Ah, January! The month some of us love to hate or hate to love! Did you know more couples separate or divorce in January? I do wonder why that is. Do you think it’s because of the added pressure of the holidays? January was named after the Roman god, Janus. He was the two faced one. Now, before you think it’s because he said one thing to Minerva and another to Venus, it’s because he was looking back at the past and forward to the future. That seems appropriate for the first month of a new year, right? And, of course, I have to mention the change in calendars. Even though January appeared in both the original Roman and Julian calendars. But, it took Julius Caesar to add the 31st to the month, a very important day in my opinion.
A little more…
January’s full moon is the Wolf Moon due to the howling of the wolves who were hungry! The Anglo-Saxons even called January “Wulfmonath” because of those hungry wolves.
