Completely Speechless!

Speechless…

OK, that may be a bit melodramatic, but you’ve come to expect that, right? I’m just running on a couple of tight deadlines. They always happen the last couple weeks of the month so I should be prepared. In case you haven’t met her, let me introduce you to the Queen of Procrastination…me! A better title may have been “I’m Worded Out!” So, today’s post is going to be short and sweet!

Still speechless…

Speaking of being speechless, are you good at public speaking? I’m OK with it, but I have to have what I’m going to say written out. I’m not good at memorizing key points and working from there. I do remember having to do that in Speech class in college…a freshman level course I didn’t take until my last semester as a senior! It’s funny because it’s not like I’m nervous getting up and speaking in front of people. I just have to have my speech in front of me. Of course, that leads to awkward pauses as I find where I left off. I know some people use iPads for such things. But, I’m old school and print out my words.

Apparently not too speechless…

Look at me…telling you this is going to be a short post, and I go blathering on and on. I, apparently, am not completely speechless! I am an extroverted introvert so I don’t like actually being with lots of people. But, when I get to wherever I’m going, I’m fine and can talk to most anyone. Weird, right?

The outfit…

Today’s outfit is short and mushroomy! I bought this cute little sundress last summer. It’s called the Happy Mushroom Tunic Dress and is available in limited sizes. As you can see, it fits like a regular shorter dress on me. Remember, I’m only 5’1″ though. I had forgotten about it because I bought it at the end of the season. If you’re interested in some real bargains, check out April’s Attic (then, use my code, MARSHA15 for $15 off $100). You’ll probably see lots of familiar things. I know you can just barely make it out, but I’m also wearing a sleeveless luxe tee I bought last year to go with this dress. I really like the texture of these tees. They’re ribbed, but they’re not tight like most ribbed items are. And, not all the tees at that link will be textured. You’ll need to zoom in to see if they’re ribbed or not.

The Lewk!

These are my Delight wedge sandals. My left foot is bugging me right now. I just need to add some moleskin to make them more comfortable. I’m a matchy matchy girl so I pulled out this string of polished garnet chips. Would you believe I bought these at Pier One back when they had really inexpensive stuff? I think I may have paid $3 for them. The brown topaz earrings are from eBay.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

Honestly, I was going to skip a post today. But, I wanted to use these photos before it got too cold, and the dress would look silly for the weather. Actually, don’t be surprised if it shows up again on a Try It Again Tuesday! So, can we talk? Do you ever reach the point where you’ve just run out of words? Or, are you someone who anticipates tasks and gets them done early? Can you even believe I used to teach, grade papers, write lesson plans, and raise kids all at the same time? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you!

  1. I do like the sleeveless ribbed T, ideal for keeping the straps in place.

  2. Gosh that’s lovely on you – but it would be a bit short for me at 5’8″ 🤣 The photos also tell me how different US weather is to UK weather as we are definitely in Fall weather with mostly cool days and lots of rain. I’ve just bought a thrifted all wool grey jacket and I’ll be wearing it a lot now as it’s that kind of weather. I love your sandals but no more bare legs here!

    • Oh, now you’re making me blush, Penny! And, yes, it would be more like a long top on you at 5’8″! We are starting to have cooler nights (but still in the 60s/16C). I love fall and can’t wait to wear all the cozy sweaters and such. You’ve always got such amazing coats. Would you believe I wore sandals right into November when I was teaching? I didn’t quit wearing them until it snowed! And, that was because I didn’t want wet feet!

      Thanks, Penny!

  3. Love your look as always, Marsha and I hear you about having posts catch up to you towards the end of the month. I haven’t been keeping up lately although I have made the deadline for Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! See you there. x

    • Thanks, Sue! It’s amazing how just one day can get you so far behind. When I got back from vacation, I just decided there were some things I just couldn’t manage. That usually meant linking up on various link parties. I’m glad you’re still a part of Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

  4. Love the whole look, the print of the dress and the sandals look so good together. Wonderful Post! Have a great day!

  5. That is such a cute dress! I hate speaking in public and I too put off taking my public speaking course for as long as possible. In fact in high school I was willing to get a lower grade just to not have to give a speech about our presentations.

    • Thank you, Joanne! Public speaking in college and school is such a different animal, I think. You’re getting a grade, after all. When you’re teaching, that’s public speaking. I wonder if you’d feel better now since you taught for years.

  6. Marsha, you make me smile! We have a lot in common. I don’t mind public speaking but I need key points written down and then who knows what I’ll say – ha!!!!
I chuckled at your mushroomy description of your cute dress! It is adorable on you and would be perfect in FL!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • Thanks, Kellyann! You would look adorable in this tunic, but you’d have to wear something under it! Oh, I really disliked speaking from key points because my mind would go blank as I tried to remember what went where! I would much rather stumble awkwardly something I’ve written well. I actually have gotten much better as I’ve been helping with teaching this group of adults. I can even ad lib!

  7. I’m terrified of public speaking. I thought it would get easier as I got older, but it really hasn’t. That dress is so cute on you! Love the print!

    Jill – Doused in Pink

    • Thanks, Jill! It really is a cute print. I never ever wanted to speak in front of people, but I think all those years of teaching plus having to speak to parents at Back to School nights cured me of that fear. It’s definitely a real one, though.

  8. I love that you are showing off your legs. It’s always nice to see our friends in a variety of looks.
    XOOX
    Jodie

    • Thanks, Jodie! I didn’t really think about that. I just find it humorous this is a tunic, but it’s a dress on me!

  9. This dress is so pretty on you! I love that it’s shorter and the print is so fun. You need to show off your legs more because they are fabulous!

    • Thank you so much, Kathrine! You know what’s funny? Most of my winter dresses are shorter! I guess it’s because I wear tights then. But, I really appreciate the compliment!

  10. I hadn’t even noticed the tank on your pictures on IG! I love the layering possibilities!

  11. I love the outfit and I am the queen of procrastination!!! I swear! I am always dragging my feet on everything.

    • Thanks, Lisa! But, you are going to have to settle for just being a Princess because I am way older than you!

  12. That’s such a lovely dress! It’s definitely too cold to wear anything like that in the UK!

    • Thank, Emma! It has begun to cool off here, too. But, we will probably still have a few more warm days.
