Week 10 (maybe)!
Welcome back for this week’s edition of the Fashion Files, hosted by Amy and me! If you don’t know Amy, her blog is Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. If you’re a fashion blogger, this is the place to be. It’s the day of the week where I talk about the things I wore last week and what I did as well as anything I might have bought. It’s also the place where you can tell us about what you wore, what you bought, what you wished you’d bought! Please tell your friends about our link party because we’d love to see it grow and grow! So, let’s get the shenanigans going, right?
Last week’s looks…
Tuesday – Nigel had physical therapy, but I’ve been making an effort to get dressed much earlier. I did wear a version of last week’s Tuesday gardening look as I watered plants, planted plants, and rearranged the back porch. I blame this cute little Linen Blend Apron-Neck Mini Shift completely on Amy! She has the skort which I had tried, but it was too short for me. I’m not 100% sure this little dress is any longer, but it felt longer. I really love the print…it’s got sardines on it! It reminds me of that movie, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” And, I found these sardine earrings at Ann Taylor! Now, who would have thought sardines were a fashion statement! BTW…I didn’t buy them. I’m wearing a yellow Halftee under it because, y’all, it will show everything the good Lord gave ya! Use my code, MARSHA15, for some percentage off (I’m not really sure how much right now). Please click through this link if you’re interested!

Wednesday – Well, Wednesday was a bit of a nerve-wrecking day when the thought of tornadoes make you anxious. We had had a huge hailstorm on Tuesday night. It went on and on. Honestly, I have never experienced a hailstorm like that one. The wind was blowing so hard, the hail was hitting the windows under our covered back porch. My plants are all polka dotted (they like to be on trend, too) with holes. Our neighbors had piles of them under their downspouts even into Wednesday morning. Anyway, the weather forecast was for even more severe weather with Indianapolis bearing the brunt of it, including the chance for severe tornadoes. I follow a weather channel on Facebook, and this was the very first time he’s been wrong. He explained the reasons why the storm wasn’t much of anything, but I didn’t really care. Would you believe there were people complaining on Facebook that they’d been all prepared for this storm to end all storms (honestly, we were burgundy), and it hadn’t come! People, I tell ya! Anyway, I was very nervous all day because the only thing we can do is huddle in the main hallway with the doors shut. I really hate that for us. Except for our very first home, Nigel and I have always had a basement, and I dearly miss one because I think the weather is going to continue to be volatile for the rest of my life, at least. So, I used my clothing as comfort and armor! I wore a pair of slim wide leg jeans from Old Navy along with one of my favorite Luxe sleeveless tees (grey) and a Crepe Sari Shortie Spellbound Kimono. This may be my favorite look of the week even though I was so worried all day long.

Thursday – Another physical therapy session for Nigel, and the look today is all Talbots! I bet you didn’t think I ever dressed like normal people, right? Well, if there’s embroidery or some kinda extra special detail, I’m probably going to like it. I’m wondering if Talbots is in a bit of trouble because they sure have been running a lot of sales. The day I’m typing this, these particular Wide Crop Jeans were $39.50. I paid a little more than that, but check out that embroidery! Isn’t it cool? Actually, it was rather cool, because any kind of breeze came right through the cutwork! The top is one I probably would have overlooked in the store, but the stripes drew me in first, then you add those flowers and consider me caught! This Floral Stripe Top is just so much fun, and I will definitely wear it in less predictable ways. Of course, we had lasagna that night, and I completely expected to have some land in my lap. I’m happy to report it didn’t!

Friday – Yes, I look a hot mess in this photo! I had a facial in the afternoon so I knew there was no point in washing my hair, styling it, or even wearing makeup. I have to tell you my aesthetician is the absolute best! She’s so personable and gives the greatest head and neck massages. I should have taken a photo after I got home because she literally runs that oil right through my hair! This is an old J Jill dress that really isn’t my style anymore, but it was a good one and done for that day. I haven’t been sleeping well at night so I am pretty sure I dozed off during my facial…it lasts at least 90 minutes!

Saturday – Nigel and I went to the mall. He only walks inside Nordstrom where there’s a chair, and the men’s restroom is nearby. But, it gets him out of the house. I am still trying to get him to walk upright rather than hunched over the walker. His physical therapist says he’s doing really well. I just need to be patient. I had a return to make at J Jill. And, I might have tried on a few somethings. Unfortunately, I had left my phone in the car so I couldn’t take any photos! Some fashion blogger I am! I bought this dress at Loft several weeks ago and can’t find it on the web site. I really like how the stripes change in direction. I may need to follow Nancy’s advice on last week’s look and add a belt even though it’s got that area dividing the bodice from the skirt. I don’t notice it when I look in the mirror, but that band seems to emphasize my round belly. I wore my Miz Mooz sage green Shay Sandals.

Sunday – It was Father’s Day, but we didn’t really celebrate it. Nigel is not one who is big on gifts as you may remember. He was treated, however, by the kids…Dilly Bars and pecan pie as well as a heating pad and a shoehorn! I went to Old Navy to check on some tee shirts he wanted. For some reason, Nigel has decided he wants some henleys. He rarely asks for anything, clothing-wise. I bought him a couple for sizing. Did you know, if the price is less online, they will price match at the register? Just show them the item on your phone. I was planning to plant those plants I bought last week when I got back so I didn’t do my hair and just put on sunscreen, some mascara, and eyebrows! Scary, right? It’s funny, but here in a place where few people know me, I’m OK to go out and about looking like this. Even funnier? I’m sharing this with all of you! I’m wearing those pink jeans from WalMart and a Sanctuary tee.

Monday – I had a meeting at church today. I thought it was at 10:00, but, luckily, it wasn’t until 1:00. That gave me plenty of time to do my morning routine, shower, and be there on time. I had to do some returns as well as pick up a few supplements for Nigel. The surgeon has his own special “cocktail” of supplements. The first time, I went to four different places, but now I know where to find everything so I only went to two! We have a strange “pharmacy” that carries walkers, wheelchairs, and the like. But, it also carries different kinds of supplements you don’t usually find at, say, Walgreens or CVS. I wore a pair of Old Navy Jeans, this cute ribbed tee, and an ice blue cardigan from Haven Well Within. And, for some odd reason, my hair has lost all the color except blue! It’s very strange because just a week or so ago, it was purple. I’m not doing anything different, either.

Purchases…
OK, I may have stress shopped again this week. I ordered another pair of shoes from Miz Mooz, but I want to surprise you with them. I also ordered a few dresses from Gudrun Sjödén. A couple are already packed up ready to go back. Then, when I went to the mall on Saturday, I had to make that daggone return. They were having a sale on bottoms, and I had been looking at this Faux Wrap Skirt in Olive Graceful Paisley! I bought it…what can I say! I need to figure out a top because it’s an off white background. I’m almost thinking an out of the box plain colored tee might be the ticket, but would that draw attention away from the fabulousness that is this skirt?
What to link up…
Please link up your favorite fashion posts, old and new. Please take the time to visit some of the other bloggers. I’m sure they would appreciate it, and please let them know you are visiting from our link up! I really do thank Amy for being my co-host! Feel free to show us what you’ve been wearing, what you’ve bought, returned, or just thought about. Maybe you could share something you’d love to have but never will for whatever reason. You can tell us…we’ll understand. Tell us about your shopping habits. Do you enjoy thrifting, reselling, or online shopping? Just write a post about fashion of any kind. You could even do a review of an awards show. I know the Tonys just occurred. I can think of at least one outfit I’d never wear, but the guy wearing looked pretty daggone amazing! And, remember, even if you’re a movie reviewer, a baking blog, a book lovers blog, a blog that’s anything but fashion, I’m betting you get dressed. Snap a photo, write a little about it, and link it up! You really don’t have to dress up, either…take a look at my Monday look! I’m pretty sure we’ve got the bugs out of the link party now so you can link up through me or Amy! Just, please link up and spread the word! Thanks, my friends!

Today’s favorite is the mini shift. I like a fun pattern although I hardly ever wear any patterns myself.
