Gallery of Style: Sense of Sight!

Gallery of Style by Annie Louisa Swynnerton

I think this is a stunning piece of art! It’s so ethereal and magical with the pastel colors and the feathers, and the billowing fabric! Just otherworldly! If you want to read the post with all the info and more information about my look, you can find it here. The interpretations for the artwork are quite varied! So, without further ado…

Gallery of style…

First up is Sally from Within a World of My Own. She says, “I focused on the soft pink/rose/mauve dress she is wearing for my interpretation, bringing in a blush “twin set” for the top and dusky rose pants for the bottom.  Stylistically, I thought the ombre scarf did a nice job of replicating the draping and gauzy top portion of her dress.  Of course I had to add a bracelet set I made to coordinate with the sweater, and I popped on a new pair of dagger earrings I made that have a bit of a feather/wing vibe.  I’ve never heard of an angel in a puffer vest, but if there are any angels in February in Minnesota, they’d do well to try it themselves :)”

Next up is Shelbee who writes, “Even though the painting had a similar color palette as the previous challenge, it was super easy for me to style. I have so many wardrobe items in these colors that my only difficulty was narrowing it down to one outfit. With some creative layering, I was able to style some new warm weather pieces that I purchased on clearance in the fall. I bought this green gauzy sundress and rusty orange kimono robe on the same shopping trip but never thought to pair them together until this art challenge. Turns out they work beautifully together! And they also work beautifully with my new green eel skin cowgirl boots. Once I had the green and orange color palette established, I focused on little details from the painting. To represent the wings, I wore a butterfly print scarf. The colors in the scarf not only coordinate with my dress/robe combination, but the scarf also reflects the white in the wings. Since I didn’t have any blue in my outfit, I wore a navy blue cloche hat with a light green scarf band and an old cameo brooch. The cameo very much reminds me of paintings from this era. I also wore feather earrings with blue beads to represent the wings and the sky.”

Here is Salazar who writes, “I built it around the skirt – the color and the pleats remind me of the wings of the girl in the painting, and the collar of my blouse, the pattern of the cardigan, and the cut-outs on my shoes are to pick up the other colors and shapes. I also added my feather pin.”

Finally, here I am! As I stated in my post about the artwork, I didn’t really think about how similar this piece was to the one chosen by Salazar the last time. In fact, I ended up wearing the same Kantha Bae Woodstock Short Kimono! I knew I would wear this Crepe Wild Rose Skirt as soon as I saw the art. I just wore it over the kimono, added a belt and my Shay sandals and bingo, bango, boingo! I had my look!

And, that’s a wrap for this Gallery of Style!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Gallery of Style for Style Imitating Art…thank you to Sally, Salazar, Daenel, and Shelbee for participating. Remember, you don’t have to have a blog to be a part of this style challenge. You can send a photo to the curator to be included in the gallery of style! We’d love to have more people join in! You can also still send me a photo, and I’ll edit the post to include you!

Coming up…
