I’m so proud of myself. I seem to be almost on top of stuff lately! Sure, I’m way behind reading blogs and commenting. I’m also behind responding to comments on my blog. But, I got the 10 on the 10th out relatively early, and I’m not writing this at the 11th hour (it’s the 10th hour)! Nigel and I spent the day on the road today. You’ll probably all think we’re crazy, but we still have the same PCP (Primary Care Physician) that we had up north. That means we travel 2.5 hours each way to see him. But, have you ever had your PCP call you on their own time to check up on you? Nigel has. We always tell him when he retires, we have a room for him. Sure, he’ll have to share it with Jack, but I don’t think Jack will mind! Anyhoo, I had to have some tests run so we drove to the nearest facility still in that huge hospital conglomerate which was still about 1.5 hours away. So, it was a long day especially when you consider the time we hit traffic in Indianapolis! But, I digress. For once, I didn’t struggle too much with answering these. I usually do OK with Would You Rathers.

Without further ado…
Would you rather live in a tiny house in the country or on a boat on a river or lake?
I would rather live in a tiny house in the country. The hardest part of that would be paring down my clothes unless I had a separate tiny house just for my clothes and footwear. And, of course, I’d need a full size shower and a real toilet! No chemical toilets for me! I could make do with a couple of burners and small fridge. Nigel would be happy with a large-ish deck so he could soak up the sunshine and do some grilling. I love trees and miss being surrounded by them. There is a peacefulness I find there I can’t find anywhere else.
Would you rather be a character in a Shakespeare play or a Stephen King movie adaptation?
Although I’ve read very little Shakespeare, I have read enough Stephen King to know I wouldn’t want to be in any of his movie adaptations. He writes scary stuff! I think I rather fancy being Portia as I can be a bit argumentative. Of course, there are the Three Witches…I could pull that off quite easily…especially first thing in the morning! I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here…wait! How about Titania, Queen of the fairies! I love the idea of having wings and wearing floaty sheer things!
Would you rather your kitchen was full of all black appliances or all pink appliances?
Oh, this is easy! I would go for the pink appliances without a doubt though I’d rather have turquoise or purple! I’ve never had black appliances, and I think they work in the right kitchen. I just pink, turquoise, or purple would be really cool, especially if they were Smeg! And, wouldn’t they be fabulous in my tiny house?
Would you rather be allergic to cake or chips?
Hmmm…this isn’t really that hard, but yet it is. I can and do go for weeks and months without either of these things. But, sometimes, a craving for one or the other will hit. And, like the old commercial, you really can’t eat just one chip. But, a cake…well, it can be all different kinds of flavors with yummy different kinds of frostings. I think I’m going to have to go with chips because nothing said I couldn’t have pretzels instead on those days I needed a salty and crunchy snack.
Would you rather have a five minute conversation with your past self or your future self?
OK, this is a hard one. No, it isn’t. I would rather have a five minute conversation with my past self though it doesn’t really say when in the past. I’m going to go with 25 years ago. I would tell me not to regain the weight, to live life to the fullest because the sh*t is going to hit the fan with no end in sight in the current times, to spend the money because it isn’t much good now anyway, to hold off retirement for one year, to give up on friendships that really weren’t friendships, and to tell Mom to go to the hospital much sooner than she did the last time and to not give up because she has so many beautiful great-grandbabies and great-great grandbaby to meet.
Would you rather be rich or famous?
I would definitely prefer to be rich, and I mean filthy, disgustingly rich as in can buy anything I want in the world in multiples rich! And, then, I would spend the rest of my life giving it away. I would, maybe, take a trip around the world as inexpensively as possible, and, I would make sure my kids and grands were OK. I wouldn’t give them so much that they were filthy disgustingly rich, though. I would give them seed money. There’s so much more to giving money away than keeping it squirreled away. If you doubt me, try giving some cash to a desperate mom in the check out lane. You’ll see exactly what I mean.
Would you rather drive a brand new big, big truck or a slightly used small car?
Once upon a time, Nigel had a brand-new big truck…not a big, big truck…just a big truck. I drove it a time or two and hated it. I like small cars that can move in and out of traffic easily. I have no problem with driving a used car. If I could find a 1999 black Saab 9-3 with low mileage, no rust, well maintained, and in fantastic working order, that would be my rather!
Would you rather live with your parents or your kids?
Given my age, and the fact my parents are gone, I should choose my kids, right? But, let’s just wave a magic blog wand, and my parents are alive and well. I would choose to live with them just so I could ask them all the questions I now have. I want to know their favorite colors. I only know Dad didn’t like blue. I would want to find out their true meet cute love story. Somehow or other, the version I remember is that my mom was hanging out at a bar with her telephone operator friends, and Dad walked in. According to family urban legend, Mom was also engaged. This could all be a dream I had, too! I just would like to talk to them and truly get to know them as people not as the memories I have of them.
Would you rather have an ugly tattoo where everyone could see it or a beautiful one that no one could see?
Hahaha!!! Does it count I already have a beautiful one no one can see (including me)? I would love to have another one no one could see, but this time I’d put it somewhere I could see it! I’d really love to get a couple more tattoos, but Nigel doesn’t like them. He’s such a spoilsport!
Would you rather eat a peanut butter and Spam sandwich or a strawberry jelly and lettuce sandwich?
OK, these are both disgusting. I remember liking Spam when I was a kid, but the thought of it now makes me want to vomit. I don’t really like strawberries that much, either. I do love a good peanut butter and lettuce sandwich…I was introduced to those in grade school. It’s a lot like peanut butter on celery just with some bread! Crud…I still have to answer. If the Spam is fried really hard and crunchy, I’ll go with the peanut butter and Spam sandwich!
Wrap it up, Marsha!
I think this may have been the easiest 10 on the 10th ever…at least, for me! The only problem is now I want pink Smeg appliances! Or, maybe turquoise! And, I do wish I could talk with my parents even if it were only for one day. There really are so many things I just didn’t know about them, and I wish I did. So, can we talk? Have you ever tried Spam? What would you have to have in a tiny house? How do you feel about colored appliances? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

Looks again as if we have some things in common!
I’m going to visit you and your pink appliances in the country, though, and you can visit me and my black appliances on my canal boat. Then we’ll rehearse the witch scene together, show each other our tattoos, and plan who to give money to next 😉
https://catswire.blogspot.com/
Hahaha!!! I will definitely come visit you on your canal boat. That one was a little tough because I’ve watched lots of YouTube videos of those boats. Oh, we would have so much fun…you could help me brush up on what little German I remember, too! Wouldn’t it be something if we were related? I don’t really know from which area of Germany my great-grandparents emigrated. I’m really curious now about that tattoo!!
Thanks, Cat!!!
I don’t think that’s crazy at all; I was absolutely willing to do that to keep the boys’ PCP when they were small. He was moving pretty far away and we just loved him but he assured me that the neighborhood he was going to be working in wasn’t one that I would be safe to bring to the boys to. Good PCP’s can be so hard to find– heck, in our area just finding a PCP is hard to do! I had all black appliances for a time and I loved how it looked in our kitchen; now we’re pretty much 1/2 and 1/2 between black and stainless. I have zero desire to ever be famous but I’d certainly take rich! It would be fun to try and spend it on travel and also help out people who are struggling. I have never ever heard of a peanut butter and lettuce sandwich!
Thanks, Joanne! Our kids keep trying to convince us to change to a PCP down here, and we probably should as we certainly aren’t spring chickens. All of our specialists, though, are down here so there’s that. But, finding a new PCP will not be fun as they don’t all accept Medicare and what if we don’t click with them. It’s just hard. I think black appliances work in the right kitchen. At our last house, we had slate which was a very dark grey. I liked it because it didn’t show fingerprints. I opted for stainless steel and am regretting it because it’s never clean! Oh, you really need to try a peanut butter and lettuce sandwich…just make sure the lettuce is really dry. I think you’ll love it!
That was a fun post. For me, Small house, small car, pink appliances, Shakespeare, future self, live with parents to help them. Can’t decide on the others.
Thanks, Rosie! We share a lot of the same answers. I read the questions to my husband, and he was almost 100% right in guessing my answers.
I always love hearing your answers because you write like you’re talking to someone.
Xoxo
Jodie
Thanks, Jodie! I’m so glad to hear that because that’s exactly how I want to come across. When I was teaching, I would have called it “voice!”
If our former PCP was within any kind of driving distance, I would have stuck with them! Although thankfully I really like my new PCP here. I did stick with my orthopedic surgeon even after we moved but to be fair I just had one more follow up appointment left. I fell hard a couple weeks ago and was worried that I’d damaged the artificial knee, and if I’d needed a revision I would have gone to that same surgeon six hours away!
I found these questions pretty easy to answer, except for the last one, and have many similar answers. I chose the black appliances, but I don’t like pink all that much. I love how you answered about living with your parents. Very sweet and thoughtful and I bet if my parents were gone I would have chosen that as well.
Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Thanks, Kym! I’m glad you didn’t damage your knee. Both of my knees are a little uncomfortable but not in need of replacement. They just hurt. My dad has been gone for almost 51 years, and Mom passed 21 years ago so it’s been a long, long time. There are just so many questions I never thought to ask. I’m so glad you played along this month!
I love these and this one was fun. Made me think a little there because I’m like do I want to live with my kids its a no lol. Great seeing your answers and can’t wait to join in.
Thanks, Kita! I just read yours and loved your answers. I’m so glad you play along!

I love all your answers! Especially the one when you speak to your younger self. I would have said something like that too!
https://www.kathrineeldridge.com
Thanks, Kathrine! I would have given my younger self quite the talk…probably would have gone on for much longer than five minutes!
So fun! Love your answers! I’m with you on pink appliances, allergic to chips, and being rich!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thanks, Jill! I just think pink appliances would make you happy to be in the kitchen. Of course, I also think teal or purple would be cool, too! I’d love to be just filthy stinking rich so I could give almost all of it away. What joy that would be!
Hi, Marsha – This was funny and very entertaining. I did have to eat Spam when I was a kid because my Dad was working as an artist at the time. He gave up on making a living from it because he had four kids. So he became an art teacher and then the kids of every age he tried were so messy and difficult that he ended up teaching general ed. Loved these fanciful thoughts – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Thanks, Angie! My grandpa raised beef cattle so we always had beef. I remember Mom would buy Spam as a treat!!! I really liked it, but I don’t know that I could handle it now. I am weird about touching raw meat. That’s sad your dad had to give up art to teach it and then gave that up to teach general ed. I hope he had some “keepers” in all of his classes. It’s a tough job, but I loved it, and I hope your dad did, too.
