I don’t know about you, but this year is speeding by. In some ways, that’s a good thing. But, I’m also a firm believer in not wishing your life away. Do you remember that old saying: “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb” or vice versa? Our March came in like a lion cub, I think. It was very windy and created havoc on my back porch. There’s a pot of dirt all upended so I’ll need to get that taken care of soon. With my luck, it will rain, and then I’ll have mud to contend with! It’s supposed to rain here, but be fairly warm. I think that only makes it feel colder despite the temperature.

10 on the 10th…
I looked up things that go on in March, but I didn’t really want us to deal with worms. The name of the March full moon is Worm Moon. Can you guess why? It’s because the worms emerge after winter here in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s believed to have been named that by the southern Indigenous People. There are additional names. If you’d like, you can read more about it here.

Do you know when Pi Day is? It’s March 14 but looks better if you write it 3.14! And, that is pi to two decimals. Pi goes on to infinity which means it’s not rational. Do yourself a favor and don’t look up the definition unless you’re a math major. My daughter, who was a math major, explained that a rational number can be written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot. Pi is irrational because it can’t be written as a fraction! So, have at it, my friends and tell us about the ten irrational (as in not logical) things you would do! And, remember, it’s so much more fun when you give reasons for your answers!
Thank you!

You honestly want me to tell you my whole life, one big sequence of irrational things??
Or do you mean irrational things I would like to do?
https://catswire.blogspot.com/
Your choice, my friend! Hahaha!!!
Or vice-versa. Ha. Yes. That’s one of those things that my mind can never quite memorize for good…but when I look it up (it IS March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb), I’m like well, of course! That makes perfect sense! It’s the end of winter turning to the start of spring. Got it.
Til March 2026 when I will again go…does March come in like a lion and go out like a lamb? Or vice versa?!?
Sigh.
Math. Pheh. I’m watching a show right now, there’s a study group (the show is actually called “Study Group”) and the one guy is really bad at math but really WANTS to be good at it (welcome to my life, re Korean). There’s a problem with an example of 1 = .999 but Bad at Math just cannot…his mind cannot accept this as fact. Good at Math, says okay, look. Cut one cake into three equal portions. What is the value of each portion (aka 1 dived by 3)? Bad at Math says .333. Good at Math says RIGHT! And I’m watching along going, YES! I get it! Now, says Good at Math, push the three pieces of cake back together (aka .333 x 3), so they’re back as one. .333 x 3 = one cake (aka 1), which is .999. Get it? Me and Bad at Math both go NO!!! Ha. Math DOES NOT MATH. Bad at Math defended his answer by saying “what about the mushy cake bits that are stuck to the knife?” Ha ha. I think Bad at Math is smarter than he thinks. But still. Neither he nor I can convince our brains that 1 = .999. So, rational numbers, irrational numbers…it’s all Greek to me.
Irrational THINGS?? Yes. THAT I get. I should probably not start on counting irrational things I do, cuz I may not be able to stop!

Thanks, Bettye! And, then there’s the whole is it vice versa or visa versa. Oh, that’s a good way to remember it, but I’ll still not remember it.
I had to laugh as I read the “Study Group” lesson. The answer is that 1 divided by 3 isn’t really .333. It’s more like .333333333333333 and goes on forever so Good at Math didn’t really do a good job of explaining it. I’m with you and Bad at Math. I like his answer of the mushy bits left on the knife. That’s the .001 which is missing. So, it’s not the same thing…it’s close to it, but .999 doesn’t = 1. It’s close. I used to think I was pretty good at math, but things like this are just not for me.
Then, I guess you’ll easily come up with 10, right?
March came in like a lamb here, so watch this space!
Uh oh! Hopefully, it will continue like a lamb.
Yikes, this one is tough. I am putting on my thinking cap to get started on this, as soon as I find it. I say things like ‘that makes ZERO sense’ all the time. Guess I should have been writing those things down!! But life is full of crazy so I am sure I will be able to think of 10+ irrational things for this link up. Off to get started.
It is rather tough. I don’t have a clue what I’m going to do with it because what one person thinks of as irrational another will think that’s perfectly normal! Don’t forget to link up, Leslie!
