I promised no more talk of pears or apples. Let’s talk zucchinis! Just kidding. Today, I’m showcasing a pair of jeans very popular during that sale…you know the one! I’ve always wondered about the NYDJ line of jeans. I think their schtick is that they are for…you know…moms! I ordered these in a 10P with a little trepidation as petite pants can be a little short in the rise for me. That’s what being short waisted does for you when you’re vertically challenged! Surprisingly, these jeans fit well as far as the rise went. As you can tell from the shots, they are a skosh long. The inseam (I didn’t measure it) is 30.5 inches. Whoa, that’s a little long for a petite! These are the Marilyn straight leg jeans. I was expecting…straight legs. I think these seem a bit more boot cut. Since we’re talking about boots…check these babies out! I love the L’Artiste by SpringStep brand. They are a little edgy with that boho meets cowboy feel. These are at the top of my heel height range due to foot issues (a later post possibly). Even with the boots’ 2.5 inch heel, the jeans still puddle a little more than I like.

Lace on lace…why not?

Straight leg…I think not!

I paired the jeans with an embroidered tee from Talbots (old) and an embroidered duster from J Jill (sold out, similar here https://www.jjill.com/product/pj-linen-topper-203001s-1?color=801) as well as a few Lagos bracelets (my husband’s go-to gift lately). The jeans fit well. They’re comfortable. The wash is ok, maybe a little more whiskering than I like. But, what I really don’t like about them is these aren’t straight legs to me. Call me a child of the 70’s…no, go ahead, call me a child of the 70’s. We knew jeans, and we liked the legs of our jeans to be large! Some of my jeans…well, they could have been skirts for a small child! These jeans are just ok. They might be keepers if I didn’t have several pairs of Old Navy jeans that fit and feel better to me. And, what makes them a definite return is the price. Now, I’m not going to tell you I buy premium denim because I don’t. I wear my jeans a lot. I wear them when I walk the dog. I wear them working in my gardens or watering my plants. I don’t baby them, and I don’t save them for special occasions. Jeans are one of the workhorses of my wardrobe. These jeans were $78.90 in the Anniversary Sale. While that’s not exactly a premium price, it’s not one I’m going to pay for jeans that are just ok.

This photo, right here, is my problem in finding jeans. I don’t like that snugness in the thighs. I don’t recall these being snug at all, but the pictures look snug. In fact, the jeans were very comfortable. But, they were a big old “meh” to me. I want jeans to fall from my bottom in a straight line. I want the jeans of the 70’s (Let’s face it, I’d like the body I had in the 70’s, too!). I want that straight line from my hips to the floor, even wider if possible at the floor!

You get an even better idea of how these conform to my body…not a look I personally like in jeans ON ME! If you like that look, (trust me, I’m going to say that a lot in this blog), then wear it. I am embracing the idea of wearing what I want if it makes me feel beautiful or even pretty!

Do these…oh, you know the rest!

And a derriere shot…because…well, we all wonder…do these jeans make my butt look big?

Another side view showing the conformity of these jeans…and, I’m no conformist when it comes to fashion! And, yes, I know it’s a duplicate!
Just admiring the work on these boots! Check out the L’Artiste line if you like edgy shoes and boots!
Just because I like this picture!

What do I think?

I think these are nice jeans if you’re in the market for some bootleg jeans and can wear a 31 inch inseam while still being petite! The fabric is nice and comfy. These are a cotton blend with a lot of elastic-type materials. That makes me wonder how they will wear. Will they stretch out and give you saggy dancing bear butt? There are no reviews as yet on the Nordstrom site even though there seem to be only two sizes remaining. I just can’t commit to buying jeans I don’t love especially at that price point.

Thanks once again for coming by!

I was having some issues with subscribers, but I changed my mail plugin or widget or whatever. I hope this gets to you, and if it does, won’t you please leave me a comment? I’d love to read your thoughts. Have you worn NYDJ jeans and love them? Do you think these are straight legs? Do you have a summer of 70 whatever story you want to share? I’d love to hear from you! And, if I can figure out, once again, how to add the subscribe boxes, please consider subscribing to my blog!

  1. It takes a lot of tries to find the perfect jeans especially when we have so many options, I think.
I’ve never tried this brand, but I almost have better luck with LOFT jeans.

    • Oh, I have been trying jeans for so long!! I think back to a pair everyone had in high school which was in (cough, cough), 1975 or so. Everyone looked so cool in them. I did not. But, I could never figure out why…duh, I was 5’1″ and they were all taller! Now, I know. What’s the old saying? With age comes wisdom! Thanks for commenting, Jodie!

  3. Just like our personalities, our body types are so unique finding jeans is almost impossible. But you have aged so beautifully and your hair is so cool, no one‘s looking at your jeans!

    • Oh, you are sweet, Kathy! I just decided (and the pandemic helped) to quit dyeing it and grow it out! I was surprised at the color! As for jeans, it’s maddening, isn’t it? I can and have ordered the two of the same pair in the same size, and they fit completely differently. I have just heard so many positives about this brand, I thought I’d give it a chance! Thanks again for reading and commenting.

  4. I have some NYDJ that I really like, others I have tried and hated, JAG are another favorite of mine. I am slow to embrace changes in jeans and pants styling because iy takes so long to find something I like! I have always been hard to fit: petite overall but long-waisted and used to have a big difference between my waist and hip that at the time I thought meant I was too wide in the hips for my waist instead of recognizing as hourglass, and now with a bulging belly. So I currently have skinnies and some straights and will have to undergo much trying on to find these new boot and flaring styles. Thanks for showing us these, I agree you need to love them at that price. Here from Wardrobe Oxygen!

    • I agree! Buying jeans is not for the faint of heart! I have exactly one pair of skinnies, and I just feel strange in them. I wear leggings and have no problem with them. I guess you can take the girl out of the 70’s, but you can’t take the 70’s out of the girl!

  5. Jeans can be so hard to get the right fit of! I feel really bad because I got a pair of premium jeans for a collab I did and I have never had a nicer fitting pair of jeans. At $200+ (they are locally made which explains high cost) I really can’t justify buying another pair as much as I love them and want to, haha! I’m constantly scouring ebay..they are the best jeans! I’m petite too and so I love the ‘cropped jeans” trend as I haven’t had to have any jeans hemmed for a while since that started – they end up being the perfect length on me!

Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂

    • Oh, I have always said I would pay top dollar for a pair of jeans that fit perfectly! I have yet to find those, so top dollar hasn’t been an issue!! But, yeah, cropped jeans are wonderful although sometimes they’re just that weird length where they look like I tried for a cropped look and failed completely! I usually go for the ankle jeans that so many despise as they expose their ankles to the cold. Those are usually perfect on me! Cheers to the short girls, right?

  7. So much to consider when buying jeans. Although frustrating at times, I do enjoy the hunt. Thank you for joining my link-up.

    • I enjoy the hunt, too…maybe just not for jeans! And, thanks for letting me link up. There’s so much to learn with this blogging…such a steep learning curve. But, that’s one of the reasons I’m doing it…to learn something new! Thanks for coming by!
