Final Friday: Like Patterns!

This is the fourth edition of Final Fridays: Print Mixing! It is also the first time I will be hosting by myself. Michelle is backing away from link parties for a bit. Final Fridays is all about print mixing. There is a link party, too! Make sure you link up your favorite posts, visit a couple of other blogs, and tell your friends! You can see my previous efforts here, here, and here!

A variation on a theme…

I’ll be honest. This is my second attempt with this outfit! The first time, I tied the blouse at my waist. Unfortunately, it gaped and made my bosoms look humongous! They are larger than I like right now, but they certainly aren’t as big as they appeared! This a-line skirt and the blouse are from Talbots…last summer or very early this spring They are the same pattern but on a different color background. There are some other color variations, especially the color of the foliage. The other colors, I think (because they’re packed away), are the same. I keep looking at the pictures. It looks like the jars are the same colors. I also wore my trusty striped tank for an additional pattern! I think I need to play with this look some more before I really like it.

The Lewk!

I’m wearing my Born sandals in green again. To pick up the blue in the jars, I went with this gorgeous cushion cut blue topaz ring from Effy (very old) and these blue topaz earrings from eBay (also very old).

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I like both the skirt and the shirt, but I’m not 100% sure I like them together. I like the concept, but I’m just not sure about the reality! That’s the beauty of pattern matching, right? If you don’t like it, you try something else! So, can we talk? How are you doing with pattern matching? Do you like to mix and match prints and patterns? Or, are you more of a neutral person? You know, that’s another beautiful thing about fashion…what I like doesn’t mean you have to! Please leave a comment, and we can talk! I promise to get back to you as soon as possible!

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all of you who read my blog! I really do appreciate hearing from you and even seeing some of you in person! Thank you, especially, to those of you who subscribe to my blog. You can also follow me on Instagram here.

  1. I had to get used to print mixing a few years ago. But through blogging I’m loving it now! It’s fun to do isn’t it. Thanks for hosting Marsha!

    • You’re so very welcome, Nancy! Yes, I mixed prints before but not to the extent I do now that I’m blogging!!

  2. I like the combination, but either print alone would be a terrific (and easier on the eyes) print mix with the green striped T, too. (That’s a great shade of light green in the striped T. I notice it with pleasure every time you post it!)

    • Thanks, Sally! I agree that this may not be the most pleasing combination, but I wanted to see how the two would look together. I wear this striped tee all of the time…I keep hoping they’ll do some more!

  3. These prints are so fun and summery! Putting them all together makes for a creative and cute outfit!

    • Thanks, Laura! I’m not sure I’d ever really wear them together, but I thought it was worth a try!

  4. I like these two “same-ish” patterns together, but probably would not do them myself, as they tend to blur out in pictures. I like my patterns bold, baby! Remember, don’t worry too much about exact matches. It doesn’t have to match; it just has to GO.

    Happy weekend, Marsha!

    • I agree with you completely. I was just experimenting and thought, “Why not?” I like them on their own, but I may try mixing them with a different pattern next time!

I hope your long weekend goes wonderfully, Sheila!!

  5. Love the mix of prints and colour. It really is such a lovely combination with your great style.

  6. I always feel like print mixing is the college education of fashion. And it’s a good challenge for our brain. I always am so impressed how you do it so easily Marsha,

    • Wow! Thanks so much, Jodie!! It just feels so natural to do it now. I am constantly scouring things, thinking, “Hmmm, will this go with that?” And, if it’s a fail, at least, I’ve learned something!

  7. You nailed the print mixing with this look! I like that it’s almost a monochromatic print mix. Is that a thing? Lol!

    • Thanks, Kathrine! I don’t know if that’s a thing or not! I couldn’t figure out what to call it that’s why I called it like patterns! I hope your trip to NYC is fabulous!!

  8. Oh indeed this IS a fun print, love the retro vibe and it looks so good with these shoes.

  9. I think this a really cool print mix, Marsha! I love your striped top with it. The colors in this outfit are awesome.

    • Thanks, Michelle! I like the striped top with each piece, but I’m not sure the whole thing works! I’ll have to play with it some more!

  10. Marsha, the print on your shirt and skirt is really cool! I really like that it’s the same print in different color palettes. What a cool idea to mix them. The striped shirt with the skirt is really on point, too! And those green sandals are freaking fabulous! Sorry I am so late to the party. I am playing catch up from last week!

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee. I’m still trying to decide if I like them together or not. I thought it was fun for a print mixing challenge!
