Even Better than Blue Jeans!

This weather…

We have had some very weird weather in my neck of the woods. Last week, we were still wearing winter clothes. Yesterday (Tuesday), we reached 80⁰ (26.7C). There have been storms and tornadoes. Mother Nature is definitely sending a strong message. Today (Monday), we had more strong winds and rains. Consequently, our internet was out until late in the afternoon. That means this will be a short post!

Clara Sunwoo…

While this is a new-to-me company, Clara Sunwoo got its start in 1997. Clara Sunwoo is a mother-daughter company based in New York. In 2004, the duo created their signature stretchy knit fabric. By 2015, their designs were featured in more than 4000 boutiques around the world (source). You can see this brand on many different women on blogs and Instagram.

Someone needs a pedicure!

My outfit…

When I was first contacted by Clara Sunwoo, I wasn’t sure about how long the pants would be given my vertically challenged self! Luckily, the length of the Front Slit Ankle Petal Pants is just right for me. If you check the website, you can see they are definitely meant to be an ankle pant if not a bit shorter. I chose the Crossover Faux Wrap Top in white and the Modern Tie Front Cardigan in Navy to complete the outfit. The clothing is made in the USA. All of these pieces were gifted. My only requirement was to post on my blog or on Instagram.

My opinion…

For sizing reference, I am wearing a Medium in all three pieces. I would say they are true to size as that is the size I wear at other retailers. One thing I would note is the pants are a little closer fitting than I’d like in the bum and thighs. That’s more me than the clothing, though. I absolutely love the feel of these pants. That front slit creates such fun movement when I walk and gives little peeks at my legs. And, let’s just sit and admire the pattern! Isn’t that fabulous? While I like the Modern Tie Front Cardigan, I think I would probably like the longer Drape Tunic Cardigan given the close fit of the pants. I do like the ability to tie the cardigan, though. I’m not sure it works as well tied with this particular top. But, this white top is amazing! I love how it drapes over my bust and camouflages my stomach a bit. What really caught my eye was the faux asymmetric look to it. While the company wasn’t probably going for this, all three pieces feel like you’re wearing your pajamas! Another thing I really love about all three pieces is that I can mix them with things I already have and create a completely different look. You’ll be seeing them again!

The Lewk!

I thought I’d taken more photos of my Lewk, but with the internet being out and Nigel being all flustrated about that, I guess I didn’t! These are the Willow espadrilles from Eileen Fisher. Mine are a few years old now and still look brand new. While they are quite an investment, they fit my wonky foot well. I was able to wear these right out of the box and have never had a single blister. They truly are workhorses in my summer closet. The earrings are Premier Designs, I think. The two necklaces are old and are from Brighton. Are many of you into Brighton? I used to be but kinda fell out of love with them and sold lots of my pieces years ago. These made the cut because they aren’t quite so “Brighton-y” if you know what I mean. Both bracelets are from eBay and are years old.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I was thrilled to be invited into the Clara Sunwoo family! The clothing is beautiful, wrinkle free, washes well (don’t ask how I already know that), and so very comfortable! So, can we talk? How has the weather been in your part of the world? If your internet goes down, does anyone in your family get a little freaked out? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk! I promise to respond as soon as I can.

  1. Those trousers look very comfortable! The weather here is still way to cold. Its still freezing at night. I just want to sit in the sun and get the lounge set out!

    • Thanks, Nancy! It’s still very chilly here at night…usually below freezing. I was really cold the day we took these photos!

  2. Oh same as Nancy as I see the clothes you’re wearing as clothes I’d wear in our summer! At the moment our weather is too darn cold and wet for anything other than winter gear although I did wear a long jacket yesterday instead of a full-length coat – that was just about OK!

The entire outfit looks lovely on you including the pants – they fit brilliantly!

    • Thanks so much, Penny! Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was freezing the day we took the photos! And, I was going to wear them on Easter, but they weren’t warm enough for me as I refuse to turn the heat up!

  3. I fell in love with these pants when I saw the look on Insta! The slit detail on them is so cool. I adore this print especially!

    • Thanks so much, Kathrine! I love the print and thought about getting the matching top, but I didn’t think I’d wear it as often. Isn’t that slit fun?

  4. That is a fabulous outfit!

  5. Those pants look so cute and comfortable! The slit hem is a fun detail!

  6. The hem on that white shirt is truly ideal. I just love how this whole look came together,

  7. Clara Sunwoo is fantastic! I love their clothing. These pants look so good on you!

  8. At first, I thought the title of your post was blasphemy. However, my one, very favorite pair of jeans just acquired a terrible wear hole in the knee (which I guess could be considered fashionable). So… I am on the lookout for Jean alternatives, ha ha.
These pants are very cute and they look great on you.

As to the weather: windy, windy, windy here, and very rainy as well, I think the usual for us this time of year. We lose power all the time in our neighborhood (and the Internet with it), so exchanged our manual generator for we put a whole house version a couple of years ago. A big ticket, but it took away a lot of the anxiety about the weather.

    • Hahaha!!! I was really trying to come up with a title that would be part song title, part catchy! I hate it when my favorite anything gets a hole in it. I could patch it, but I never do! So, go with the fashionable aspect, Em!

It’s funny because not once did our power blink. Since moving last August, we haven’t lost power once (oh, no…the bad juju will get me now). But, the neighborhood we left has lost power several times even on good days. It’s on a completely different grid, I guess.

      Thanks, Em, for coming by!

  9. Oh, I love these pants, Marsha! They definitely look better than jeans! I am going to check out their website in a moment. Super cute outfit. The tie cardigan is so fun and the wrap style top looks amazing on you.

    Shelbee

    • Thanks so much, Shelbee! I was hoping they’d be short enough for me to wear, and they’re pretty doggone perfect! You would look fabulous in anything they have!

  10. Fantastic outfit, Marsha! I love, love, love the pants! But all of the pieces are terrific. I know you were worried about the close fit on the pants, but because of the design, you really can’t tell.

    Michelle

    • Thanks, Michelle! We are our own worst critics, right? But, they are really fun. This would have definitely been something I would have worn to teach in. Now to put a little fun spin on it!

  11. Love the indigo tie-dye look and the asymmetrical hem on the blouse – nice picks!

  12. Those are definitely fun, stylish and bold pants.

    FASHION TALES

  13. I like your outfit. I tend to be a solid color person on my bottom half. I always felt self-conscious about having big hips and thighs. Although, I am much better about it these days at my age, old habits die hard.

Talk about the weather! It has been crazy here this weekend. My husband has been working long ours as it is Masters week here in Georgia. Yesterday two trees fell on the calf course. Big old pine trees! Today is nasty cold, only 45 degrees and we have been having thunder storms all morning. I ran Cinnamon out for a quick walk, because she won’t go out in the yard in weather like this, but will take a walk. Go figure.

    • Eileen, we must be cousins twice removed! I tend to shy away from colored bottoms, too. But, I thought the swirly pattern would hide any lumps and bumps! I do think, as we get older, we begin to care less about what others think. Of course, what others think probably got us into the whole worrying about having big hips and thighs, right?

I saw that news story about the Masters. I hope your husband was in a safe place when they fell. Today is sunny and just a little chilly, but the rest of the week is supposed to be glorious which means it will probably be rainy and cold! Oh, my Jack really hates getting wet, too. I usually take him out for a walk to do his business anyway.

Thanks, Eileen! Have a fabulous week!

  14. Those pants look so cute and comfortable! I fell in love with these when I saw the look.

  15. You look lovely Marsha! I’m all for pants that aren’t jeans, but I don’t know how I feel about pants with front slits… or any slit pant-hem for that matter. ? But then again, I’m always late to like trends. And there’s something about keeping my sock choices private. ?

You have a terrific day, Gorgeous!

    Hugs,
    Paula

    • Thanks so much, Paula! This was my first pair of pants with slits in the front. I really like the swirly factor of that. I haven’t tried this style of pants before because they’re usually too long for me, and I’d end up cutting the slitted part off!

I’m so glad you visited, Paula!
