A Second Post!

Oh, welcome back!

I am so glad you are here!  I know there are many, many blogs out there, and you are a busy person.  I appreciate you visiting with me today!

What now?

I have to admit publishing my first blog post was scary!  I have no idea how many times I revised it.  Want to know a secret?  I wrote the first draft a few years ago.  That’s how long I’ve been thinking about writing a blog!  Most, if not all, of the credit goes to Debbie from http://yourstyledstory.com.  She provided lots and lots of knowledge, encouragement, and truly helped me to just take a deep breath and jump into blogging.  Was it frightening?  Oh, you’d better believe it!  It was more terrifying than standing in front of a group of parents at Meet the Teacher Night…when you’re the teacher!  But, you know what? It was also freeing.  Actually posting a picture of me out there on the worldwide web wasn’t earth shattering.  I feel like I broke down a barrier.  Ok, I might have chiseled out a little bitty step and glanced over the wall.  But, I did it!  Would you like to read that first post? Find it here, When a Nudge Becomes a Shove!

I was so busy sitting straight, I forgot to make sure my eyes were wide open! I still like this shot!

So, where do I go from here?  I know I’m starting a fashion blog…kinda…sorta.  I’m not sure I’d ever refer to myself as an expert in fashion.  But, you know what?  I’ve been buying clothes for decades.  And, for a lot of those years, I was making some big mistakes.  I was following the trends, buying what worked on other women’s (sometimes even men’s) bodies, and filling my closet with clothes that just didn’t make me feel pretty.  It took me a little minute to understand what worked on a tall, long-legged woman with no hips probably wasn’t going to work on short, curvy me!  Gradually, I figured out what the bits and pieces of me needed in order to build an outfit.  Maybe that does make me an expert in what works for me!

What works?

Today’s dress is from Lilly Pulitzer.  I always longed for a sheath from Lilly Pulitzer, but I had to accept those straight sheaths weren’t for me.   That is not to say curvy girls shouldn’t wear Lilly Pulitzer sheaths.  If you’re comfortable with a more body con look, rock that dress!  I have reached the point in my life where I’m buying clothing in which I look and feel good.  Luckily, Lilly now includes a-line jersey dresses.  Flounces have been around for a year or so (do we even count last year?).  I wasn’t really on board with that look, but the busy print of this dress underplays the flounce.  The small patch pockets barely qualify as pockets!  Check out the fun back!  I know, I know, my bra is showing.  I don’t care!  It’s summer.  I’m wearing Lilly Pulitzer, and I feel the beach calling my name!  I hadn’t intended to photograph this particular look on this particular day.  But, I was having a good hair day.  It wasn’t raining so my husband was pressed into service (his photography skills will improve as my blogging skills do…at least, that’s the plan).  I’m wearing Old Navy yellow flip flops and old Stella & Dot earrings.  That’s it!  Talk about styling!

Why yes, those are sprinklers behind me! And, this is a good hair day for me!

Thanks for stopping by!

I am so glad you returned. I hope the day will come when I’ll look back at these first posts and giggle. I think I’ll also look back at them and see a woman on the edge of something quite wondrous! Since you’re here, won’t you consider subscribing to my blog? And, if you’re interested, please take a look at my “About Me” page.
