It’s Been a Minute!

Jewel Neck Swing Dress

Have you ever…

There are times I surprise even me! I was looking for a pair of sandals to wear with this dress when I stumbled upon these. I sometimes will buy something and forget about it for a minute or two. But, I have absolutely no recollection of buying these sandals! Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find them.

It’s been a minute…

It’s been a minute since I did a post that was just a fashion post. I’ve been so busy doing Style Imitating Art, Ageless Style, and the Global Writing Challenge, that I’ve let just plain fashion slide! I received this cute dress from Clara Sunwoo and really like the bold splashes of color across it. The first time I put it on, something just didn’t feel right. There’s a modesty panel in the front bodice. Once you get that settled down, it’s much smoother…hahaha!! The only problem is the modesty panel is made from the same fabric so you can see a bit of the splashes through the bodice.

A summer dress…

This is the Jewel Neck Swing Dress in Sunburst Petal. I really like swing dresses as they allow for those times when it’s extra warm, or you’re extra fluffy! You could easily wear this dress to a graduation party, bridal shower, or any other sorta casual, sorta dressy event. My only addition would have been pockets…there aren’t any pockets! The colors are really vibrant and include yellow, orange, red, purple, aqua, and a few others where they overlap. It’s a fun dress for just strolling down the street!

Cover ups…

I’m not feeling overly confident in my body and my upper arms right now. I thought this Modern Tie Front Cardigan in navy would be perfect. One of things I like about this cardigan is the ability to tie it as I’ve done or let it just flow. I know the waterfall look is supposedly out these days. But, I like having the ability to choose how I wear it.

The Lewk!

I can’t find these sandals anywhere so I can’t link to them. And, I can’t even tell you if they’re comfortable or not as I have only worn them for this photo shoot! But, given they’re L’Artiste and have a nice wedge, I’m pretty confident they will be comfortable. The earrings are by Kendra Scott and are from three or four years ago.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I know this is a short and sweet post. Nigel has been having some problems with his back and legs so photos have been wonky! You don’t even want to know how many times my head has been missing! I would get a tripod, but that would hurt his feelings. If you could keep him in your prayers or send positive vibes our way, it would be appreciated. I’m a real fan of Clara Sunwoo clothing. I would love a pair of their palazzo pants, but, alas and alack, I am just way too short! So, can we talk? What kind of dresses do you like? Have you ever found something in your closet and had no clue when you got it? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you!

  1. Haha, now that’s lovely surprise then that you found the sandals. It feels like you just bought them then. What a beautiful dress, a very cheerful one. And I think the blue cardigan is perfect for it. I will keep my fingers crossed for Nigel!

    • Thank you so much, Nancy! I’m hoping we get some answers soon. It’s tougher on him than me, but it’s still hard to see him like this. I do like this dress though it’s a little different from what I usually wear! And, yes, those sandals were a huge but good surprise!

  2. That dress is lovely! I like the unexpected pops of color everywhere. Your sandals are so cute too; even if you don’t know where they came from.. I’ve had that happen with some clothing items before.. especially if I purchased something on sale at the end of the season and didn’t get to wear it before packing it away.

    • Thanks, Joanne! I think what’s so fun is that the colors aren’t what you’d expect to be on the same piece of clothing. I really do like the print. It will be on heavy rotation this summer! I almost always remember what I’ve bought…these were a shocker!

  3. I have the same dress Marsha, we can be twins! I think it will be so great to wear this summer. That’s funny that you have no recollection of buying those sandals – ha!!!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • Thanks, Kellyann! I have absolutely no recollection of it. I checked my orders and see when I ordered them, but I don’t remember getting them. Oh, I’m sure you are lovely in this dress. It’s such a fun print!

  4. Looking ready for spring! I thnik it has actually arrived but we still need a sweater, so perfect! Reminds me to get a pedi so I am ready to show my toes! Have a good day!

    • Those are the best days…warm enough but you still need a sweater. Yes, I got a pedicure a couple of weeks ago because the toes were bad! I probably could use another one!

      Thanks, Linda!

  5. That is a fun and sunny dress. Perfect for recovering from a cold!! Hope you’re feeling better. It seems like everyone has gotten “THE cold” this year…I still have two weeks to go (I’ve heard) before mine will end.

I really want to get back into dresses again. I did need a cocktail kind of dress and searched all over for one I liked as well as one I have at home (that I had deemed “too short” now that hemlines are longer). I finally found one I really liked, brought it home and behold, same length as the one I had! Most of my summer dresses tend to be a little longer and looser. I think I need to update that stock as well!

    • Thanks, Em! I’m feeling better so I hope I don’t have two more weeks to go. That would stink because this is a real stinker of a cough. Luckily, the husband only has the sniffles.

I love dresses because they’re so easy to wear. I wish I had a need for a cocktail dress though I wouldn’t have the first idea of where to look. It seems like there are MOB dresses, and there are prom dresses. Factor in the vertical challenge, and it’s really hard!

How is the house renovation coming? I can’t wait to see it!

  6. My wardrobe is really lacking in the dress department; I have five that are totally random, with no commonalities. I had a dress style I used to wear, then my body changed size/shape for the fluffier so those dresses didn’t fit, and I haven’t found a go-to dress style to replace them. My closet is basically completely full so I’m not planning to add any dresses yet, but down the road, I’ll need to figure it out.

This dress is really cute, but I would also find the matching-fabric modesty panel a bit annoying if the bright colors show through the white. But that’s the kind of detail that that modern clothes at their lower price points usually do get wrong. I think the vast majority of today’s clothes would garner a failing grade in 9th grade home ec back in the day. That’s just the trade-off we as a society seem to have made.

    • Thanks, Sally! Yeah, I was really surprised about the modesty panel because this company is so good about the details. I am lucky that I have a super huge closet so I can keep the dresses that don’t fit right now. I am determined they will, though! I’m trying hard not to add to it!

  7. It’s kind of like free shopping when you find sandals you didn’t know you had.
And that dress is fabulous. The colors the shape everything looks great!
    Xoxo
    Jodie

    • Hahaha!! Yes, it is! I honestly had no idea I’d bought them. Maybe, there’s a shoe fairy that delivers new sandals to good little bloggers! Thanks, Jodie! I look forward to styling this dress differently as it warms up.

  8. Hi Marsha, that’s my kind of dress – the colours, the length and the style but I agree pockets are essential! Funny story re your sandals 🙂 I do hope Nigel improves soon. Take care of yourself and enjoy your warmer weather. We’re starting to cool down so wearing a few more layers.

    Debbie from http://www.debs-world.com

    • Thank, Debbie! It’s strange they didn’t include pockets because I don’t know of any woman who doesn’t want pockets in their dresses! It’s funny you should comment because when I saw it, I immediately thought of you! I’m hoping we get some answers soon for him. He’s just really struggling right now. Our weather has been a little cool, but it’s supposed to be nice and warm next week. Enjoy those extra layers!

  9. This dress really suits you, Marsha! I love the bold color pattern. And I can’t believe you can’t remember buying those sandals, lol!
    http://www.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com

    • Thanks, Mireille! I love Clara Sunwoo clothing so I will be wearing this a lot. And, nope…no recall of ordering these at all!

  10. I had my eye on that dress, and it is so flattering on you! Love the geometric print! So funny you don’t recall getting those sandals. What a fun surprise!

    Jill – Doused in Pink

    • Thank you so much, Jill! It’s a very cheery dress. Yes, I have no recall of ordering these sandals, but there they are on my order list!

  11. They’re very cute – but that’s dangerous if you’re buying shoes in your sleep!! HA!

    • Hmmm…I don’t think I bought them in my sleep, but I think I will run with that as my excuse! Thanks, Lydia!

  12. This is such a fun and cheerful dress and those sandals are amazing! What a great surprise to find hiding in your closet. I am continuing to send healing prayers for Nigel.

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee! It is a cheerful dress, and I’ve been needing that. I was honestly so surprised to find those sandals. Thanks for the prayers…I think we’re going to need them.

  13. I love that whole outfit! That dress is amazing

    • Thanks, Lisa! It’s very colorful, and I love that! I just wish it had pockets! I don’t know where to put my hands!
