10 on the 10th: April!

Gosh, it was strange to go back and read last month’s 10 on the 10th! I was so hopeful Nigel’s (and mine) long journey to walk was about to come to fruition. Unfortunately, as most of you know, the revision didn’t take place due to an infection in the joint. I’m hopeful we’ll know more by next month’s 10 on the 10th! But, let’s get to the fun stuff, right?

  • Magic carpet or crystal ball? Oh, this is a tough one. A crystal ball would tell the future, right? I’m not sure I really want to know my future. What if I found out I am going to have a terrible accident or develop some awful disease. But, a magic carpet could take me places I’ve only dreamed about. And, since this is my post and my Would You Rather, I’m going to say this carpet can fly quickly as well as through space and time. So, yeah! I’m going with a magic carpet. I’ll see you when I get back from Paris!
  • Teleport anywhere instantly or read people’s minds? While I think it would be fun to read someone else’s mind, I also think there might be things lurking in there I don’t want to know. I mean, what if I came across a serial killer at the museum and could read his mind? Maybe, he’d be picking out his next victim! So, I’m going to have to go with teleporting anywhere instantly. It seems I’m going to be doing lots of traveling in the future!
  • Chocolate-flavored broccoli or broccoli-flavored chocolate? Seriously, I’ll be impressed or very surprised if anyone picks broccoli-flavored chocolate. I don’t mind broccoli if it’s cooked right. I don’t think the combination of chocolate and broccoli sounds very tasty. Now, chocolate-flavored broccoli is another thing. I wonder if the calories of chocolate are part and parcel of the combination. Like I said, I don’t mind broccoli, but I do love the flavor of chocolate. But, now I’m wondering if, eventually, the flavor would become distasteful anyway. Things to ponder, right?
  • Talking toilet or talking refrigerator? Hahaha!!! Oh, I think both of these would be hilarious. I mean, your toilet might be telling you how stinky you are, or that you need more fiber. Then, your refrigerator could tell you that last piece of cheesecake will make your butt bigger. Or, it could say, “Marsha, drink more milk and less Diet Coke! As weird as it sounds, I think I’d rather have a talking toilet. It could be the highlight of my day!
  • Sneeze glitter or cry jelly? Oh, this one is easy! I would definitely want to sneeze glitter! I have bad allergies, but they’re more along the lines of a leaky nose than a sneezy one. But, still! Wouldn’t that be fun to see people walking through gardens and see little puffs of glitter as they sneeze? Crying jelly would just be a mess, and I’m not that big a fan of jelly.
  • Make a snowman or build a sandcastle? Y’all know I love winter, but I have never been a fan of making a snowman simply because I can never get the head on top of it! The ball of snow always seems to collapse as I try to get it up there…short girl problems, right? But, if I’m building a sandcastle…that must mean I’m on a beach somewhere. Now, that’s something I can get into. I love the beach. Alas and alack, Nigel does not. He spends his time, when we go to the beach, on the deck of wherever we are. Sometimes, he’s a real party pooper!
  • Pet unicorn or pet dragon? This is an easy one, too! Pet dragon all the way! I love dragons, and I believe dragons once roamed this planet. I’m not talking dinosaurs, either. A pet dragon would love you and not singe your hair and burn off your eyebrows. A pet dragon, if treated nicely, would take you on flights of pure magic! Oh, yes, it’s a dragon for me!
  • Funniest person or smartest person in the room? Now, this one is a hard one. I have been the smartest person in the room…well, at least, when it came to tests and such. I remember, when I was in college, overhearing some people say, “Well, there goes the curve” when I walked into the classroom. So, been there, done that, got the diploma. But, am I funny? I don’t see myself as particularly funny. I guess that would mean I’d be in a room of particularly unfunny people. That’s kinda sad and gloomy, but if I’m really funny, I could change that!
  • Conversation with future self or past self? Now that I think of it, I am pretty sure I’ve used this before. Oh, well, I wonder if my answer is the same. I would definitely go for my past self. I would tell younger Marsha to take care of her body and health, take the trips, spend the money, enjoy life to the fullest, and maybe try sticking out the teaching a couple more years. But, knowing how contrary younger Marsha was, I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t have listened to any of it!

Wrap it up, Marsha!

This is the first 10 on the 10th in a very long time that I was easily able to answer! I really like Would You Rathers, but I wonder if this month’s were just a little too tame? So, can we talk? What do you think, were the questions too tame? How do you feel about Would You Rathers? What question would you have included? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.

  1. Good list. I would also take the flying carpet and teleportation option. To avoid hours of travel or hours stuck in airports!

  2. Haha, what a choices! I have to say that I pick up vibes very easily from people, so reading someone’s mind wouldn’t be my choice. It’s no fun. But a magic carpet! Yes, immediately!

    • Thanks, Nancy! I don’t want to be able to know what someone really thinks of me! I’m just that vain, I guess! A magic carpet would be so much fun…but could you pick one out easily? What color would it be?

  3. Well, that’s interesting … we don’t seem to have the same opinions about some things here. As I don’t post twice a day, mine will go live tomorrow.

    • Thanks, Cat! I did read your post (I’m late responding). I wasn’t talking about chocolate covered broccoli but broccoli that tasted like chocolate. I loved your responses and actually laughed out loud at some of them!

  4. I had fun with this month’s questions… but I think nearly every one of my answers is different from yours. I was going to say I’ve been the smartest person in the room many times too but thought that might sound a bit conceited! LOL.

    • Thanks, Joanne! I would have thought it was conceited, too, once upon a time. These days, I claim my intelligence and all the other good things as well as owning up to the not so good things!

  5. These are such interesting prompts. I don’t know that I’d want a crystal ball either. It’s funny because when I was younger I would have thought that would be wonderful but now? Not so much. I don’t want to know who I’ll lose or anything bad that might happen.
A pet dragon would be interesting but I think a unicorn would be fun too!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • Thanks, Kellyann! I agree with you about the crystal ball. I really don’t want to know my future or that of my loved ones. I just want to live in the moment. I had to think for a bit about the unicorn and dragon…I would be happy with either, or both!

  6. What a wonderful imagination you have! Fun post today, Marsha!

  7. These prompts are so interesting! I’m all for a magic carpet, teleporting and chocolate flavored broccoli! I’d pick the unicorn over the dragon!

What whimsical questions and im the same that as a young girl I wouldn’t have listened
    Xoxo

    • Thanks, Jodie! I know…I was very obstinate! But, maybe I could have convinced me not to always wear cheap shoes on concrete all those years!

  9. I loved all of your answers, Marsha. It was fun to hear your thinking. I have to agree with the talking refrigerator over the toilet, and definitely sneezing glitter over crying jam!

  10. This was a fun post! I would love a pet dragon it would be so cool especially with gas prices I can just ride the dragon everywhere.

    • Thanks, Kita! You are so right about the gas prices. Luckily, I have a little car that doesn’t drink huge amounts, but it’s still lots of money!

  12. Well, that was a fun read Marsha and those questions must have really sparked your imagination.

  13. Interesting questions. Of some I really don´t know my answer. But with one I am quite sure. None of the both possibilities with brokkoli.
Have a fine day and all the best

  14. These prompts are so fun to read, and I love how you wove in little stories with each answer. Now I’m picturing you zipping off to Paris on your magic carpet with a loyal pet dragon circling overhead keeping watch.

    • Thanks so much, Candice! I would love to be zipping off to Paris on my magic carpet (or even just teleporting…probably easier with luggage) and my pet dragon overhead!

  15. These were fun. Some harder than others for sure.

    • Thanks, Kristin! I’m so glad you joined in again. I actually had an easier time than usual with this one…except for the talking toilet!

  16. Hilarious! I love would you rather questions and use them often with my students!

  17. Hi, Marsha – I love the whimsy of these questions. As I read your answers, I was thinking of what mine would be…same as everyone else as well, I’m sure. I already have a crystal ball! It’s amethyst and beautiful, but I haven’t the foggiest notion of how to read it. I would choose a unicorn; I have a unicorn medallion and a love of their magical world. I have the same fear of perms, ever since my sister gave me one for my wedding day and my fine hair went insanely curly. She was shocked; to this day, she can’t understand how I deal with my hair. Lol! Who thought of these questions? Thanks for the fun – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    • Thanks, Angie! I love Would You Rathers. We played this game a lot in my classroom though the choices were typically much more gross as fourth graders like that kinda stuff! Oh, an amethyst crystal ball would be gorgeous. It was a tough choice, honestly, between a unicorn and a dragon. Oh, my gosh, my older sister (who is not a hair stylist) gave me a perm and burnt my hair so badly. Even when my younger sister became a hair stylist, I would have the roller lines in my hair for weeks after. I think I would only like the perm for about two weeks out of the whole time. Wow! You got a perm on your wedding day…you are brave. I have super fine thin hair, too. I google the questions and then make them a little different, or sometimes, I just come up with my own.

  18. I am with you on almost all your answers! This is so fun to read my friend. I would never want to know what others are thinking!
