10 on the 10th: May!

The fifth month: May!

May is filled with all kinds of holidays and such…Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day…but there’s more to May than that!  The month kicks off with World Laughter Day on May 1st!  And, if there is anything we need it is definitely more laughter!  Let’s add in Frog Jumping Day on May 13th, and we can toad-ally have some kind of fun with that!  Oh, but wait, there’s more!!  National Dance Like a Chicken Day follows right behind on May 14th!  Talk like Yoda Day, May 20th is.  You get the picture, right?  Which 10 things do you think you May do this coming month?   Please join me even if you don’t have a blog. You can drop a few in the comments!

My list!

  •  I may plant flowers in some pots but probably not too many.
    • I usually plant between three and four flats of annuals.  Last year, I planted sweet potato vines in my big clay pots around the deck.  When we were readying everything for winter last fall, we discovered all kinds of sweet potatoes in the pots!  I, of course, googled to see if they were edible.  They are edible, but their texture and taste are different from traditional sweet potatoes.  As I don’t like sweet potatoes anyway,  it didn’t really matter to me.  In the end, Nigel threw them out!  I wanted to try planting them again this year.
Wax begonias are some of my favorites!
  • I may get a pedicure.
    • I definitely did this! Something big is coming to the blog! Be sure to check my Instagram for a hint! This is the first pedicure I’ve had in maybe two two years.  I’m trying to remember if I got one last year before we went on vacation.  Pedicures are not as relaxing to me as they may be to most of you.  My right foot is fine, but my left foot screams and yells!  I was so overwhelmed by the number of colors; I couldn’t even begin to tell you what color this is!
Ignore the scars…that surgeon did not get a good grade in embroidery!
  • I may try a new place to sell clothing.
    • I don’t seem to have much luck selling on Poshmark.  I have a few things listed, and the offers I get for them are laughable as well as insulting.  I’ve heard of a place called Style Encore.  There is a location fairly close to me so I’m going to be visiting there.  I have a number of things I’d like to sell.  In the past, I have donated to a local clothing pantry.  But, they aren’t accepting the kinds of items I have right now.
  • I may start yoga.
    • Hahaha!!  I always plan to start yoga!  I know a few basic poses and even have a couple of YouTube channels I like.  But, it’s the starting, isn’t it?  Nigel’s gastroenterologist told him it was good for gut health so maybe I’ll actually do it this time!

I can actually do this pose! I cannot, however, do it like this!
  • I may try to make an Instagram reel.
    • As I said something big is coming to Marsha in the Middle!  One of the things I need to learn to do is an Instagram reel.  I have to tell you that is reeeeaaaalllly pushing me out of my comfort zone!  Are all of you a little surprised when you hear a recording of yourself?  I always have been!  I’m going to have to lots of googling and watching videos!

Yeah…this pretty much sums it up!
  • I may book a vacation.
    • Oh, as much as I’d like to say I’m definitely going to do this, I can’t say that.  There’s just too much going on in our lives right now.  And, with this endlessly mutating virus still making its way around, I’m not sure how much fun I’d have.  Nigel would be worried, and that makes me anxious.

  • I may buy some new lighting.
    • This is a definite.  I’ve already bought a couple of pendants to hang over the island.  A chandelier is on its way to our house, but I don’t know if I’ll like it or not.  It’s so hard to visualize things from just a couple of pictures online.  The stores around us have limited lighting in supply.  I like the caged farmhouse look, but I doubt I’ll like it in a couple of years.  The other problem is convincing Nigel to actually spend more than he wants to!
  • I may buy a new car.
    • Nah, I’m not buying a new car.  My Norwegian boyfriends leased an electric car.  Apparently, Norway is big into electric cars and has lots of charging stations.  My youngest son has a hybrid car and loves it.  If money were no object, what would I choose?  Hmmm…

Oh, I’ll take the house, too! Might as well dream big!

  • I may invest in a new hair dryer.
    • There isn’t really anything wrong with my hair dryer so I won’t be buying a new one any time soon.  But, I’m so intrigued by the Dyson hair dryer.  Everyone to whom I talk tells me I wouldn’t need one because my hair is so thin and fine.  But, I kinda want one, and I could use my Ulta points to drastically cut the cost.  Let me know in the comments if you have one and what you think of it.
  • I may watch way too many YouTube videos!
    • Oh, this is a definite yes!!  I watch YouTube as I do my hair and makeup.  I’m not sure why I ever started watching them.  I used to read a book as I curled my hair.  Obviously, I don’t read as I do my makeup.  Now, Nigel knows when I’m going up to shower and get around, it will be a good hour at least!  So much of that time is me leaning on the vanity just watching!  I love Nadi at the Official Pop Luxe, my Norwegian boyfriends, Arne and Carlos, Emily D. Baker, a legal analyst, and Lucy Worsley.  Oh, and Lord John MacLean is an absolute hoot as is Nikkie Tutorials.  I could go on and on!

No sneak peek…

I will have June’s questions up in a week or two. Please be patient with me!

  1. Good for you for getting out of your comfort zone with these many things in May. I know you will have no problem doing a Insta Reel. I recommend the app InShot for that. And yes on the yoga. If you get the dryer, I can’t wait for the review because I have considered it. Thanks for the link up Marsha!

    • I do enjoy yoga when I do it…it’s the actually doing it that I have a problem with! Oh, thanks for the pointer. I will look into that app. I need all of the help I can get! Maybe I should get the dryer and do an Insta Reel with that? Just kidding!!

  3. If you get the Dyson hair dryer I hope you do a review! I have such thick hair that I’m curious if it will really cut the time and if it’s worth it. I have been getting new lights for our house as well. Most of ours are brass from the 90s and we are slowly trying to replace them. May is the perfect month for planting. Fingers crossed the. bunnies don’t get to my flowers-but I’m going to try the mix you recommended!

    • Well, Laura, my experience would be vastly different from yours! My hair is so stick straight, thin and fine…it doesn’t really take that long to dry in the first place.

I do love redecorating, but this is for a completely different project. Oh, the bunnies have decimated my plants already before I even had a chance to sprinkle my potion on them! Why they can’t eat the other plants I’m trying to get rid of I’ll never know!

      Thanks for coming by, Laura!

  4. Oh IG Reels, definitely a learning curve and something I love to hate and hate to love! It is always good to step outside our comfort zone and try something new though.
I have heard mixed reviews about the Dyson hair dryer so if you do get it, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • I will let you know, Kellyann, about the dryer. I doubt I will get one because they’re ridiculously priced, but I’d love to borrow one to try! I know you can return things, but I hate doing that!

I’m going to do some more exploring about the reels. Actually, I have to do it so I might as well just step up to the plate and do it, right! That’s what YouTube is for!

      Thanks for coming by, Kellyann!

  5. I really need a pedicure!

    • Oh I really want to learn about reels too! It’s so time consuming! And finally a pedicure!! Lol. Isn’t it great?

      • Yes, the pedicure felt so good…to my right foot! My left foot said, “OK, do whatever you have to” I’m hoping reels aren’t too hard. I think the hardest part will be watching myself!

    • Tell me about it. I always feel like I need to do a mini pedicure before going in so they don’t talk about me! I hope you get one soon!

  6. I love the colour you picked for your pedicure! 🙂 And it sounds like you have some fun things planned! 🙂

Hope your week is off to a good start!

    • Thanks, Mica! I almost always pay attention to the color so I remember it if I like it. But, I was just so frazzled for some reason! I hope you are having a fabulous week and the family is well!

  7. I did it, Marsha! I wrote a 10 on the 10th post! Yay! I definitely recommend yoga for everyone! It has seriously solved so many physical issues for me. My joints have never felt better and my mental health has never been better either! I really enjoyed reading your 10 things that you may do this summer! I should get a pedicure! But today I am going for my first hair cut in 2 years so that’s something.

    Shelbee

    • Hahaha!! I’m so proud of you, Shelbee! Your list is fabulous…especially those boots! Ah, how I long for a pair of Old Gringo boots. I can see you kicking ass and taking names with these! Our neighborhood is having a garage sale this weekend…I will not be participating!! I don’t have the inclination to barter over a skirt or a glass or whatever I might be selling. I’m such a stick in the mud at times!

  8. I’m joining in via my blog this is a great way to get back to basic blogging and how fun is this.

    • Thank you so much for coming over! I’ve just begun blogging and have enjoyed getting to “know” so many different people!

  9. Yes, starting yoga appears on mine! LOL! We shall see. And while I didn’t put these in my list, I may get a pedicure and learn about Insta reels. But I wasn’t committed enough to put them on my list. Good list, Marsha! And thanks for hosting!

    • Thanks, Michelle, for your tips on how to make the link button! Leslie said she hoped to be back for June. But, I bet we could always come up with a new something or other! Now, go get that pedicure!

  10. I definitely need a pedicure! Wonderful Post! Have a great day!

  11. I loved your list!!! Just added mine. My calendar reminded me yesterday that this was today and so I scrambled to get my list made. Can’t wait to visit everyone else. I usually get so many more ideas.

    • Oh, I’m so glad you made it, Kirstin! After I finished it, I thought of so many more things!

  12. I’ll push you to try a yoga class Marsha. At first I wasn’t a huge fan because it wasn’t the same sweating and hard workout I was used to. But now I’m into the kinder and gentler workouts and it’s great.
    XOXO

    • Oh, I used to take yoga classes…they really are a workout and yet so relaxing! I just need to get back into it!

  13. Our family used to celebrate Star Wars Day (May the 4th!); it was a fun homeschooling holiday where we had all our schoolwork for the day centered around Star Wars. I’ve just started doing Yoga each morning for 30 minutes using Youtube videos (mostly Yoga with Adrienne) and I am really hoping to make it a habit. My goal is 30 minutes for 30 days right now.

    • Sounds like a wonderful goal, Joanne! My son-in-law is really into Star Wars…shame on me for forgetting Star Wars Day! I have videos and dvrs…I just need to do the yoga!

  14. I’ve been wanting to go on vacation too, but between the variants and everything else that’s going on, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. But, man, do I enjoy seeing everyone’s holiday pictures. I guess I really need to figure out how to do a real staycation….

    • This virus…it’s like we get to a point where we think we’ve got it whipped, and it says, “Oh, you think so? Well, try this one!” We’ve taken a couple of mini vacations…just day trips, really.

  15. I’m intrigued by that hairdryer as well…but don’t think it will be a new purchase any time too soon. Glad you are still doing the link-up. Thanks for keeping it going! Here’s to a great finish to May!! Yoga and all:)

    • Thanks, Jennifer! I hope to have Leslie back sometime in the future. I would really like to take the dryer for a test drive, but the initial outlay…sheesh! I’ll have to do a follow up on the yoga, right?

  16. Love this post, I celebrate my birthday in May and I may have a big celebration ( I will) Nice to link up too! I will stop by again Hun, have a super week. Jacqui x

  17. Aww, I missed this one. But enjoyed yours. I also plant up containers! Still doing it – never ending. On my list I have a few places I want to visit, and I’ve booked six MeetUps to have some company while I do it. I also want to do a tour of London’s hidden underground stations, and book a nice place for our anniversary dinner, which will not be on the day because Mr Mutton is off cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats (very long way). Thanks for linking!

    • Gail, my laptop or my internet was wonky the other day. I’m not sure if my reply posted. I don’t see it so I’ll reply again! I’m so glad you are getting out and about and have people to see! That makes all the difference, doesn’t it? I didn’t know there were tours of the underground’s hidden stations. I would love that! I hope we make it back to the UK in the next few years before Nigel decides he’s too old. All of a sudden, he’s convinced himself he’s an old man, and nothing I can say will change his mind! I do hope you have a fabulous anniversary dinner! Our 46th is in June so I’d better start thinking about that!

Thanks so much for coming by!

  18. This was so fun!! I am sorry I missed May! I am totally putting a pedicure on my list.

I love yoga!! I used to do it all the time before Wyatt made his arrival – now I just always say I am going to do yoga again. Maybe start with Yoga with Adriene on YouTube to get used to it first? I really like her.

    • I will definitely look into Adrienne on YouTube. I always feel so good after yoga…it’s the before part I have problems with! I hope you can join us in June…no pressure!
