10 on the 10th: March!

I very much dislike the end or the start of Daylight Savings Time! I don’t understand its purpose, and why we even do it. All I know is it messes up my body clock for weeks…both spring and fall. I keep hearing that we’re getting rid of it, but y’all know how politician work…especially in this country! I’d be pushing up daisies before this is ever taken care of! What a way to start off an irrational post, right? I have absolutely no idea what I was thinking when I came up with this prompt! Of all the silly things I could have picked, that’s what I chose! So, if you struggled, please know same, girl, same!

Without further ado…

This may be cheating, but I used to have this irrational idea that we would reach a certain point where we would begin to relive our lives in a backward motion.  It’s kinda like a rollercoaster, I think.  You’d go up, up, up, then the down, down, down part would be going back in time.  I honestly thought I’d get to relive my teenage years.  I went into a major funk when I finally realized that was never going to happen.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

Whew! That was a tough one! I promise April will be an easy one. I have no idea what it will be, but it won’t be like this one! Nosirree! So, can we talk? Do you think being irrational is increasing in this world? Or, do you think we just hear more about it? Even if you didn’t participate, is there something about which you feel irrational? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

  1. Isn’t it a relief to see other people can be just as irrational as you? I liked the “reliving” idea.
I didn’t list that because I only just remembered it, but as a small kid I kept asking my mother how we could be sure that we were not just someone else’s dream and what would happen to us if they woke up? She couldn’t really give me an answer except that that wasn’t going to happen, the thought upset me for quite a while. Much later I found others who had had the same idea which was also a relief.

    • Thanks, Cat! I have no idea where that reliving thing came from, but I was seriously down for a while after I realized it wasn’t going to happen. I have had that same thought occasionally, but it hasn’t ever stuck around. It always helps when you find someone else who feels the say way, doesn’t it?

  2. Yeah… I decided not to participate this month because I drew a complete blank… which is weird because I have plenty of irrational fears (and still sleep with a night light on in the next room because I don’t like the dark either).

  3. I enjoyed reading through your list and I relate to a few fears you mention here, Marsha—especially claustrophobia. I’m not sure how this started or when, but I have tried my best to battle it as I love the underwater world. It takes me ages to get used to the snorkel mask on my face before I can set off into the blue (very deep breaths)! I’m also a little bit grumpier, haha and find myself tut-tutting and getting irritated at things which probably wouldn’t have bothered me when I was younger – it’s pretty funny really.

    • Thanks, Alison! I think snorkeling looks like so much fun, but I know I could never do it. Well, I shouldn’t say never because one never knows. But, it would take a lot to get me to try it. Hmmm…I think I’m grumpier with my husband, but that’s because we’re always together. I am definitely more outspoken now!

  4. I actually really like this prompt although I haven’t written my post yet. Maybe I’ll get to it right now!

  5. It goes to show that being human is hard, LOL.
I never like to put my face in the water when swimming, and I’m not even claustrophobic.
    XOXO
    Jodie

    • Thanks, Jodie! I used to love to swim, but the claustrophobia got so much worse after the experience at Mammoth Cave.

  6. Oh my word, the closet thing — I hang all my clothes the same way, with buttons buttoned and snaps snapped. All of the same colors are together in alphabetical order. Prints are labeled by the color that jumps out at me first. It drives The Hubs nuts, but I can get dressed in the dark and come out matching {I know this is true because I’ve done it before}. LOL I don’t know if it’s left over from Army life or what. But the precision is real.

    • OK, you took it a step farther than me. Now, I’m thinking…do I need it in alphabetical order? I just have to have everything just so, or it will poke at me until I go in and fix it! You are amazing to be able to get dressed in the dark! That is a skill!

      Thanks, Daenel!

  7. We listen and we don’t judge as the kids say lol. This was a hard one but fun. Loved seeing that we really are just normal folks lol

    • Thanks, Kita! It was definitely a hard one! And, I realized I could have gone on and on after reading other people’s lists!

  9. I am afraid of swimming in lakes and oceans and anything that is not a pool. Because I am afraid of fish. LOL. Like I will shriek if one come nears me if we are swimming, so I just don’t do it now.

Also how mean of that guy to make you hold that snake!! We had a school assembly with animals and reptiles and I was the only staff member who would volunteer to hold the snake. I went up on the stage and the darn thing went down my shirt and the guy had to help me get it out. It was a moment. I was not upset about the snake, more the down my shirt and had to have a strange man help me retrieve it in front of the whole school that was the problem!

    • Oh, I totally forgot that one. I hate swimming in lakes more because of the seaweed. That just freaks me out! I love being in the oceans, but it seems like jellyfish are so much more prevalent these days. That guy was really irritating. He isn’t the man in the photo in my post about reinvention. Larry was a gem. The other guy was just arrogant and a real know-it-all. Oh, my goodness! Were the kids still around as he was trying to get the snake? I’m sure that made for interesting talk around the dinner table that night!

      Thanks, Erin!

  10. What a great prompt! I can relate to so many of these – especially being laughed at and claustrophobia! I would die if I had to hold the snake!

    Jill – Doused in Pink

    • Thanks, Jill! The weird thing about the snake was that the interior was moving even though the exterior wasn’t. I was so afraid I was going to faint or vomit and traumatize the kindergartners! Not my most flattering photo, but I had to include it!

  11. Thanks for sharing your fears. I would love to see your closet since you are obsessed with keeping things neat. You need to rub off on me!

    https://www.kathrineeldridge.com

    • Thanks, Kathrine! I try to keep it neat, but it somehow always is a mess on the floor! I’m not sure people would want to see my closet, but maybe…

  12. I enjoyed reading through your post… irrational or not, I share lots of your fears! You had me giggling over and over! Thanks, Marsha!
