How To Wear Fuzzy!

Happy Birthday to My Little Brother!

Today is my little brother’s birthday! He and I are very close in age, but he is quite a bit taller than I am. That means he calls me “Little Sister!” I know he subscribes to my blog, but I don’t know if he reads it. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Little Brother!

On with the show…

I seem to always introduce my Ageless Style post with discussion about my hair. Let’s do it again today! As you can see, the fashion color has drastically faded. I hate to lose that vibrant color, but I hate showering in ice cold water more! I won’t be doing any colors for a couple of months so back to the silver for a bit! Today is the third Thursday of March (already) which means it’s time for an Ageless Style challenge. This month, Jodie selected Fuzzy. In the past we have worn pinks and reds, chocolate and cream, holiday casual, winter blues and many other ideas. If you’re curious, you can find some of my looks hereherehere and here. Next month’s prompt is Graphic Tees in case you’d like to join us! Please do visit the other hostesses of the link party (oh, yes, there’s a link party) at their various sites!

What is fuzzy…

As always, I had to find out if there was a definition of fuzzy. I had totally forgotten that fuzzy can mean something unclear or blurry. But, for our purposes, fuzzy is a surface that feels like fur. Now, I am not one to buy fuzzy. In fact, I reached out to all the women of Ageless Style for advice. I won’t tell you what they said as I don’t want to spoil their posts. In fact, I hate fuzz! I try to buy clothing made from fibers that won’t pill or get fuzzy. It’s one of my pet peeves! I will check reviews on sweaters and such to see if an item pills. If more than one person makes mention of it, I won’t buy the item. One time, I bought a fairly expensive merino wool sweater from Banana Republic. I rarely have problems with merino wool. But, this sweater was a mess after just a few wearings. Now, I know most sweaters are going to pill, and I do de-pill sweaters. If a sweater pills after a wearing or two (taken from reviews), I’m not wasting my money.

Fuzzy logic…

When I googled fuzzy, fuzzy logic popped up. I figured it probably pertained to me. As I read about it, I was surprised to discover it’s used by mathematicians and scientists. Ordinary logic gives ideas and problems a value of either 0 or 1. In other words, something is either right or wrong. In fuzzy logic, ideas and problems can have a value on a scale from 0 to 1. Nigel says fuzzy logic is a way of explaining something you can’t explain. I’ll take his word for it since he’s an electrical engineer!

A little more…

So, I’m thinking if logic is something you can prove, then fuzzy logic would be something you can’t necessarily solve. I think it’s a little frightening that the applications in the above quote are using fuzzy logic. I want my traffic controllers being as logical as possible! Here’s another way of understanding fuzzy logic (which isn’t quite as frightening):

My outfit…

All of these items are old and have been in my closet for over a decade, except for the jeans. I bought these Talbots jeans a couple of years ago. When we still lived up north, I needed a new robe for colder weather. I found this one at Macy’s and fell in love. It’s not quite as soft as it once was, but it’s definitely warm. I thought, for today’s look, I would wear it as a coat, but it’s so obviously a robe! I have, I’ll admit, worn it to pick up groceries! The blouse is from Banana Republic. Back when I bought it, they had different kinds of blouses. I can’t remember what the name of this one was. I do remember the Riley was a slim cut blouse. This isn’t one of them. I really like the ruffle down the front of it. And, it’s definitely in my colors! I even tucked it in and added a belt. I think you can see, from these photos, just how short waisted I am!

The Lewk!

No lewk with this outfit! I really didn’t know what I was going to do with this prompt. I hated to not participate so you get to see my favorite robe! I almost wore my pajamas under it, but I also realized you really don’t want to see that! So, I went barefoot! In the photo below, I’m wearing my robe (and my Westie pajamas) as a Halloween costume! Can you guess what I was? I got this idea on Pinterest because I’m just not that creative. I’m a crazy cat lady! Those were all my granddaughter’s stuffed kitties!

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I’m also not wearing any makeup in these photos. I had a laser treatment on Friday so I’ve been avoiding makeup. Oh, my goodness! My face was so swollen on Saturday. It was almost completely square. Now, the mends are coming to the surface, and I’m rather spotted! So, can we talk? What kind of logic do you use? What do you do when a sweater pills badly? Do you have a favorite robe? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you!

  1. Haha, crazy cat lady! Okay….. I’m not a fan of fizzy things as I don’t find them very hygienic……. yes I’m fuzzy…… but your robe looks very cozy. And the jeans are fabulous on you with that beautiful blouse.

  2. I was intrigued by the blog post title, when I see Fuzzy and clothing in the same sentence I think of ‘fuzzy slippers’, those silly ones that are either too big or have feathers and tufts on them that make them most unsuitable for long term wear.

  3. Oh yes, fuzzy?! I agree, I too don’t like things that pill or are fuzzy. Over the years I have found that although there are some amazing cheap wool-type sweaters (we call these jumpers) they only last a couple of years if that. Real wool though is for ever and I have several sweaters that have lasted 10 years and more and will last forever.

Well done you for taking a photo despite the laser treatments. I too, am not wearing makeup and won’t be able to for several weeks. There wont’ be many current photos of me on my blog as I look really rough!!!

Btw, those are great jeans and that’s a really nice blouse.

  4. I really don’t have much fuzzy or furry either as I don’t like the texture. The vest I styled today– I never wear with the fuzzy side out!

  5. I would not have thought that was a robe until you said it! I honestly love the crazy cat lady costume, super creative.
I have heard and used the term fuzzy logic before, actually I think I have said it to my kids before when they tried to explain something I didn’t think quite added up!

  6. I think I have a lot of fuzzy logic in my life, hahahaha. I did this same Halloween costume several years ago. The older kids, who got the concept, thought it was hilarious especially since I am more likely to end up with a million dogs, and the little kids just wanted to pet all the cats attached to me. Hahahaha. Anyway, your robe is fabulous and before reading I honestly thought it was faux fur coat. I love seeing you in jeans! You have a great figure. You should rock this look more. Have a great day!

  7. It doesn’t look like a robe at all to me, but it’s hard to tell as you only showed a couple of photos wearing it. I can see why you would have worn it out shopping. It’s so cute. Fun post.

  8. The crazy cat lady costume cracked me up! I didn’t realize it was a robe until you mentioned it. It looks so soft and warm!

  9. From your pictures, I actually thought it was a coat ! I think it works both ways. I am glad you included the picture of your Halloween costume, that is really funny! I had not heard of fuzzy logic.

  10. I would have never guessed that was a robe! It looks just like a cozy teddy coat! Love your crazy cat lady costume! I’m going to have to remember that for next Halloween! I don’t think I’ve heard of fuzzy logic!

Now, I truly think if you had style that robe over a white button down and jeans, it would look like a long teddybear coat. I realize, you know, it’s a robe, so it’s very hard not to think everyone else knows it. But especially in those photos, it looks nothing like a bathrobe.
      Xoxo

  11. I don’t own a robe and I only own one sweater these days which I have knitted myself probably 35 years ago and hold onto for sentimental reasons. I very rarely wear it because sweaters are too warm for me nowadays.
I used to wear fuzzy because when I still knitted a lot I liked mohair (also because I could use bigger needles ;-)), but those times have long gone.
I’m with those who think this doesn’t look like a robe!

  12. I did like your crazy cat lady Marsha. I get why you queried fuzzy , the meaning here is also different, we would use fluffy or furry for clothing . I find it so annoying when knitwear pills after a few wears . The robe is fun .

  13. I need to do that costume next year! Hilarious! I love your pretty button down.

  14. I didn’t realize it was a robe until you said so. Love the crazy cat lady costume!
