Style Imitating Art…
It’s time for another round of Style Imitating Art! A few years ago, I joined Shelbee and Salazar as curators for SIA. We begin with a piece of art, create looks based upon that art, and share them on our blogs. Think of it as fashion meets art museum! Anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun. You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, either! I selected our inspiration artwork this week.
How it works…
Here are the details: Every other Monday, one of us will select a piece of art. That is shared via all three co-hosts’ blogs. On the following Monday, all three share their looks on their blogs. If you choose to participate, send a photo to the curator for that particular week. You, as well as the other participants, will be featured on the curator’s post that Wednesday. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! If you decide to play along this time, please send your photo to me by Tuesday, September 22nd at 10:00 pm EST to be included. I hope you will join us! I think this could be the best way to start something new! Remember, you don’t have to be a blogger to be a part of this. You can snap a photo and send it in. We love to have readers join in on the fun, too.
Why…
I chose this painting from a Substack post. I subscribe to James Lucas’ Substack called “Beauty is Truth.” I don’t pay for it so there are some posts I don’t get to read in their entirety. Anyhoo, he wrote this particular post about “Beautiful Paintings Lost to History.” You can click through that link to read about all five paintings. Long story short (I promise)…this post is about five paintings we will probably never see again. One was destroyed in a fire, but the other four were stolen. When I saw this painting, I was struck by the use of light, shapes, and all the items in the room. There’s a lot to choose from in this painting so I hope a lot of you will join us! It really is fun to look at a painting and figure out what you could wear that would imitate it. Sometimes, I just go with my feelings and go from there.

Looking forward to the post! Have a good start of the week.
It’s a painting that the longer you look, the more you see. At first glance I thought it was a bit dull, but later I saw lots of detail.
