Style Imitating Art…
It’s time for another round of Style Imitating Art! A few years ago, I joined Shelbee and Salazar as curators for SIA. We begin with a piece of art, create looks based upon that art, and share them on our blogs. Think of it as fashion meets art museum! Anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun. You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, either! Shelbee selected our inspiration artwork this week.
How it works…
Here are the details: Every other Monday, one of us will select a piece of art. That is shared via all three co-hosts’ blogs. On the following Monday, all three share their looks on their blogs. If you choose to participate, send a photo to the curator for that particular week. You, as well as the other participants, will be featured on the curator’s post that Wednesday. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! If you decide to play along this time, please send your photo to Shelbee by Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:00 pm EST to be included. I hope you will join us! I think this could be the best way to start something new! Remember, you don’t have to be a blogger to be a part of this. You can snap a photo and send it in. We love to have readers join in on the fun, too.
Why…
Shelbee writes, “Since we are sharing the artwork on Memorial Day, I chose this very powerful 2021 painting on wood, “Triumphant Salute,” by Michigan artist Matt Beyrer. Matt was bitten by a hammerhead shark in the 8th grade and during his recovery period he was inspired by Bob Ross. In 2015, he had his “first life-changing Happy Accident” which led to his paintings on boards of scrap wood. He is the self proclaimed “Inventor & Creator of Natural Expressionism™️” (I thought Marsha might like this new school of art!)! Not only is it a powerful piece for the holiday but I love the colors and the beautiful wood grain that shows through the oil paints.” Shelbee’s right! I’m going to have to look into this art movement for sure!
