Have you been watching the weather across the country? I am not really one of those weather people who are constantly monitoring weather conditions. Honest, I’m not! But, the weather in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada has been crazy! Squamish, British Columbia hit 96F (35.6C) and was hotter than Las Vegas! We have had some fabulous days here in the center of Indiana. If the rest of the summer were like this past Monday, I would be ecstatic! Today is the third Thursday of the month meaning it’s time for an Ageless Style challenge. Amy of Amy’s Creative Pursuits chose spring dresses. Last month was white tops. Prior to that, we have worn polka dots, kind clothing, sumptuous fabrics, skinny jeans, layering essentials, , and many other ideas. If you’re curious, you can find some of my looks here, here, and here and here. Please do visit the other hostesses of the link party (oh, yes, there’s a link party) at their various sites!
Which to choose…
Now, we all know I love a dress! I mean, we all do know that, right? They are the perfect item of clothing if you ask me. Think about it. A dress will cover anything you don’t want seen. It will warm you up in the cold weather and cool you down in the hot weather. A dress makes a statement about who you are. It can also convey a mood, an achievement, or a celebration. A dress works hard. But, the trick is to choose the right dress!
The trick…
Honestly, you choose the dress that speaks to you…loudly! Over my decades of shopping, I have bought many a stinker! I have bought the wrong color, the wrong fit, the wrong everything. Some might say I still do that, and they would be right! I can convince myself that something that is glaringly wrong for me is perfection on a hanger! But, here’s the thing…even if you choose the wrong thing, if you feel beautiful and special and all kinds of good while wearing it, you didn’t choose the wrong thing! The time may come when you rethink that choice, and you may even change your mind. But, in that one particular moment, you felt glorious! And, that is the important thing!
My outfit…
I bought this tiered pleated silk dress during a Nordstrom bonus point event. When I tried it on in the store, I also tried it in the teal color. I really liked both but eventually decided on the raspberry color. I love how swishy and twirly it is. The tiers are barely noticeable with all of the pleating so I think this dress will stand the test of time. It is so light and airy. I can see wearing this from early spring until late fall with just a change of accessories. It is sleeveless so I popped on this white linen cardigan from J Jill. I’m not sure why they haven’t done these nice little cardigans lately. They honestly are the perfect cover up for when you’re chilly or a little uncomfortable with your arms. I had thought to go with a scarf or a long necklace, but I wanted the dress to be the star. Well, actually, I’m the star! But, I wanted the dress to get second billing!
The Lewk!
Well, look here! It’s my Willow espadrilles once again! I am now halfway to convincing myself to buying that second pair! I can honestly wear these for hours without any pain. That is a rare thing with my Frankenfoot! This gorgeous pendant is actually an enhancer. Do you know the difference? An enhancer has a clip of some kind to enable you to put it on another chain. A pendant would not have that little clip. I’m not sure if this is by Effy or not. Nigel bought me this necklace many, many years ago for Christmas. He bought me the matching bracelet the following June for our anniversary. I bought the earrings a few months later because I had nothing that worked with them at all. I wish I could have captured the cushion cut on the stones in these earrings. I think the stones are rhodolite.
Wrap it up, Marsha!
I know you probably won’t believe this, but I was a real tomboy in my youth! I was incensed we had to wear dresses to school especially during the winter. Once we were allowed to wear jeans and pants, I probably could count on both hands the number of times I did in the last three years of my grade school career! Now, dresses and skirts are my preferred way to dress. But, don’t be surprised to see me out and about in jeans, either. So, can we talk? How often do you wear dresses? Do you ever wear something, but particularly dresses, and a few days, months, or even years later, wonder what you were thinking? What is your favorite kind of dress? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk! I promise to respond as soon as I can!

That dress is fabulous!!
Thanks so much, Joanne! I really like it!
What a pretty dress! I love the color!
Thank you so much, Amy!
I really really like this dress on you! The color is gorgeous and the pleats create a cool effect! Like you, I have bought some dresses over the year that just didn’t work, but I am grateful for what my dress collection is right now: there are a couple that I don’t wear much or like better with a tee over them but otherwise, most are dresses that I truly love.

Thanks so much, Mireille! I go through my dresses constantly weeding out the ones that no longer sing to me! This one…I just had to have it because of the color and the pleating!
OK, I don’t really care for either maxi dresses or tiered dresses, but I am swooning over the raspberry color and the pleats on this one! Love it! Looks great styled simply with white.
Thanks, Sally! Sometimes, less is more, right? I am a sucker for a maxi and always have been. A couple of years ago, I decided to try a tiered dress and was surprised at how much I liked them!
Gosh, that’s an amazing dress Marsha. I’m on team dress too. I think they are the best for summer outfits especially,
XOOX
Jodie
Thanks so much, Jodie! I really do like it, but I wish it had pockets! Of course, that would spoil the whole look!
What a beautiful pleated dress! I adore the color on you. The white topper makes is perfect for spring!

Thanks so much, Kathrine! I love this color, too. They had a teal color in the store, but I decided the raspberry was the one for me!
That dress is stunning! I love the texture and the color!
Thanks so much, Laura! I really like it!
Marsha, this dress is gorgeous! I love the color and the style. I popped over to Nordstrom to look at one for myself, saw the price, and quickly backed away. But if any dress were too tempt to spend a lot, it would be this one. You look fabulous!
Thanks, Michelle! It helped that I had some reward to offset the price. But, I will wear it for many, many years to come!
I am a big fan of dresses too, and this one is beautiful on you! I love the raspberry color and the swishy flowing pleats. Enjoyed your post, and the Ageless Style link up!
Thank you so much, Di! I do love dresses! I’m so glad you joined us for the link up!
That’s a gorgeous dress and you look fabulous wearing it! The color is very close to the Pantone Color of the Year for 2023: Viva Magenta. The white shrug sets off the vibrant color even more.

Thanks so much, Carol! It’s funny because when that color was selected, I really didn’t have much in my closet. And, I had no intention of buying anything. But, when the color is featured all over, you just end up buying it!
Thanks for stopping by!
What a fabulous dress. I tried to imagine how it would have looked in the teal and I am sure it could have been lovely but it couldn’t be more beautiful than this orchid-y/magenta/fuchsia color. You are a vision!! Love that the dress is silk. So elegant, must feel divine to wear it. The delicate pleats remind me of a broomstick skirt I had years ago. It was not nearly as pretty or feminine but it did feature similar tiny pleats.
Thanks so much, Leslie! It was a splurge, but I really think I will wear this dress for years. Oh, broomstick skirts…I remember those, but I couldn’t wear them because the hips refused to grant them access!!
