Remember…
How many of you were big fans of the show, “What Not to Wear?” We didn’t have cable for many years so I could only watch when I was at my son’s or daughter’s houses. Then, I was pretty much glued to the screen…kinda like a little kid in a candy store! I always told my daughter to NOT put my name in because that $5,000 card they gave the people just wouldn’t replace what I had in my closet.
A feud…
I recently read the duo are getting back together. Am I the only one who didn’t know they’d had a feud shortly after the series wrapped in 2013? In 2017, Kelly put out a memoir entitled I Hate Everyone, Except You. In it, he wrote about the sometimes up, sometimes down relationship the two had. It makes sense, I think. If you spend that much time with someone, there are bound to be things that are like fingernails on a chalkboard, right? I mean, I’ve never experienced that, but I can imagine it…hahaha!!! London was devastated because she didn’t realize he felt that way. You can read more about it here, if you’d like.
But…
If you read the article linked above, then you already know. Their feud appears to have been mostly one-sided, and London even went so far as to block him on social media. But, the two reconciled during the pandemic. They are so good now that they are taking their show on the road. Yes, you read that right! If you have $50-$150 and live close to ten specific cities, you, too can see Stacy & Clinton together again. Here are the details. How I wish this were a sponsored post!
Things change…
If you’ve kept up with Stacy London, you’ll know she’s really mellowed out and just about, kinda sorta, almost says you can wear what makes you comfortable. Again, am I the only one who didn’t know there’s PinterestTV? I had no idea! Anyway, London has a show on it, I think. I honestly didn’t quite understand this article, but maybe you will! I remember watching the video I’ve linked below and being impressed by her honesty.
My outfit…
OK, I love the silk clothing from Kantha Bae. When they released the Celeste Maxi, I thought this dress was perfect for me. It was this beautiful moody purple-y grey with a muted print. I honestly didn’t think it would be on the site for long because it’s just what all the cool girls want. When it was still there a few days after the launch, I ordered it. Remember, each item is truly unique because they’re made from recycled saris and kantha cloth. And, many times, the colors don’t quite match. But, this one, my friends, was exactly the way I imagined it! Dark and moody…just the right colors for fall and Halloween. The print is so perfectly me, too.
A little more…
There is one problem, however, with the dress. It wears me a whole lot more than I wear it! I’m just not sure what to do with this one so I thought I’d do a post on it, and you can give me your opinions! The shoulders are ties that I’m not exactly sure what to do with, and they don’t stay tied. The tee is an old one from Old Navy and is the perfect match. That leads to another problem as it doesn’t break up the color at all. I have pretty good sewing skills so I can easily take care of the shoulders. But, what to do with the rest of it? I’m stumped!
The Lewk!
I need to up my espadrille/wedge/sandal game! I wasn’t sure these Annemarie sandals really worked or not. They don’t really show that much, so I think they’re fine. Going with the boho (?) vibe, I chose this J Jill beaded necklace along with an old pair of J Jill earrings.
Wrap it up, Marsha!
There are times I feel like I’m playing dress up. This outfit is one of those kinds of “Marsha masquerading as a hippie” looks. It just doesn’t work, and I’m pretty sure Stacy and Clinton would have a field day with it! So, can we talk? How would you change this look? What would you do to this dress to make it more wearable? Were you a fan of “What Not to Wear,” and will you go see Stacy and Clinton for their new show? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I try to respond within a day or two.
Thank you!

I read an article about Stacy & Clinton finally putting aside their differences and it warmed my heart! I heard there were some issues but never really knew much about it. My favorite show was the original What Not to Wear with Trinny and Susannah on the BBC and then WNTW with Stacy and Clinton quickly moved to the top of my list. I couldn’t get enough and learned so much. Gosh what I wouldn’t do to get to shop with them!
I’m loving the colors in this dress, so pretty on you Marsha!
xo,
Kellyann
Thanks, Kellyann! I doo like the colors of this dress, but I’ve got to figure out a way to style it…just not with Stacy & Clinton! I had no idea they were feuding until I read they’d made up. And, I’ve heard of Trinny London makeup…is that the same person? I will have to hunt down those shows! I wonder how they translate with time.
I used to love watching “What Not to Wear” and was sorry when it ended. It was a shame they had such a falling out. If only people would communicate with others, when they are upset.
I love thé color and print in your dress. I don’t think I could deal with tie shoulder though. And I am not a seamstress. 😢
Thank you Eileen! I am going to figure something out with this dress because I really do love the color and the print. I am definitely cutting the ties off and fixing the shoulders. I’ll go from there, I guess.
I honestly didn’t even know they were feuding until I saw they’d made up. The show was fun, but I felt badly for some of the people because Stacy & Clinton weren’t always nice to them.
We occasionally watched and enjoyed WNTW. I always felt so sorry for how embarrassed or downright angry the subjects were…most rebounded and embraced their new looks; but there were the select few that struggled with the whole thing. I should have paid more attention, haha, because I could absolutely learn a thing or two.
Oh, Em! I really felt for some of those people. You could tell there were some who were truly upset. I read somewhere a long time ago that there were some who returned to their old style. I would have been furious to have my clothes dumped into a trash can. I think style is such a personal thing anyway.
Thanks, Em!!!
I have never seen the show (nor know who you are talking about; LOL), The color and pattern of that dress is so pretty but it does sound like those ties would be quite annoying!
Thanks, Joanne! I bet you could find an episode or two somewhere if you wanted to see it. I am just so confuzzled about what to do with this dress. I will have to figure something out!
What Not to Wear was one of my favorite shows! I didn’t know they had a falling out but I would definitely watch their new show. Love the print of your dress! So pretty!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thanks, Jill! I just checked, and I’m shocked they’re not going to Chicago! I loved the show, but I honestly feared what they’d say about my style and closet!!!
Oh I loved that show and the one with Trinny and Susanah. Fabulous! I would love to see them get back together. I think that dress would make a fabulous skirt Marsha!
Thanks, Nancy! I’m not sure I could do that as there’s just so much fabric, and it’s silk. It would slide all over the place!
I’ve never seen Trinny and Susanah. I will have to see if I could find them.
The fabric is gorgeous, but I see what you mean about it being overwhelming and annoying with the ties. I don’t have any great suggestions; I am wondering whether it could be made into a skirt but that might still be so voluminous as to be hard to style.
Thank you, Sally! I think I would make a huge old mess with trying to do that because of the tiers at the bustline. And, it would still be very voluminous. I’m wondering about a belt.
Marsha, what a gorgeous dress! I need to get some more Kantha Bae in my closet! Shoulder ties bother me so I would probably figure out a way to make them not tie but other than that, I love the dress the way it is! It looks super cute layered over a tee shirt. Maybe you can try belting it and see what it looks like. It might be really cute with dark moody combat boots and a cropped cardigan sweater, too.
Shelbee
Thanks, Shelbee! I’m definitely going to cut off those ties and just make them regular straps. Oh, I will have to try my combat boots and other toppers!
I used to love watching what not to wear! Maybe that is where my love of fashion started! I love the print of this dress. To me I would love it as a skirt. I am not a seamstress at all though so I am not sure how/what you should do to make it work more for you as a dress. It looks like quite a lot of material.

Thanks, Mireille! I can sew, but I think turning this into a skirt may be beyond my talents. I could wear something over it, though, to make it look like a skirt. There is definitely lots of fabric here.
I loved What Not to Wear, but, like I said, I wouldn’t have wanted to be on the show! Hahaha!!
I honestly think the dress is fabulous, Marsha! The only thing I would do is the straps. I’d remove the ties and just have regular straps and then it will be perfect! The colour of it is divine and suits you wonderfully. I love it!
I didn’t know Stacey and Clinton had had a feud either! I hope the show appears somewhere that I can watch it because I used to love it! Although I’m not sure I’d like to be told what to, and what not to, wear these days!!
Big hugs
Suzy xx
Thanks, Suzy! I am definitely going to get rid of those ties. Some of the women who buy this dress tie two of them behind their heads for a halter look. I don’t know what they do with the other two, though.
This Stacy & Clinton iteration is a road show, but I wonder if it won’t grow into something more.
I adore this maxi! The color is gorgeous on you. I had no idea that there was Pinterest TV either!
https://www.kathrineeldridge.com
Thanks, Kathrine! I’ve just got to figure out a way to make it work (sounding like Tim Gunn there)!
I think that dress is fun! I would play around with the straps and try tying them different ways or try belting the dress to give some extra shape. It’s a pretty color!
Thanks, Laura. I may try tying them differently. Some of the younger, more hip women tie them so the dress is more a halter, but I don’t know what happens to the other two ties!
Loved “What Not to Wear”! Was amazed at some of their guests, did they really dress for real like that?
As for your purple dress – I would try lowering the straps a bit to make that seam lower under your bust. And then remove the bottom ruffle so it becomes a midi dress. I think that would lessen the bulk and show more of you. It is lovely, that fabric looks amazing.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I hadn’t even thought about getting rid of that lower ruffle. That’s a wonderful idea! Thanks so much!
