Thank you!
Thank you to all of you who gave me suggestions for my upcoming tour. It’s not until January so I’m still mulling it around in my head. Y’all are so creative and gave me a lot to think about. I will, for sure, let you know the theme and title once I figure it out. I’m currently working on one for the rococo exhibit that ends in March. I also need to write a mini retreat for my church. I waste so much time…
Just a little fashion today…
I don’t know that I’ve ever just written a post about the outfit I’m wearing. That’s weird…I write about them all the time. I mean I don’t think I’ve ever written about each separate item. But, today, I’m giving it a whirl! You’ll have to let me know what you think. Since I’ve lost weight (read about that here), it’s been much more fun getting dressed. I’ve been deleting excess photos from the blog to free up storage (I’m cheap that way). I’ve actually been shocked when I look at those old photos and think I actually thought I was hiding the weight I was carrying. Of course, most all of you have only known me at this weight. I’m about 10 pounds from the weight I was for many years and feel most comfortable at. And, that’s also why I have a closet stuffed with clothing! While I did get rid of some of the clothes that were too small, I kept a lot of them. So, you’ll be seeing items from stores that are several years old as time goes by. Of course, being a shopaholic, I’ll also share items that are new.

The sweater…
Now, let’s talk about this sweater. It’s from the Haven Well Within line that Talbots carries. It’s pricey, but there’s almost always a sale. Many times, the sweaters are 100% cotton which I much prefer over a cotton blend. This is the Organic Cotton Cable Mockneck Sweater in oyster shell which is a greige color. I bought it on a really good sale. I also picked it up in the hunter green color. Here’s the thing about the Haven line. You can’t always find the items in the brick and mortar store so you take a chance ordering. I always read the reviews, but many times, there aren’t any. I took a chance because I love cables, cotton, and mocknecks!

The tights…
I have another pair of Snag tights to show you, but you’ll have to look closely to find them. I have wanted a pair of fishnets for sooooo long! I knew lots of drag queens buy Snag tights, but I wasn’t sure if that meant they were for really tall people. Did you know lots of drag queens wear several pairs of tights at the same time! I have a heck of a time putting on one pair let alone several! I’m not 100% sure why they do that unless it’s to hold the pads some of the queens wear to give them a more feminine shape. Anyhoo, I digress! I wasn’t sure how the fishnets would work on my legs. I was really afraid they would stretch way out and look kinda wonky. But, they are perfect.

The skirt…
But, I really want to talk about this skirt! It’s from Banana Republic, and, friends, I stalked that website for this skirt! It was there in small (like 0-4) sizes, and then it would disappear for a couple of days. Finally, it was there, and in my size! I was thrilled when I opened the box to discover this beauty. It’s a nice heavy cotton. But, the one thing that really bugs me is how the plaid doesn’t line up. I think it would have taken a lot of time, effort, and probably “lost” fabric to do so. As you can probably tell this is a tiered skirt. So, to match the plaids, there would have been so much finagling that the skirt would have been even more expensive than it already was. Luckily, I got it during their recent 40% off sale. It hasn’t been on the website for days, but right this very minute, as I’m typing, it’s there! It’s called…wait for it…Tiered Midi Skirt! Of course, the sale is off now, too. The other downside is there are no pockets. I do love pockets because my hands are just so awkward…silly little boogers! They need a pocket to crawl into when they’re not holding something!

The Lewk!

If you’ve been around, you know these are my beloved L’Artiste Rodeha boots. I’m not sure if I ever mentioned this or not, but I bought the brown pair (from Nordstrom because they’re just easier to return that way). The brown was a strange orange-y brown so I didn’t keep them. But, gosh, do those teal ones call my name! The earrings and necklace are from J Crew. I bought them last year (or early this year) when holiday items were on sale.
Wrap it up, Marsha!
Yes, I do buy lots of clothes…I admit it. I also don’t thrift for personal reasons. That means I try to find bargains and use store credit cards that give me rewards or discounts. That’s how some of my clothes cost me pennies! So, can we talk? Do unmatched plaids drive you wild? Do you prefer 100% cotton or cotton blends? What do you do with your hands when you don’t have any pockets? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as quickly as I can.

Thank you!

Yes, I’m pretty sure the plaid would drive me nuts. I can be very weird that way. So I would probably have chosen the non-plaid one if I wore skirts at all. I only had a few and always preferred pants. Now pants without pockets are an absolute no-go for me!
