Well, as I write this, Nigel has already changed the clocks for the end (or is it the beginning) of Daylight Savings Time. I honestly don’t understand the reasoning behind this. What I do know is I hated it when I was teaching. My kids had a hard time getting to sleep while it was still light out, and they were also out later at night. The weather has been up and down as far as temperatures go. We have also had lots of rain which would be good if this were April, right? Honestly, I will take precipitation in any form as we were far below the average snowfall for the winter. That’s got to affect the water aquifers.
I have lots of fun with the Would You Rather format, but I also think it would grow stale if I used it every month. And, I was a little stumped, running low on time, and just went with an easy prompt for this month. I wasn’t quite as late as last month, but I got it out when I said I would! I do hope you’ll play along with this month’s 10 on the 10th! Please either link up your post (and any others you’d like), comment, or email me your answers.
Without further ado…
Green isn’t really one of my favorite colors. I have very little of what I consider to be green in my closet. Give me a teal, though, and I’m in love! So, surprise, surprise! There aren’t any clothing items on my list! These aren’t in any particular order, either.
- I love plants. As you know, I’ve been guilty of murdering quite a few in my house lately. But, there are a few who are surviving and even thriving. This little beauty is a Monstera and seems to be loving life! Do you remember the original “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?” I didn’t watch it, but for some reason, I caught one little segment when one of the hosts said there was absolutely no reason for silk or dried flowers in your house. I beg to differ! I love my silk (probably more polyester, though) plants. They add those nice little pops of color in the house.
- I know many would say this is the same thing, but I beg to differ! I love green plants outside. Our grass really never did get brown and crunchy this year. These are some of my hyacinths and my creeping phlox. I planted all of this last year so I’m excited to see what happens this year!
- OK, this one is a bit of a cheat. I love candles of just about any color. This is one I’d gotten at Joann’s just for decor! But, it smells so good. I can’t really tell, now, what the scent is because all of the candles surrounding it also have a scent. I like the little tableau these candles create.
- I love glass jars. I don’t know what it is about them, but I just find them so interesting. I actually like all colors of glass jars, but this green (I know it looks blue) Ball jar is one of my favorites. Did you know Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, was named for the Ball brothers? They were industrialists and philanthropists who manufactured…you guess it…glass jars (among other things). Of course, here in Indiana, the university also has another name…Testicle Tech! But, I digress!
- There is nothing surprising here! I love Christmas trees (Christmas house tour here). While I have often toyed with the idea of keeping a tree up all year round and decorating it seasonally, I haven’t ever done that. This is a clay Christmas tree one of the fabulous art teachers I worked with made one year. She was amazing and not only created her own awesome items, but she taught the students so many different skills and techniques.
- This green clay pot with a lid was thrown by my oldest son when he was in high school. I was so thrilled he gave it to me because I know he was very proud of it. Check out the ridges on the lid. And, yes, that lid fits perfectly!
- Jade is one of my favorite rocks. Nigel bought this little guy for me when we were newlyweds. I think we got it in Frankenmuth, MI. I think one of his antennae or eyes, depending on the kind of snail he is, was broken off many, many years ago.
- One of my favorite places in the world is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. When we ate breakfast one morning, I’d noticed these pretty little vases on the table. I didn’t get one the first year we were there. Luckily, I grabbed (well, I paid for it) one the last time. I need to find some small red geranium flowers to put in it.
- Green accessories seem to play an important part in my closet! I love prasiolite (green amethyst) and spent lots of time building up my collection. I have a couple of rings but forgot to get photos of them. And, of course, I love my two pairs of green boots. I wrote this post a little over a year ago about my feelings re: green shoes! Oh, my goodness!
- I do not like to cook at all. I think I may have mentioned that before. But, when I do cook, I like to have the right implements. I finally caved and bought an Always pan in sage. I also have a Lodge cast iron skillet but find I don’t really use it that much. I had gotten my daughter a mini duo for Christmas. Neither of us realized it would be two small-ish pans. If you’re going to buy anything, don’t buy that! I received points, and the Christmas sales were still running when I bought my pan so I paid about half price for it. This is not a sponsored post, but, let me tell you, my friends, this pan is amazing! You have to kinda get used to it because nothing sticks to it. The first time I used it to make Nigel scrambled eggs, I was chasing those little boogers (ewww…bad imagery) around with the spatula that comes with the skillet. I had used about a teaspoon of butter. I don’t even use that anymore. I just pour the whipped up eggs right into the skillet, and nothing sticks! I prefer to use my own wooden spoons, though.
You may remember I only had nine items on my December 10 on the 10th. So, I’m including an eleventh this month to balance it all out! I love Kermit the Frog. There…I said it! He is a couple of years older than me but wears the years so well. I always loved this particular face because, in my head, I think look like that a lot of the time!
Wrap it up, Marsha!
So, there you have it…my ten favorite green things and an extra! Here in my part of the world, things are getting greener every day. I can’t wait until my hostas poke their heads out of the ground. And, I totally forgot…I like my green eyes! I also try to do my part to be green by reusing, recycling, and reducing (OK, I may fail at that one a bit). It is a bit disheartening to hear that recycling may not be all that successful. But, I have to think it does more good than harm. So, can we talk? How do you feel about the color green? Are you sometimes green with envy at others’ gardens as I am? Do you collect anything green? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as I can!

Pingback:10 on the 10th: Bein’ Green – Shelbee on the Edge
I love this prompt! Green is my forever favorite color! I loved seeing all your beautiful green favorites even if green is not your favorite. This was a fun one!
Shelbee
I knew you would love this one, Shelbee! After I had published it, I came up with other green things, but 11 is enough! Heading over to read yours soon!
Thanks, my friend!
I didn’t jump in this week because I hate the color green but you had so many good shares and ideas.
I love that pan but would need it in a different color 😂😂
The school colors of my Alma mater were green and gold and I hated wearing the gear because of the green!!!
Hahaha!!! You sound like me and beige! The only beige things I like are chocolate chip cookies…they’re beige, right? I was torn on colors for the pan but decided on green because my walls are…wait for it…green! I honestly wasn’t prepared for this pan to be so good!
My school colors were maroon and gold. But, I graduated in 1976 so we wore red, white, and blue gowns…they were hideous!
Thanks, Lisa!
You hate green!!!!! What!! Lol. It’s my favorite!
Hold on!!! I didn’t say I hated green…I just don’t gravitate toward it. Given the choice between green and purple, I’m almost always going to choose purple! I guess when I say green, I’m thinking of Kelly green which is a green I just cannot wear!
Thanks, Erin!
I think you need to add green to your closet. Obviously you’d like it in your home even in your cooking essentials and especially outside so it’s time to bring it into your closet. Until totally doesn’t count, haha!!
You didn’t include your yarn and knitting, do you have any green there?
Xoxo
Jodie
I have some green things, but I don’t find myself reaching for them very often. And, you know what? I don’t have any green yarn. I used up what I had in a scrapghan! I’m trying not to buy any more yarn (now that I’ve discovered the good stuff) until all of the other is used up. I’m getting there!
Thanks, Jodie!
I used Kermit too! I had a lot of fun with this prompt. I have a whole lot of green since I like nearly all shades of both blue and green and any combination of the two.
I almost forgot Kermit, and he was the very first thing I thought of. I also meant to include cucumbers because they are my very favorite. I always order extras on salads and sometimes steal Mike’s!
Thanks, Joanne!
Love all your green! That snail is so cute!
Thank you, Laura! I always seem to lose him and have to go looking for him. He was hiding in the hutch this time!

Kermit is my favorite he be giving so much shade. I love Christmas trees also I tried to do a different color one year the dusty one and the mess it made I went right on back to my reg green tree.
Oh, I love those Christmas trees, too! But, I’ve seen the mess they make so I skip them. They are so pretty, though! I think you should definitely get that jacket from J Crew! That is a stunning color of green!
Thanks, Kita!
I’m a day behind in posting! I have Kermit as one of my ten, too! I cannot handle any scented candles . . .actually, any scented things at all due to allergies. I love that green pan. I’m not familiar with that brand. I’ll have to look it up!
Thanks, Lisa! My best friend cannot tolerate really sweet smelling candles as they give her migraines. Lots of people have those allergies…luckily, I don’t. I am here to tell you this pan is magic! I hope it stands up to use for years and years. I’ll be over to your blog as soon as I get caught up…life, you know!
I love all the things you love too! Your plants looks wonderful! I can get enough in my art space.

Thank you, Kathrine! I love plants and used to have so many in my last house. The lighting here isn’t as good nor is the water. I need to get some more this summer!
I really wanted to participate in this one but I ran out of time! Green is my favorite color!! There is so much green in our house… lol.
O.M.G. I love that snail!!!!! It is adorable!!
Thanks, Erin! Actually, the vast majority of our house has one shade of green or another! The living room, kitchen, and dining “room” are all open space (which I detest). They are Ancient Marble by Sherwin Williams. It’s a nice sage green.
I am pretty sure we bought that snail in Frankenmuth one of the first few years we were married. That means it’s older than you are!
The green dish wear is so very pretty and unusual. Every time I see a pan in a unique color, I get excited and think just maybe…. But I know I’d get all grumbly the minute something spilled on it. Yup, I’m that girl. LOL
Thanks, Daenel! Oh, I think you’d love this pan! It washes clean as easily as things move around in it!
