine told me about a place in her neighborhood. First things the owners did were cut down a bunch of big old Redwoods.
No judgement taken, Cat! It’s ridiculously large, but we had the room! Oh, my goodness…cutting down old Redwoods…that would make me weep. I actually did cry the first time I saw our old house and what they had done to the yard.
This is fabulous. So many good things to love. I’ll have my post up tomorrow to share!
Thanks, Joanne! I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do and if I’d even come up with 10. It was so much easier than I thought it would be.
Marsha, I am so glad that Nigel is feeling better! Each day will get better too and that has to be so huge for both of you.
I really like Jo Malone but noticed the staying power was pretty weak so I never took the plunge. Thanks for sharing that the body cream is an option – I am going to look into it!
xo,
Kellyann
Thanks, Kellyann! It has been a long, long few years, but I really do think we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes, definitely try the body creme. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way. It smell so good, and the moisturizing part lasts for a long time. I don’t like the hand cream quite as much. My favorite scent has been discontinued so I use it sparingly (it’s grapefruit). One last tip…buy it when Macy’s has their Friends & Family event. It’s a fairly good savings. Nordstrom used to price match, but they haven’t the last couple of times.
I love seeing what you love! These pics of Nigel are fabulous and loving your gallery wall and MacKenzie Childs pieces. We sell knock offs at the boutique I work at. Lol! I cannot get over how organized your closet is. You are a dream wardrobe client!
https;//www.kathrineeldridge.com
Thank you, Kathrine! I have loved MacKenzie Childs for a long time, but I hadn’t bought any. I finally bought something during a clearance sale, and then I was hooked. Luckily, they make good gift suggestions for my kids! I do wish I could have the gallery wall in the living room, but it’s such a strange room that it wouldn’t have worked. My closet is very organized so I can find almost anything at a moment’s notice. That’s not to say I’m not surprised at finding things I’ve forgotten I’d bought!
This is so fun! I am hoping to put my own post up later today.
I love all of your things. And I love hearing that your husband is doing well and that you feel the end of so many of his issues is in sight. That has to feel so so good. Like Wyatt’s surgeon told us, short term pain for long term gain.
Thanks, Erin! I honestly feel like the weight of a million little monsters has been lifted from my shoulders. We still have a way to go, but the change in him has been dramatic. I saw your post and loved it!
I love how you used photos for this one. So good to see your hubby too.
XOXO
Jodie
Thanks, Jodie! I wasn’t sure how it would go, but I really ended up liking it. Mike doesn’t really like to have his photo taken, but I was able to find several where he was actually smiling.
These are all wonderful photos, and I am happy to hear that your husband is doing better. Your doggie is adorable, and I am very impressed with how well organized your closet is! I hope that you are enjoying your day so far too!
Thank you so much, Caroline! I am so happy Nigel is finally feeling better. My closet is one of those places I have to keep organized or it would be pure chaos! I hope your week is fabulous!
I need a good staying power perfume. I think I have one Jo Malone and that’s it but I rarely put it on I need to do better. Look at the doggy so cute! This was a fun one because I had to dig for some photos I take so many pics of clients and less of just reg everyday photos. I need to do better and this post reminded me to do that.
Thanks, Kita! If you want Jo Malone to stay, use the body creme instead. I have heard of putting a little bit of vaseline on and then spraying it with perfume for staying power. I need to take more regular photos, too.

Pleased to hear that Nigel’s recovery is going well . Loved your family photo wall , so many happy memories.
Your boot collection is most impressive . Jack looks quite the character . Our dogs can drive us to distraction but we wouldnt be without them. Like you I cant imagine a garden without the joys of having trees .
Thank you, Jill! I love going into that room just to look at my kiddos. I need to add some other photos to the other wall. I love have Jack around because he’s like another person. Well, he thinks he really is a person. Yes, trees are such an important part of my life, beginning with lessons from my dad on how to water them.
This is a great post! I loved looking at the things you loved and I am so happy to hear of Nigel’s improvements. You’ve had a long road. I am sorry you have to get up with him but maybe that will end soon, too? My hub keeps drinking liquids until bedtime and I’m like – cut yourself off after dinner!
Thanks, Amy! It has definitely been a long road, but now I can see the end of it. I’m not sure Mike really has to go, but he thinks he does so we get up! Even that has gotten less as time goes on.
I’m so glad Nigel is feeling better and making progress! I love your family photo wall, and your pup is adorable! I collected Rae Dunn items for years, but they’re all in storage now because I’m tired of them. Makenzie Childs is more my vibe now!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thank you, Jill! It’s been such a relief to see him doing so much better. I often thought about picking up some Rae Dunn things, but I just never did. I wonder if I will feel the same way about MC in a few years.
Loved all these photos and the glimpses of the stories behind them! Isn’t that the way with decorating? I love primitive style – and other styles too – but I don’t have the knack of pulling those looks together in a coherent way and it winds up looking cluttered. Boo. Your primitive cabinet looks fantastic! Glad that Nigel is doing so much better and I did enjoy seeing him featured in your photos.
Thanks, Kym! It’s a rare sighting of him, right? Those were such happy times for us. I’m looking forward to making new wonderful happy times. One of my moms (of a former student) decorates everything in the primitive style. Her home is amazing! I think a lot of it is thrifted, too.
