Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 149!

Life goes on here at Haus der Mitte. I’ve become quite adept at administering Nigel’s antibiotics. He’s gotten really good at transferring from the chair to the wheelchair, the wheelchair to the toilet, the toilet to the wheelchair. The hardest part for him is getting in and out of bed because he can’t let his right leg cross his midline. We had a check up the other day when they removed the stitches. We also have an appointment for the next aspiration. So, it looks like he’ll either have a new hip or another antibiotic spacer sometime around the first or second week of May. Let’s hope it’s the hip, right? Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I’m not sure about times right now, but I will still be aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Nicole at Huisvlijt which translates to Home Crafts.

Nicole says, “How nice that you’re here! Feel free to look around, and have a cup of coffee or tea while you’re at it.” You can find Nicole here, and please tell her we sent you! You can easily switch to English or Dutch by selecting the language at the top left.

Want to know more about us…

Marsha from Marsha in the Middle started blogging in 2021 as an exercise in increasing her neuroplasticity.  Oh, who are we kidding?  Marsha started blogging because she loves clothes, and she loves to talk or, in this case, write!

Melynda from Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household  – The name says it all, we homestead in East Texas, with three generations sharing this land. I cook and bake from scratch, between gardening and running after the chickens, and knitting!

Lisa from Boondock Ramblings shares about the fiction she writes and reads, her faith, homeschooling, photography and more.

Cat from Cat’s Wire is a bookworm, movie fan, crazy cat lady, armed with beads, cabs, wire and a very jumpy brain which loves to go down rabbit holes!

Rena from Fine, Whatever writes about style, midlife, and the “fine whatever” moments that make life both meaningful and fun. Since 2015, she’s been celebrating creativity, confidence, and finding joy in the everyday.

  2. I loved that Van Gogh post too! There have been so many really good posts lately. I’ve really enjoyed going through them.

  3. Thanks Marsha and the gang for all you do! I hope Nigel is recovering and things go your way soon.

  4. You sound like you’re providing great care! I hope you aren’t getting too exhausted. It’s a lot of stress you carry (to protect your patient!!).
Hopefully it’s almost in the speedy recovery stage…

    • Thank you, Lydia! I am tired, but it’s a good tired. I’m making sure we both get the nutrition and rest we need. Hopefully, we’ll soon be back to the way we were a few years ago.

  5. Thanks for hosting Marsha! Have a good weekend!

  6. My fingers stay crossed for the revision happening rather earlier than later!
Have a great – and hopefully not too exhausting – weekend.

    • Thanks, Cat! I’m hoping for that, too! I have a tour at the museum on Saturday, but the rest of the weekend will be an easy one.

  7. Thanks for hosting, Marsha. It’s good to hear that Nigel is making progress. We’re all hoping that a new hip will be the choice in May. thanks so much for the feature for the thrifted crystal glasses. Thrifting is always an adventure and you never know what you will find. Have a lovely week.
    Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland

    • Thank you so much, Lynne! I’m hoping for that hip, too. But, if we have to do another round of antibiotics, I’ll definitely be a pro at it! I’m so glad you link up with us! Those glasses were spectacular!

  8. Oh, how fun! I love this new format and I love Nicole’s blog! She is so creative and always gets me giggling! I am still keeping you and Mike in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I am glad that you have adapted to the current lifestyle changes and I really hope that everything gets back to normal for you both soon. Sending hugs, my friend.

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee! I’m so glad you like the new format. We are working on our new normal, but I have every hope that the old normal will return by summer!

  9. Thanks for the medical update, Marsha. I feel for your husband. When I had spine surgery, I had not anticipated how hard getting out of bed would be. Praying for continued progress. I appreciate the chance to contribute to the link-up.

    • Thank you, Aletha! We have learned a few tricks that the therapists seem to think are silly, but they work for us. I’m glad you link up with us!

  10. *keeping fingers crossed for the new hip!* Thanks for keeping us updated.

  11. Hi, Marsha – It must seem to Nigel like he’s going through an interminable dismobility. I’m glad that your attitude is positive and encouraging. He’s lucky to have that. My best to both of you. Thank you so much for the feature mention in the Traffic Jam Reboot – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    • Thanks, Angie! We have been talking about that a lot…his feeling of not being able to do the things he loves for so long. We had a little “come to Jesus” moment the other day when I told him he had to start thinking positively because the body follows the brain in so many ways! And, you are very welcome for the feature!

  12. You and Nigel have been on such a journey, Marsha! I pray all is going well and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel soon! I’ve been a bit behind with blog business this week – the stomach flu hit! No fun at all! Hopefully things are looking up for us all! Have a wonderful spring weekend ahead!

    • Oh, I hate the stomach flu! It’s just the worst, isn’t it? I hope you’re soon feeling 100%. We have definitely been on a journey, but we’re optimistic that light is creeping ever closer. It’s surprising just how much time blogging…writing, reading, and commenting…takes. But, we love it, and so we do it! I’m so glad you read mine.
