Classic and Fun Black Jumpsuit!

V Neck Cross Back Jumpsuit!

Jumpin’ Jack flash…

Oh, my gosh!!! I am back on the jumpsuit wagon again! Last year, I got this Grecian Halter Jumpsuit and loved it! I still wear it a lot. You can read about it here. There’s just something about a jumpsuit, right? It’s got all the joys of pants yet gives the appearance of a dress. There is that one little problem…going to the restroom. I’m not gonna lie…it’s still a struggle for me!

Or, jumpin’ black flash…

I don’t remember if I saw this on Instagram or was just toodling around on Clara Sunwoo’s site, but I knew this V Neck Cross Back Jumpsuit (gifted) was destined to be mine! It’s one of those classic black pieces you will probably wear for ages and ages. I think, even when the jumpsuit is passé, if it ever is, this jumpsuit will still work. The wide, wide legs flow together and look more like a maxi dress/skirt than pants. It is made from Clara Sunwoo’s “signature poly blend fibers” and is supposed to be quick drying. Obviously, it doesn’t fit me like it does the models as they are inches taller than I am. But, I was thrilled it was just the right length for me…remember, I’m only 5’1″!

You can see just how wide these legs are in this photo!

How to style it…

The site shows it two different ways. You can wear it with nothing underneath…which won’t be happening here! Or, you can layer something under it. I wasn’t sure just how deep the vee would be on me so I thought I’d just pop on a crew neck tee. But, then I decided to try a v neck tee which worked so wonderfully that I didn’t even try a crew neck tee! I have a number of these luxe sleeveless tanks from Old Navy which would probably work well, too. How cute would this be with the hot pink one? Or, maybe the striped one? Or, the green one? How about a denim jacket? Or a safari type jacket? Oh, how about this one…a striped tee and a scarf wrapped oh, so casually, around my neck with a denim jacket tossed nonchalantly over my shoulder? Cute, right?

Can you tell it was a bit windy?

Putting it on…

OK, true confession time! It was a comedy of errors trying to put this on. It’s not that it’s difficult at all. The trick is in getting the straps in the right alignment with the front and back of the jumpsuit. There are no fastenings, and the straps do criss cross in the back. I think I will probably always have to think a little bit before putting it on.

You can see the crisscross a bit here.

Just a wish…

My only wish would have been to have pockets! This is such a beautifully versatile piece of clothing. Honestly, you could wear it to work in the office, to dinner, to church, or to a nice evening out. You could even wear it to the beach though I would only do that if I were having professional photos taken! Pockets would have just made it that much better. Of course, pockets may have completely destroyed the sleek lines of the V Neck Cross Back Jumpsuit.

The Lewk!

I have to tell you I love these Carlos Santana Sandals. It’s not like I can wear them to walk miles and miles, but I could definitely wear them for a leisurely stroll around the mall! I decided to be on trend with a delicate necklace and bracelet. These may be from the same collection from Stella & Dot, but I think the bracelet came out a few years later. I continued the slightly boho, ropey feel with these earrings from J Jill. They are a go-to when I need a neutral earring.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I am seriously considering taking this jumpsuit to Ireland and Scotland. I figure I can layer leggings under it and add layers over it! Again, my only concern is the bathroom, but I’ll practice beforehand. And, it will squish up nicely for packing with absolutely no wrinkles! So, can we talk? Do you like to wear jumpsuits? How do you handle the bathroom situation? Do you have any suggestions for future stylings? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

  1. That’s a very pretty jumpsuit! I like them a lot but don’t have any. How stupid is that. But if I find a good one it has to be a black one too. I was never a fan of Van Halen, only running with the devil I loved.

    • Thanks, Nancy! You need a black one!!! I am not a huge Van Halen fan, but I did like their videos. They were always fun.

  2. I always like jumpsuits on others but have never owned one . The bathroom issue does put me off I must admit.
That said I can see why you fell for this one Marsha.

    • Thank you, Jill! Last year was the first year (I think) I ever had one. I have to admit I rarely wear them if it’s going to be an all day thing, though!

  3. Oh I love jumpsuits and was nearly ready to buy this one but no pockets is definitely a disappointment! This is an adorable outfit on you.

  4. That is such a fun jumpsuit! I love the back criss-cross straps! Have a great weekend Marsha!

    Jill – Doused in Pink

    • Thanks so much, Jill! I think they give it a fun surprise in the back…kinda like a mullet, right?

  5. Oooh, it is such a cool jumpsuit and it looks amazing on you! Jumpsuits do lend themselves to all sorts of fun layering tricks. But then the bathroom will always be an issue…especially when you layer things on top of a jumpsuit. You have to take all your clothes off to use the toilet! I recently rid my closet of all but one jumpsuit. But gosh, they really are adorable!

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee! Oh, I didn’t think about the removal of the layers. Well, that decides it. This will have to stay home. I was thinking it might be a problem before with being on a tour and having a schedule. But, then having to take off coats and other things will just add to the problems. I’m glad you reminded me of that!

  6. It looks super cute on you and will be versatile too! Public restrooms are where jumpsuits bother me some, but otherwise I really like how comfortable they are. I love the wide legs!

    • Thanks, Mireille! I will practice at home, but I’m thinking it’s a no-go for the trip. We’ll be with a tour so there will be a schedule.

  7. I’ve always loved jumpsuits, in fact I wore a black one to a friend’s wedding once (way back when I was in my early 20s) with black platforms!! They’re so versatile, and if they’re stretchy, super comfortable too. When they’re like yours, I think the bathroom issue isn’t so much of an issue because you can literally just pull down the stretchy straps…it’s just getting them back up and flat on the back that might take some practise! Whereas the ones that have buttons or zips…well, that’s another story!
You look fabulous in this black one and I love it with the white tee, and I agree a colourful tee and denim jacket would be great too!
    Big hugs
    Suzy xx

    • Thank you, my friend! I think this one will be easy in the bathroom, but it’s the puddling (no pun intended) of the fabric on the floor that has me bothered. I typically hold my pant legs up off public bathroom floors anyway, but I just don’t know! The criss cross just naturally happens and doesn’t really take any fiddling with. I’ve actually ordered some colorful tanks to wear under it!

      • OMG you’re absolutely right, Marsha! I’d forgotten about the puddling LOL. I hate that! And it is so difficult to hold everything up off the floor mid flow, isn’t it?! Public bathrooms are just AWFUL (but oh so very necessary!!!)
        xx

  8. I typically avoid jumpsuits due to the bathroom issue, but you are making me reconsider. This looks so cute on you! And given that we have a similar build, (short and post menopausal), I think this could work for me too.

    Michelle

    • Thanks, Michelle! This would definitely work for you! I actually like that it’s full length on me instead of cropped like it is on the model. I will have to practice at home before wearing it out in public! I typically hold my pant legs up if they’re flowy because public bathroom floors are just gross!

  9. I haven’t worn a jumpsuit since the 1990s, and the bathroom situation definitely has kept me away since then. The idea of getting my jumpsuit on a public bathroom floor gives me the willies a bit! But this is a really cute one, and it was such a switch up to see you wearing black!

    • Thanks, Sally! I don’t like any of my clothing touching a bathroom floor so I even hold my pant legs up! I get so grossed out when we watch a movie, and the character falls to the floor of a public bathroom with their face on it! Ewwww!

But, I really, really want to take this jumpsuit. I probably won’t because we’re going with a tour so there will be timelines!

  10. I have big boobs and also a big belly by now, a jumpsuit would definitely not work for me. I had one as a teenager and the bathroom issue got too annoying for me after a while.
It really looks cute on you, though (and it being black is definitely a plus in my opinion :-D).

    Cat
    https://catswire.blogspot.com/

    • Thanks, Cat! Well, I have big boobs and a big belly, but this worked for me. I think it’s because it’s a knit rather than a woven.

  11. That jumpsuit looks wonderful! Definitely made for you.

  12. jodie filogomo

I love the look of a jumpsuit and have a couple that I wear. But truthfully, I would never take it on a trip because of the bathroom inconvenience. And I don’t even have to go that often.
But I love the sandals too. Super cute, Marsha,
    XOXO
    Jodie

    • Thanks, Jodie! I’m debating because I have no idea what the bathrooms will even be like. In a lot of places in London, the stalls are really narrow so you don’t have room to fiddle with things. We’ll also be with a tour so there will be a timetable. But, it’s so cute!!!

  13. This is a great jumpsuit Marsha, you look great in it! I have one quite similar but without the criss-cross back and also wear it with a white tshirt as you’ve done here. A great outfit apart from the bathroom issues!

    • Thanks, Debbie! It really is comfortable, but I’ve decided it will remain in the States for my vacation. The bathroom issues are just too big!

  14. That jumpsuit is lovely on you but about taking it on holiday to Ireland and Scotland, you would definitely be wearing layers over the top of it on some of the days as this year the weather has been 4 seasons in one week and sometimes in one day! And then in the bathroom you’d have to take these outer layers off first.

But it does really suit you, so it is a keeper for the warmer weather you’re having in the States. Have a lovely weekend 🙂

    • Thanks, Penny! I have already decided it’s staying home for the very reason you mention. Shelbee mentioned it, too. That hadn’t occurred to me at all. We are definitely having the warm weather…actually, I consider it down right hot!
