Fashion Files!

Welcome to the very first Fashion Files hosted by Amy and me. If you don’t know Amy, her blog is Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. I don’t really remember when I discovered her blog, but I really enjoy it. As some of you know, Kellyann and Jill used to host this link party. But, they moved their blogs to Substack. It seems like fashion link parties are slowly disappearing, and I didn’t want that to happen to this link up. I was happily surprised when Amy agreed to co-host with me!

Last week’s looks…

I’m starting with Wednesday as the new Fashion Files will be on Tuesdays. I’m hoping to capture each day’s look and a little of what I did that day. I promise it will be very little!

Wednesday – I had been looking forward to this day for a couple of weeks. When you hear what it was, you’ll think I’m a little touched! As y’all know, I twisted my right knee almost two years ago on the flight to Ireland. It hasn’t been the same since. It’s been x-rayed, and I definitely have arthritis in it. My doctor thinks the meniscus is probably torn a bit, but if she sent me on to an orthopedic surgeon, they’d replace my knee right away because of the arthritis. So, I get steroid shots. I try to wait as long as possible, but when I can barely walk or straighten my leg, I know it’s time. I actually wore a pair of J Jill wide leg pants from a couple of years ago so I could pull them up above my knee. I changed into these old Old Navy jeans when I got home. Guess who influenced me to buy this top from Old Navy? If you guessed Amy, you’d be right! I think she has it in at least three colors! I also wore it with the matching skirt in this post.

Commodeling!

Thursday – Yes, it’s another pair of horseshoe jeans…I love this floral design! I got a pedicure that day so I needed another pair of pants that could be pulled way up. I haven’t had a pedicure since last August. They redid the salon, replacing all the chairs, including the ones the techs sit on. I really like this tee, but it is a bit hard to actually style (rather than just wearing it). It’s too short to tuck, and yet it’s too long to just wear. Maybe, it needs to be under a pinafore or something. I don’t know. I just like it. It’s an old tee from Loft.

Friday – I don’t think I did much of anything except pick up an order from Kroger. It’s 4 times fuel points on Friday so I always try to get them that day. I have become spoiled by this order online and pick up kinda life. But, I think it actually saves me money because I don’t buy impulsively. I did spend a lot of time Friday trying to get caught up on blogging…responding to comments on my blog and commenting on others’ blogs. And, yes, it’s another pair of horseshoe jeans from Gap. This time, they’re in the coolest little stripe. It reminds me of the bib overalls I had for the kids when they were babies. I remember I had also ordered the pink pair, but boy howdy! They were bright pink and not for me. Besides, I think three pairs of horseshoe jeans are quite enough along with the barrel jeans I have from Old Navy. Everything I’ve read says this silhouette will be around for at least this fall. I, of course, will wear them past then. Oh, and I returned the pink ones! Check out this adorable tee from Old Navy! When they say snug fitting, they mean it. I sized up to a Large and might have tried an XL if they’d had it. What do you think of my hair? It’s mine because I paid for it. I have been thinking about getting a topper for a long time. Kellyann convinced me with all her beautiful wigs that it couldn’t hurt! I’m still rather self-conscious about it. I mean, look at the difference between my bio hair and this gorgeous hair! This is what I was meant to have!

Yes, my pants are wrinkles, and my bedroom’s a mess. Life is happening here, my friends!

Saturday – I shadowed another docent for a new kind of tour our VTS group has been asked to try. I didn’t want to wear something too dressy, but I wanted to look “professional.” I also knew there was a possibility of interacting with little kids so I wanted to be comfortable. This jumpsuit is from a little boutique (the only one) in town. I bought it in this color and forest green. I’m pretty sure the green one has been on the blog before, or maybe it was this one. I wore a lace Halftee under it for warmth. It looked a little odd because I always order the lace Halftees in a bigger size so the arms were extra long. The cardigan is from Garnet Hill and has three quarter sleeves so the lace sleeves stuck out. I told myself I was adding some panache! By the way (or should I say BTW), this cardigan? It’s probably close to 15 years old. I am telling you, these merino cardigans wear like iron! But, as I said the other day, they are almost double the price now! Did you notice my pink kicks (do they still stay that)? This is my third pair of the Adidas München Sneaker (though they only have green and blue left). I love them and think they’re perfect for my time at the museum. I don’t know that I’ll wear them with dresses this summer. But, like I always say, “Never say never!”

Sunday – I attended a lecture at Newfields and completely forgot to get a photo! But, it was the Zuri dress from Monday’s post, worn open over a black tee and Old Navy barrel jeans. I think I even wore the same jewelry from that post and the shoes from Saturday. I sat with my besties as we listened to a panel discuss a piece by Ana Mendieta which is currently on loan to Newfields. You can read about that piece here. I noticed it the other day, but I haven’t watched it yet. It’s about five minutes in length. The lecture was interesting, but I’ll admit I was a bit lost as I didn’t have the piece to reference.

Monday – Today is a day of celebration at Haus der Mitte! It’s the last day I have to give Nigel his IV antibiotics. The nurse is coming on Tuesday to remove his PICC line. We had a video visit with the infectious disease doctor who is pretty confident his test results will come back clean. He won’t have that fluid withdrawal for a couple more weeks, though. Then, about two weeks after, he’ll, hopefully, get his new hip! I cannot wait for so many reasons. I won’t have to get up multiple times at night to help him to the bathroom, administer the antibiotic, etc. On top of that, he’s started talking in his sleep. He’ll say my name repeatedly. When I respond, he’s sound asleep. Luckily, I’m so tired, I fall right back to sleep. I wore my denim horseshoe jeans again with another Garnet Hill merino cardigan. I tried one of those funky ways of buttoning the cardigan I see on Facebook or Instagram. I was partially successful.

This really is the hair I was meant to have!

What to link up…

Please link up your favorite fashion posts, old and new. Please take the time to visit some of the other bloggers. I’m sure they would appreciate it, and please let them know you are visiting from our link up! A huge thanks to Jill and Kellyann for agreeing to let us host this new “old” link party. And, an even bigger thanks to Amy for being my co-host! In case you’re not sure about what to post, I’ve actually stolen some of Amy’s Monday post (thanks, Amy): “You can show one outfit you’ve worn or multiple outfits you’ve worn. You can talk about clothing, shoes, accessories, undergarments, swimwear, brands you stand by, thrifting, online shopping, in person shopping – whatever you want to talk about that involves fashion.

I have had a few comment that they aren’t fashionable and I say to that “pish posh”. Just show us what you’ve worn!” I love that…you don’t have to be dressed to the nines (look at what I’ve worn) to link up!

  1. All I could link up with is a Barbie outfit 😉
I really like the flower pattern on your pants! I used to have pants with a similar pattern, but different shape and color and I loved them so much. That was ages ago, though.

  2. The Saturday outfit looked smart and fun.

  3. This was fun! I love seeing your everyday outfits. I really like the outfit you wore to museum.

  4. I knew that was a Garnet Hill sweater! They have the best patterns. Ok, girl – you do jeans and pants outfits so well! I loved all of them. I think you can wear the shorter tee and it works well with the pants you paired it with. I love your pink Sambas and since I wear my beige ones so much I have thought about a more colorful pair. Maybe? Look at us influencing each other. I love the ON blouse on you. It looks great and it’s great for this time of year.
This was so fun! Thank you for the idea and for picking me.

  5. A very stylish week in your outfits . The hair topper looks so very good in the photo. Wishing you all the best for Nigel’s tests.

  6. Marsha!!!! That topper! It looks amazing and so natural! I hope you wear it everyday. I remember thinking I’d only wear mine for special occasions and then I realized I could look at each day as a special occasion and why not?
Your daily outfits are so cute – you wear the horseshoe jeans so well.
I am so excited for you and Nigel, the end is in sight!
    xo,
    Kellyann
