I hope you don’t get tired of hearing about the Indianapolis Museum of Art! I am so excited, stoked, and totally thrilled to be a docent. This past week, I had two different trainings. One resulted in me being certified as a docent who can do Gallery Conversations. At first, I was a little nervous as I thought it meant I needed to be an expert on all the different pieces of art in a gallery or two or even three! What I discovered is I can make it what I want it to be. It’s exactly what it says…it’s a conversation that takes place in the galleries. The docent I was shadowing gave me some pointers and turned me loose a couple of times. I think I may have surprised her by my enthusiasm! Anyway, I will probably spend some time in the Design Gallery where you will find the Baas work above. I have done presentations on several pieces up there and find it so uniquely fun! I don’t have to know everything about it. I am just initiating conversations, reading the room (in other words, leave people alone who don’t want to talk), and interacting with guests! I haven’t scheduled one yet as my schedule is really full the next few weeks. But, I can’t wait to get started!
The lineup…

For her Style Imitating Art choice, Marsha selected At the Edge of the Brook by Bouguereau. She and her fellow curators then created looks. You can see and read more at Marsha in the Middle.
