I was not going to talk about the weather, I promise. I wasn’t, but then it changed so dramatically. Last Monday, we had the air conditioning on. Nigel turned the furnace on Thursday or Friday…just to see if it was working! We have had very cool days in the 50s (10C) and lows in the 40s (4.5C). Tonight, we actually have a frost advisory! So, I covered up my rose bushes and brought all the ferns onto the patio and covered them, too! I’m betting we’ll still have some days in the 70s (21C) before the weather well and truly turns.
October is my absolute favorite month! It’s my birthday month, and I would love to say I celebrate it all month long. But, I don’t. I’m not 100% sure my family even realizes my birthday is this month. I was tempted to do the Would You Rathers around birthdays, but it’s probably not your birthday month, right? I do hope you enjoyed this month’s version anyway! Please either link up your post (and any others you’d like), comment, or email me your answers.
Without further ado…
Would you rather soak your feet in pumpkin innards or in creamed corn? This one was really easy for me. Pumpkin has antioxidants that would help with those nasty cracked heels. It also smells better than creamed corn which reminds me of that fake vomit you used to be able to buy! So, I’d definitely pick the pumpkin innards as long as someone else scoops them out!
Would you rather dance with a scarecrow or play poker with a mummy? Hmmm…it has already been established I have no rhythm, but I also don’t entirely understand the rules of poker. It seems like there are so many different kinds of poker games. I wonder if I have a poker face? I think I’d rather play poker with a mummy and chance losing over dancing with a scarecrow and looking worse than said scarecrow!
Would you rather eat an apple dipped in caramel or a pumpkin muffin iced with cream cheese frosting? Another easy one for me! I only like really, really crisp almost not-quite-ripe apples so those are usually a no-no with me. And, I happen to love pumpkin muffins. Add the cream cheese frosting, and I’m yours! Strangely enough, I don’t like pumpkin pie at all…doesn’t matter how much whipped cream you put on it, either.
Would you rather dress as a clown or as a monster for an entire week? Hmmmm…there might be some who say I already do the former! Clowns don’t bother me as a rule with the exception of the season of “American Horror Story” when it took place at a carnival. I think I’d rather be a monster, though, because I could go with all different kinds of monsters each day of the week.
Would you rather rake leaves or burn marshmallows? OK, I admit it. This one is really, really goofy! There is nothing connecting the two except for fire, right? I would rather burn marshmallows because it’s much easier than raking leaves. But, I do love a good leaf fire, not that we’ve had any for several years now.
Would you rather smell like a bonfire or like a cinnamon stick for the whole month? As much as I like a bonfire, I would have to go with the cinnamon stick since it’s for an entire month. While I think I’d soon tire of the smell, there’s nothing to say I couldn’t layer another smell over it, right?
Would you rather watch a scary movie or go ghost hunting? I think I’ll go ghost hunting. I hate scary movies. I remember watching the original “Halloween” movie and being petrified for weeks on end. Nigel worked second shift and wasn’t home when I went to bed (the days before I turned into a night owl). I was sure Michael Myers was lurking right outside my window. As for ghost hunting, I remember going on a ghost tour in Charleston one summer. It took place after the sun set, and we ended up in an old, deserted theater. I was sure someone was going to jump out and scare the willies out of us. They actually missed a prime opportunity because no one did. Maybe they used to do that, and something happened. I don’t really know!
Would you rather stay overnight in a haunted house or a cemetery? This is rather a tough one. It depends on whether or not the house is well and truly haunted. If it is, no thank you very much. As for cemeteries, I’m not really spooked by them. Our last house was right beside a cemetery as in just across the trail. It was no longer “active,” and most of the graves dated to the 1700s and 1800s. When my dad first died, Mom and I would often take midnight rides out to his grave. It was incredibly peaceful. As for spending the night, I would guess the haunted house might be more comfortable, but I’d still opt for the cemetery.
Would you rather eat pumpkin pie or apple crisp? Oh, I guess I already gave the answer away for this one! I don’t like pumpkin pie. It’s the texture, mainly, but I don’t even like the taste. But, warm apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the epitome of a fall treat. I remember having that as a dessert when I was a kid way back in the 60s and 70s!
Would you rather be in a pie eating contest or a pumpkin carving contest? Does cheesecake count as pie? Honestly, I think I’ll go for the pumpkin carving contest as I just know I’d stuff myself with pie. Then, I’d feel miserable for days. So, even though I’d never win the carving contest, that’s my pick!
Wrap it up, Marsha!
I love 10 on the 10th! It’s a fun way to find out more about different bloggers. I also must admit I sometimes…OK, most of the time…struggle with answering the questions myself! So, can we talk? How do you feel about Would Your Rathers? Is there question you wish had been there and wasn’t? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as I can!

Haha, what a questions! I hate pumpkins. To eat and to look at. I just hate the round, orange…….I cannot even describe it in English. Just hate it. I love Halloween though, but we don’t do that here!
Nancy, you are hilarious! I do love pumpkins…except for pumpkin pie which is disgusting! Do you have anything like Halloween there?
I love all your fun answers. I am a scaredy cat so I wouldn’t want to stay in a haunted house or cemetery. Lol! But give me all the Halloween treats.

These questions remind me of a movie we just watched where she always ask the guy weird questions like this. Now don’t ask me what the movie is because I can’t remember but if I think of it I’ll let you know.
Anyway it’s a no-go on scary movies at all!!
Xoox
Jodie
Hahaha!!! I can’t remember the names of movies or books so we’re good! I don’t even like the scary movies that are supposed to be funny scary movies.
Thanks, Jodie!
Hahaha!!! Yes to the Halloween treats…especially Reese’s peanut butter cups!!! Cemeteries don’t bother me, but a truly haunted house would do me in!
Thanks, Kathrine, for coming by!
Thanks again for the questions! I enjoyed your answers!!
You are very welcome, Lisa! I’m glad you joined in on the fun!
I was kind of confused at first when you mentioned raking leaves and burning marshmallows both involve fire since we don’t burn leaves up here. We rake them either into the woods or most towns have a leaf pickup day and everyone just rakes their leaves to the curb. I don’t like pumpkin pie at all either! But I do love just about anything made with cream cheese frosting. YUM!
I hadn’t thought about leaf pick up. We lived outside city limits back when we had mountains and mountains of leaves so we could burn them. It was always a big deal to make sure we didn’t actually burn a tree down at the same time!
I am with you on the pumpkin pie and the cream cheese! My mom once made a pumpkin layered cheesecake…didn’t even try it!
Thanks for coming by, Joanne!
I love your ten on the 1oth..so fun!! That marshmallow roasted..looks so yum too!

These were super fun questions this month! I really enjoyed thinking about them and answering them. Freddy Krueger was my Michael Myers. I was always afraid he would get in my dreams and I suffered from really terrible nightmares to begin with until I was well into my 30s! So no thank you for scary movies. When I was a kid, I loved pumpkin pie but I hated pie crust so my mother always made me a special crustless pumpkin pie. It was basically pumpkin custard! LOL Looking forward to November’s questions!
Shelbee
Thanks, Shelbee! I always love the Would You Rathers, but I figure I need to change it around each month. I have never seen any of the Freddy Krueger movies because just the posters were enough. As for pumpkin pie, I just can’t get around the texture though I love cheesecake. I’m weird, and I own it! I have to figure out a theme for November because I’d really rather not go with gratitude…so cliched!
Wow!
I love the antioxidants in pumpkin and how they are going on your feet, Marsha.
Thanks, Adelaide! I haven’t actually used them on my feet…yet!
How does pumpkin even taste really? I always say it tastes like a wanna be sweet potato but its not. Loved your answers and as always love joining in on this every month.
Oh, Kita! I think you may be right except I don’t like sweet potatoes. I think what I taste is more the spices added to it. You are on to something! I’m so glad you join in, Kita! Your answers always make me laugh…actually, it’s your voice that makes me laugh!
Thanks, Kita!!
I am not a Halloween person, but love sweet sugary cooked pumpkin, although not pumpkin pie.
