10 on the 10th: January 2022

A brand new adventure…

I hope you will join Leslie and me each month on the tenth. I am so excited to be joining her for this. We will be alternating months so you never know what we’ll be getting up to!

Without further ado…

My ten hopes, goals, and prayers for 2022!

  • I’m sure many people around the world have the same hope as I do.  I hope for an end to this Covid pandemic.  Far too many people have been lost.
  • I hope to find some peace in dealing with my inner turmoil because of the pandemic and staying home most of the time.
  • I hope to do some traveling this year.  We’ve gone on little day jaunts here and there, but this new omicron variant has us rethinking even those trips.
  • I don’t mind setting goals which is weird as I don’t like to set resolutions!  One of my goals this year is to lose weight and maintain the loss.  I have arthritis in both knees, and less weight will be less strain on them.
  • Another goal is to expand my blogging to three days a week.  Kudos to those bloggers who post every day of the week!
  • My next goal is to do more reading this year.  I used to read four or five books simultaneously.  I only read 52 books last year.  I think the problem has been using my iPad.  I like the feel of a book in my hands!  So, a demi-goal is to go to the actual library and get real books!
  • I’d like to finish some of my UFOs…unfinished objects…knitting and crocheting projects I’ve got going.  I have over 120 granny squares to connect up!  I have one sleeve of a beautiful cable knit cardigan done…one sleeve!  I also have one mitten finished.
  • I want to make exercise an integral part of my day. This means a 3-4 mile walk five days a week.
  • Another goal would be to learn a new craft of some kind.  Anyone have any ideas?
  • My last prayer is one of gratitude.  A few years ago, my best friend was hospitalized with a mysterious disease.  When I visited her, she was in a coma.  Thankfully, she recovered, and I thank God every night she is alive.

A February peek!

Of course, we’re going to be talking about love in February! Here’s the list of 10 questions so you can be thinking about them. Don’t worry. We’ll remind you later this month!

  1.  What was something you absolutely loved about 2021?
  2. Do you have an interesting love story you’d like to share?  Please do!
  3. What food do you love and must have on a regular basis?
  4. What fashion “trend” do you love?  It doesn’t even have to be a current trend.
  5. Which season do you love most?  Why is it your favorite?
  6. If you could be with a loved one who has passed, who would it be and what would you do?
  7. What would you love to accomplish in 2022?
  8. Which do you love most:  shoes, handbags, belts, or coats?
  9. What love remains with you today?
  10. How do you show your love?  What is your love language?

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I’m hopeful for this next year! I probably ought to print this out so I remember all of these goals! How about you? Do you have 10 on the 10th? Please leave me a comment with one, two, or ten of your prayers, wishes, hopes, and/or goals. I would love to see what you are planning for this next year!

  1. I am going to have to try to join and write a post next month! Hope you get those UFO completed lol! I used to read on my kindle all the time but in the last year, I have returned to reading books from the library.

    • Did you find reading on the kindle slowed you down in actually reading? I think it’s that. I hope it’s that because I love to read. It’s always been one of my favorite things to do!

  2. hello, nice meeting you here due to this link up! I have been participating in it for awhile, but I’ll be doing this one a day late (tomorrow!) I hope you get to do more reading and more crafts. I love both of those things myself! And of course, I agree on hoping for an end of Covid.

    • It’s nice to meet you, too! I’m so glad you came and visited me! Any suggestions for crafts? I love to knit, crochet, chalk paint, and needle felt. And, let’s hope this year brings an end to Covid.

Thanks so much for coming by!

  3. I’m so happy to read that your friend is doing well. I can’t imagine the fear you all must have felt.

I agree with you on trying to blog more consistently. I sit down at the computer with the best of intentions but never seem to follow through. But I’m definitely planning to do better this year.

That weight thing. I’m on that journey right along with you. Exercising isn’t my problem, eating is. I love food. *sigh*

I’m hoping that 2022 brings you both time for travel and for reading.

    • Oh, Daenel, when I saw her lying in that bed and seemingly so lifeless, my whole being was shook. She is such an integral part of my life and just the absolute best human being on the planet. She has some long-term effects from it.

Blogging is hard…I honestly never thought it would take this much time! Your blog is gorgeous…you are definitely nailing those photography skills! I’m trying to figure out what else to talk about. I don’t want to just post pictures (though there’s really nothing wrong with that). I like to tell stories so I need to plumb the depth of my memory!

Oh, I love food, too! And, it loves me right back…so much that it hates to leave! But, I truly detest exercising. Walking is boring, but it’s the best thing for me.

I hope 2022 brings you all kinds of happiness and success!

  4. Your first entry and mine are pretty much the same. These are all great aspirations, Marsha.

    • Oh, they are, aren’t they, Michelle! I just reread yours…I, too, hope we can come together as a country and reject the hate. I realize you’re not a religious person, but every night, when I say my prayers, I thank God for those scientists, doctors, and volunteers who got us these vaccines. If it were not for them, I don’t know where we’d be!

Thanks so much for the shoutout! I always tell my daughter I’m cool, but I don’t think she believes me!

  5. We just booked our family vacation last night; I’m hopeful we’ll have good weather and a great time in the Smokey Mountains this summer.

    • I hope to make it to Asheville this summer as well as Mackinac Island in the fall. Only time will tell, I guess, as Nigel is more leary of traveling than me! I love the Smokey Mountains! We have spent so many vacations there.

  6. Finish the UFOs?? Does that ever happen? LOL. I think I have 10 going right now!!

    • No, I don’t think it ever happens! I have been trying to use up lots of old yarn and have been working on an afghan (which is an adaptation of a scarf). It’s very colorful and warm. My youngest has already called dibs! I started a balaclava for him last night. Unfortunately or fortunately, I introduced him to Arne & Carlos. He’s convinced I can now knit him several of the sweaters! I could, but those guys knit Norwegian and sometimes do things a little differently from me.

Ten! You are definitely an overachiever! But, there’s just something so relaxing and rewarding about knitting and crocheting, isn’t there?

      Thanks, Jodie!

  7. I love this! I hope you reach all your goals this year and have an awesome 2022 <3

    Lots of love,

    • Oh, thank you so much, Krissi! I will have to check out your blog! I am hopeful about my goals and wishes.

      Thanks for coming by!

  8. I like your questions, these are great journal prompts… wonderful post, thank you for sharing my dear!

    • Thank you so much, Gingi! I like questions that are more open ended, right? I mean, what’s the fun in a questions that can be answered with a yes or no!

I look forward to next month!

  9. So glad to have you co-hosting with me for this year’s 10 on the 10th. I think you will bring some great ideas and energy to this series.

I think we all – everyone of us – mentioned Covid in our wishes, goals and prayers for the new year. We are all just exhausted with its impositions on our life, seeing our loved ones fall sick with this virus. I worry about its psychological effects on the children. My 2 year old granddaughter has spent so much of her life in her home, unable to go anywhere or do anything.

I am anxious to get back on track with exercise and healthy eating. We can do this!! I plan to write up my wellness journey goals for 2022 this coming weekend. Would love to have you join me. Writing my goals and sharing them helps keep me on track and accountable.

Love the term UFOs for unfinished projects. I have so many projects I need to wrap up. A cross stitch project that I started several years ago and have done approximately ten Xs on in the last year. Scrapbooking. Unfinished books. Paintings. Time for me to wind up things up, too.

Love that you ended the post with such a uplifting statement of gratitude. So glad your friend recovered her mysterious illness. How terrifying for her and for you. That is certainly a reminder that we should love our people well and never take a precious moment for granted.

Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with in response to your great February questions. This is going to be great fun!!

    • Leslie, I do wonder what Covid and all of its connections are doing to our youth. My oldest granddaughter is in seventh grade. She hasn’t had a normal year since fourth grade! It has been so very hard on me to stay home, not hug anyone (that first year, at least), and wear a mask (I gladly wear them now). I cannot imagine the mental anguish these kids are suffering even if they don’t recognize it. And, teenagers…life is so difficult for them…making life decisions…not being able to graduate…what a time. What will the future reveal about this time? Hopefully, the resilience we always talk about when speaking of youth comes through for them.

I would love to join you on your wellness journey. Let me know how and what you’re planning to do!

Oh, cross stitch! I have so many things I started back when it was THE thing to do…some of them are quite lovely. I really should get back to it. But, I’ve just started knitting a balaclava for my son…he thinks I can get it done in a couple of days…hahaha!

I hope everyone has a friend like mine…we don’t see each other for months and pick up as if it has just been an hour or two. She’s my good Judy, my ride or die! I love her as if she were my sister, and I do thank God almost every night (except for the ones when I fall asleep during my prayers) for her recovery.

I’ve got to start thinking about my own February answers!! I’m so glad we’ve teamed up!

  10. UFOs – ha, I’ve never heard it like that but, oh my, do I have some UFOs! And I’m joining you with that goal – here’s to a year of getting projects finished!:)

    • I’ve also heard them called WIPs (works in progress) and PHDs (projects half done)! I think it’s because Nigel is always watching these ancient aliens shows that UFO just instantly springs to mind!

I hope to finish at least a few!

      Thanks for coming by!

  11. Love your list and intentions. I share quite a few of them – I’m going to try to write 2 blog posts a week, which I used to do a couple of years ago. It’s the photography that takes the time. I’m also a keen reader but on a Kindle. I find a tablet too cumbersome to hold. I can’t remember when I last read a physical book. Probably 2010, because I got my first Kindle that year. Going to try to join you and Leslie for Feb’s post. Thanks for linking!

    • Thank you, Gail! I agree with you on the photography…I’d like to go up to three days a week, but then that’s three days of photos plus trying to figure out what to say for an extra day!

I hope my love for reading returns soon. I used to have a book in every room of the house and could put each down and pick each up and just go on. Now, I struggle with one!

Oh, I do hope you join us on the 10th. I have to remember to write mine!

      Thanks for coming by!

  12. I enjoyed your list and could relate to several of them as well.

    • Thanks so much! It seems to be highly relatable to many people, especially the covid one!

      Thanks for coming by!

  13. I loved reading your goals for this year. I hope that you will be able to accomplish them! I am definitely with you on the hope the pandemic will finally be over this year.

    • Thanks so much, Catherine! I am really beginning to wonder if this pandemic will ever end. We retired early so we could travel but that’s not happening right now! I hope I’m able to accomplish all of my goals, but only time will tell, right?

Thanks so much for coming by!
