Fashion Files!

Welcome back for this week’s edition of the Fashion Files, hosted by Amy and me! If you don’t know Amy, her blog is Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. When Kellyann and Jill stopped Fashion Files, I hated to see another fashion link up disappear. I’m really glad Amy agreed to co-host! If you’re a fashion blogger, please spread the word because we’d like this little link party to grow and grow!

Last week’s looks…

Tuesday – Theoretically, this outfit worked in my head. The tee is an odd color from Old Navy. It’s always on the verge of being donated, but then I remember how well it works with so many different things. It’s an odd grey-ish plum color. The print on the Haldi cardigan from Gudrun Sjödén has that same color in it. The jeans are dark grey Old Navy barrel jeans. I don’t think I’ll repeat it because it’s really drab. I like all the pieces separately but not together. Nigel had his hip aspirated this day. We arrived late for his appointment even though we had been told by the surgeon’s office of the time of the procedure. The only way I knew we were late was when I looked up at the whiteboard they have in the rooms. The time for the procedure was already upon us. The nurse was so good about not making us feel like total dolts. As it happened, the surgeon was running late…very late! He did come in to see Nigel. His shirt was soaked, and his hair was plastered to his head. He had been busy. It was also Cinco de Mayo, and we joked with him that he was actually just sitting back there, eating chips and salsa and drinking beers! We got home really late that night, driving through the pouring rain.

Wednesday – The museum is changing out the exhibit in the main hall. It will be replaced by an installation by another artist who deals with organic materials. Our horticulture department kept thousands of flowers and dried them. On Wednesday, we strung those little flowers. They were similar to clover flower heads. We had to wrap thin copper wire around them. Sometimes, you would be tightening that wire up and…poof! The heads would just disintegrate. They swept up all of that. I think those were each a seed. So, I wore a Newfields Art in Bloom tee shirt with this Täppa cardigan from Gudrun Sjödén and a pair of Old Navy jeans. And, I’m wearing my helper hair. You can tell from the smile on my face how much I love it!

Thursday – Today, I had planned to just stay home and do nothing. But, then it occurred to me to check my text messages. Somehow or other, I had a haircut down for next week. But, my stylist has a texting service which sent me a text reminding me of my appointment for this week! I wore this Talbots cardigan and a pair of Loft’s “new” Rivete jeans. I asked the sales associate about them. She said they weren’t all that different from their other jeans.

Friday – Today, I hit up the clearance plants at Lowes again. I also bought some non-clearance plants and got some of them in the ground. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before…our “soil” is clay. I could make bricks from it, I’m pretty sure. After I got home and showered, I put on this old Banana Republic shirt. Do y’all remember when BR named their shirts? They had three different kinds, and this was one that worked for me. This shirt is probably seven or eight years old. I have a skirt that matches it, too. These are the Loft jeans from Thursday.

Saturday – I decided, since the weather was so nice to do a huge blog shoot, especially while my hair is still vibrant. When I was finished, I just kept the last look on. I drove over to the county seat and paid our property taxes…ouch! It’s weird to go solo to these kinds of things. I’m used to Nigel being there, either driving or front seat driving! This is the Valley of Flowers Sleeveless dress from April Cornell (and it’s on sale).

I had brushed my hair out by the time I remembered to take a photo!

Sunday – Mother’s Day! Actually, this is one holiday Nigel rarely observes as he says I’m not his mother! It used to really hurt my feelings, but I’ve just grown to accept it. My youngest, his partner, and her two little ones came to see us. Jordan took Nigel out to the garage to sit for a bit. I’m so glad he was able to get outside even if it was just a titch chilly. I’m wearing the Gudrun Sjödén Paris dress and a pink (some version) slip. The second photo is the sweater I’ve been crocheting. I just need to add the sleeves and buttons, and it will be done!

Monday – Today was a fun visit to the museum. The Associate Curator of Contemporary Art led us through a walk through of a new exhibit of….wait for it…fashion! There are so many wonderful pieces in there, including vintage Dior, Halston, and Alexander McQueen. He gave us the background on many of the items. I believe the museum owns most, if not all, of them. Some of them are very recent acquisitions. This is another outfit that just seems off to me. All the colors work, but something is just slightly off kilter. I’m wearing these really fun pants from Gudrun Sjödén, but I can’t find them online. They’ve got a wide smocked waistband. I added a sleeveless tank from Old Navy and this floral cardigan from Talbots. I wanted some shape so I threw on a narrow belt and belted it at the narrowest point of my body to give it a shape. Still don’t know what’s wrong with it, though.

What to link up…

Please link up your favorite fashion posts, old and new. Please take the time to visit some of the other bloggers. I’m sure they would appreciate it, and please let them know you are visiting from our link up! A huge thanks to Jill and Kellyann for agreeing to let us host this new “old” link party. And, an even bigger thanks to Amy for being my co-host! In case you’re not sure about what to post, I’ve actually stolen some of Amy’s Monday post (thanks, Amy): “You can show one outfit you’ve worn or multiple outfits you’ve worn. You can talk about clothing, shoes, accessories, undergarments, swimwear, brands you stand by, thrifting, online shopping, in person shopping – whatever you want to talk about that involves fashion. I have had a few comment that they aren’t fashionable and I say to that “pish posh”. Just show us what you’ve worn!” I love that…you don’t have to be dressed to the nines (look at what I’ve worn) to link up!

  1. Such a nice variety! I love the flow of the blue dress (that’s probably my hippy side (although I was obviously too young to be one myself)).
