Welcome back to 10 on the 10th! I almost missed it because I’m polishing up a new tour for the 10th! I’ve been lax in getting around to blogs, too. I don’t know how the 24 hours in a day go so quickly. I think I need 26 or 28. Are you weird about numbers? I am. I have to have everything…thermostats, volume, anything with a number set to an even number. I know, I know, I am strange that way. Can you believe it’s 2026? I really thought 2025 would be hurt-y. That was our street number for our house up north. I thought I’d think of it every time I wrote the number, but I didn’t. So, that’s one good thing to come out of last year. Anyway, it’s the very first 10 on the 10th of 2026! So, let’s get this show on the road, right? Don’t forget…there’s a link party, too!

- I won’t be participating in any marathons of any kind. I know that sounds like one of those things I would never ever have done anyway. But, I always wanted to take part in the Indy Mini. I wouldn’t have run, but I could have walked it. Now, with my wonky knees and bad back, I think I can safely say 2026 will pass without that happening. There’s always 2027, though.
- I won’t be buying a new car. OK, let me say, I’m not planning on buying a new car. Nigel has new car fever bad. I don’t know why because I’m usually the one who wants a new car. But, I like my little white Honda Civic. I do not like SUVs though that’s what I most often drive. I drive his because it’s easier for him to get in and out of. When it’s just me, it’s my trusty little Honda.
- I won’t be going on a knitting cruise with my Norwegian boyfriends. I would love to do this, but the price is astronomical (in my galaxy, that is). As much as I want to meet them one day, I just don’t think it’s going to happen on a knitting cruise. But, again, I say, “Never say never!”
- A new dog or pet is not in the works for the Haus der Mitte. I think we made a wee bit of a mistake when we got only one Westie when we got Jack. Our first two Westies weren’t blood brothers. We got them two years apart, but they entertained each other once we had both. I think Jack really needs the socialization and the exercise a brother would have given him. But, I’m too old to mess with a new puppy…OK, I’m not too old. I’m too lazy!
- Moving is also not in the plans for 2026. As much as I truly dislike this house (and, yes, I absolutely understand how lucky I am to have a house), we won’t be moving any time soon. Well, if our neighbors across the street would move, we’d be buying their house. I love it…from the bricks to the front door to all of the wonderfully glorious windows all around the house! It’s too bad it would be so doggone cost prohibitive to put more windows in this house (it’s all brick) because, trust me, I would have at least two if not three more put in the living room and a couple of the bedrooms.
- Well, let’s be honest here. I won’t be giving up shopping. I realize we are already 10 days into 2026, and I’ve already bought some new things. So, that wasn’t ever going to not be on this list.
- Let’s have some fun now, shall we? I won’t be skydiving. I hate roller coasters because of that swooping feeling you get in your stomach as you go down. So, jumping out of a plane? Nope, no way, not gonna happen!
- Starring in “The Life of Marsha!” I haven’t had anyone approach me about writing my life story. Well, my kids did, I guess, with my Storyworth subscription. But, besides that, no screenwriters, producers, or directors are beating down my door, demanding to make a movie all about me.
- Dang it…this has been an almost lifelong wish. But, I probably won’t be 5’10 anytime this year or the ones following. I would have even settled for 5’5!
- And, the last…I mean, this could happen. I won’t be winning the Powerball. The odds are pretty good because I think I’ve only bought two or three of those in the first place. But, I have had fun imagining spending the money!
Wrap it up, Marsha!
You know, this was a little harder than I thought it would be as long as I had to keep it fairly realistic. But, once I veered off into the silly, I had more fun! I can’t wait to read yours! So, can we talk? How do you feel about cars? Are you one of those who get new cars every couple of years? Or, is your car’s age in the decades? Would you star in your own memoir? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.
Thank you!
I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for reading, commenting, subscribing or emailing! It truly means so much to me! If you’d like to follow me on Instagram, you can find me here.

What do you mean, no one has approached you about “The Life of Marsha” yet? I’m shocked? How can they pass up such a cash cow? Just think of the merchandise!
Maybe that way I would haven’t missed the chapter about the Norwegian boyfriends, either.
I know! It’s shocking, isn’t it? Well, a cow might be involved, but no cash! You don’t know my Norwegian boyfriends? I’ll have to email you about them sometime! Thanks, Cat!
I think that I will agree with you on most of these points!
Thanks, Rosie! I would love to win the lottery, but you have to buy the tickets first!
We don’t buy cars a lot but unfortunately we had to in the summer due to an accident and now my kids have their licenses so we’re looking for a car for them, this was my first time joining this link up. Thanks for hosting!
Welcome, Jen! I’m glad to have you! Oof, that hurts when you have to because of an accident. We’ve only had that happen once. And, I hear you about buying cars when your kids start driving. That’s happening to my kids now, and they are not enjoying the experience!
This was such a fun post to both read and write. Thank you for this fun prompt! I’m new to your blog, and though I’ve participated a time or two in the past, I’ve never stopped to comment. Sorry about that, but I’m looking forward to being here more and getting to know you in the coming year. Thanks for the fun link party! Your first answer had me laughing. I wholeheartedly agree! Happy Saturday to you, my friend.
Thanks, Jenn! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll be over to read yours soon. I’m finding I just don’t have enough hours in the day to write blog posts, read and comment on others, write museum tours, and have a little down time. I hope you’ll visit often!
Nice post, I was going to put some things but it came out negative rather than funny, so I’ll stick to appreciating yours!
Thanks, Liz! My first go round was a bit on the negative side, too, so I had to rewrite it. But, I’m glad you appreciated mine!
The only new cars I’ve ever owned were prompted by my husband as in “it’s time for you to get a new car.” Then I make him do all the preliminary shopping and once it’s narrowed down to one or two I go check it out, shrug my shoulders, and day fine. I love my new car though and don’t have plans to replace it anytime soon…. as much as he might be pushing for another SUV. I love my little car!
Hahahaha – this is so funny and I relate 🙂
Everyone asks if I “love” my car and honestly, as much of a privilege as it is to have one, I too could care less. It’s not what I would have chosen but he loved it for me and so that is enough 🙂
Thanks, Joanne! Actually, I’m the one who always presses for a new car. We haven’t had much luck with buying pre-owned cars so I always insist on new ones. And, with the price of new SUVs, I’m now holding out until his practically falls apart! What kind of little car did you get? I must have missed that!
I hate that roller coaster swoopy stomach feeling too. it happens when I’m driving sometimes too. It’s the worst.
I won’t be winning the power ball either – have to pla6 t9 win – but if I do, there will be signs.
Thanks, Daenel! Oh, I remember when my older sister was just starting to drive, she’d found this country road that had a dip in it. We went back and forth over that dip just for that little bit of a swoopy stomach thing. I hated riding on a bus with a certain bus driver because she just tore down those country roads, and I was sure I was going to die!
That’s exactly why I won’t be winning the Power Ball!
We always laugh that to win the powerball you have to buy a ticket…
Xoxo
Jodie
Right? We have only bought them a handful of times…like when they reach the billions…because someone has to win so it might as well be me. Alas and alack…it never is!
This was so much fun! And thought-provoking 🙂
I’m often asked for the “question of the day” – thank you for the content for my next one. Don’t think I’ll have time to blog this but will consider it in the future.
Thanks, Jennibell! I was a little stumped for what to do, then it came to me…in the middle of the night as all good ideas do! I hope you’ll tag me if you use it for a post. I’d love to read it!
This was fun Marsha!! I will be buying a ‘new’ car this year. Well, not a new car, a second hand car, but it till be new to me lol! As much as I love my jeep renegade, it’s not much fun to drive so we’re selling it to but another Abarth like we had before but this one will be all mine lol!
I won’t be jumping out of a plane either lol I also won’t be caving (that idea terrifies me!). I will win the lottery though 😉
Big hugs
Suzy xx
Thanks, Suzy! I used to like going on cave tours, but I didn’t like the really tight places. I don’t think I could do them now as my claustrophobia has gotten worse over the years. Ah, that’s too bad about your Jeep. I had to google an Abarth. I was pretty sure I knew what they were, but I wanted to make sure. They are such cute cars…are you going to get green? I dread the day we have to replace Mike’s SUV. It’s a smaller one, but it’s almost 14 years old and starting to show its age. I’d love an Audi, but the price…yikes!
WOW you used to go on cave tours? I like caves when they’re huge and they have proper steps to them lol. We went on a cave tour near Washington DC a few years ago and it was amazing (it inspired some of the scenes in my Raven Witch Saga series!) but I couldn’t do tight spaces, no way!
I’m still open to different colours for the Abarth, although if there was a green one available when we go to buy it, I’d probably choose it lol! Currently there’s a really nice bright blue one that I like, but I also like the red. There is actually a pale green one available but it’s a special edition so costs a bit more! We’ll see what happens when the times comes! We had a viewing yesterday so keeping our fingers crossed she might buy my car!
Big hugs xx
Yep, I started when I was very young on family vacations. Then, we’d go to caves when my kids were born, and we often traveled with my mom. She loved caves. When we bought my little Honda, they only had three colors…black, white, and chartreuse which was a lot more, too. It’s not like the old days when there were so many colors from which to choose. I honestly don’t know what color I’d want. I tend to like grey cars…weird, right? I hope your car sells really quickly!
I would definitely watch “Life with Marsha!” You had me giggling from beginning to end of this post! It’s been such fun to read people’s “10 on the 10th” posts this month – so creative and so entertaining! On another note, I, too, need more hours in the day! I thought life would slow down when I retired but I can’t seem to juggle it all! Plus, my eyes are so dry this time of year (thank you, winter weather) and they get tired looking at the screen. World problems, I know! Have a good week!
Thanks, Laura! Your answer made me giggle, too! Who do you think they’d pick to star as me? Isn’t it odd how the hours pass so quickly now? I just don’t know how I did it when I was teaching. I have dry eyes and am on eye drops for them, but I know looking at my laptop doesn’t help, either.
I dislike uneven numbers, however…… I now don’t like even accessories on me anymore……. I’m weird too lol.
We can be weird together, Nancy! You have such beautiful accessories, though! I hope you find a way to wear them that doesn’t bother you.
Thanks, my friend!
What a fun theme!! Enjoyed reading your list. Wish you would reconsider about getting a brother for Jack. You wouldn’t necessarily have to get a puppy, But it might actually make life easier for you in the long run!!
I’m sorry this house hasn’t turned out to be your forever home. I think we are staying put for the duration. When our knees just won’t let us climb the stairs any more, we can sleep in the downstairs guest room and just pretend we don’t have a second story. I really dislike moving.
Glad you didn’t rule out the Indy Mini for next year. I’m sorry you are having such knee issues. My knees has been tuning up lately and I read something somewhere that suggested often times feet issues are behind knee pain. I think my broken foot probably caused me to walk weird and now my knees are a mess. Always something, huh? I totally believe you could walk 13 miles if you can get the knee pain resolved.
Good luck playing the lottery. But if that doesn’t work out, maybe you will be approached about doing your life story on the big screen. Or seeing your Storyworth turned into a best selling novel/memoir.
XO
Hahaha!!! You crack me up, Leslie! I am not going to hold my breath about the lottery, the movie, or a best selling memoir! I have pretty bad arthritis behind the kneecaps of both knees. I’m working on my physical therapy and just moving a lot to keep from having to have them replaced soon. Many people tell me sooner is better than later, but I don’t know. Mike says we should have stayed in the last house and installed a chair on the staircase. The problem with our downstairs was there wasn’t any place to put in a full bath. But, gosh do I miss those windows! That’s what bothers me most about this house is how dark it is. I miss all that natural light. I’m not sure Jack would be good with another dog. He’s very much an alpha dog though he wants to be friends with the neighbor’s dog who is also an alpha dog!
I probably won’t be doing any of these either, especially skydiving. I’m terrified of heights!
I didn’t think I was afraid of heights until we were in the whispering gallery at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. I had an actual panic attack. But, I think it would be the swoopy feeling in my stomach that would ultimately stop me! Well, that and the fear of death!
