Nigel had an appointment with the surgeon last week. He was really impressed with the progress Nigel has made in walking. He did kinda mention the left hip will be replaced (again), but we wouldn’t be discussing that for a long, long time. All in all, it was a good appointment. He mentioned the physical therapist noted Nigel is weak. I bought him ankle weights to strengthen those quadriceps. So far, he’s been using them on a regular basis. I think he just needed that little push from the surgeon. But, it’s time for 10 on the 10th! Thank goodness it’s a Would You Rather 10 on the 10th! Those are easier to do, don’t you think?

Would you rather vacation in Alaska or Bali? That’s an easy one! As much as I love snow and winter, I’d definitely go to Bali for a vacation. When it comes to holidays, I’m all about the beach! Preferably, I’d be in one of those little huts that are out over the water. I am not going to research to see about insects or snakes so don’t ruin it for me!
Would you rather learn to play a musical instrument or learn to paint? This is a hard one for me. I would love to do both. And, you know what, this is my blog and my 10 on the 10th, so I’m going to go with that! Music and art are such a large part of my life. I cannot sing a capella, but I love music of just about any kind. My son once tried to teach me how to play the guitar, but I couldn’t get my fingers to move that way. I do play in a handbell choir, but I only have to worry about 2-4 notes, depending on the piece. That means I only play 2-4 bells, too. And, art! Oh, my goodness, I don’t even know what kind of painting I’d love to learn to do. I think I’d probably start with watercolor because I just love that hazy, romantic effect.
Would you rather wear flip flops or sneakers? Funny and true story! When I was teaching, we would have town meetings which is just an HET way of saying the class was gathered around me. Anyway, I happened to mention I wore thongs. You should have seen their shocked faces…some looked physically sick! Then, I realized what they thought of when they heard the word, thong! I had to reassure them what I was actually talking about were flip flops! But, back to the question…this is a hard one because I love to wear both now that I’ve found sneakers that fit me well and are comfortable and aren’t huge and clunky! As much as I want to say flip flops, I’m going to go with sneakers. Because my three middle toes on my left foot don’t grip very well, Sneakers are just easier to wear, and I love my Sambas!
Would you rather ride the highest roller coaster or bump along on the Lazy River ride? I don’t like roller coasters at all. I have never liked them…not even when I was a preteen. I absolutely hate that feeling in your stomach when you’re going down the slope. Even more than that, I hate the anticipation of that feeling. So, the Lazy River it is for me. I actually do like it because it’s so relaxing.
Would you rather go on a road trip or take a flight to a faraway destination? This one is easy. I would take a flight to a faraway destination tomorrow! My passport is ready to go, and I could easily pack a suitcase! The hard part would be deciding the faraway destination. Over the years, I never really thought I’d like to go to Australia or New Zealand. That’s because of the amount of time, but if you broke it up into smaller increments, I’m ready. Bucket list places: Vancouver, Paris, Germany, Florence, Greece, Hong Kong…the list could go on and on.
Would you rather have a summer birthday or a winter birthday? I have a fall birthday and wouldn’t trade it for anything. If I had to choose from these two, I’d go with a winter birthday. Why? Have you met me? I love all things winter…even shoveling snow! So, let’s celebrate my birthday in the winter. Ya know? I kinda like the idea of having two birthdays…one the real date, and one a date in winter I choose? What do you think?
Would you rather go to a flea market or a craft fair? I have never been to a flea market. My only experience with them is watching the show, “Flea Market Flip.” But, I have been to lots of craft fairs, and I love seeing the creativity. So, my choice is definitely a craft fair. I’d just have to be careful not to buy stuff because I already have too much!
Would you rather go tubing down the river or ziplining through the trees? My first thought is tubing down a river, but I’m curious about ziplining through the trees. Nigel went ziplining when we went to the Toledo Zoo in 2019 (I think). I was so surprised when he said he was going to do it. He loved it! So, I think, as long as I wasn’t too high, I would go for ziplining because I’ve gone tubing down a river. On the other hand, tubing takes a bit of time. Ziplining seems to happen quite quickly, and I like an experience to last for a bit.
Would you rather go on a safari or on a whale watching tour? OK, I’m totally pulling the “this is my list” card again! I want to do both. I’m not a fan of insects, though, so I’m not sure about the safari. I have always been fascinated by whales and would love to see one in the wild. Yet, I also grew up when “Jaws” came out, so I’d be thinking about one of those giant mammals bumping our boat! But, can you imagine seeing one of them breach? I think it would be one of those unforgettable moments. On the other hand, seeing lions and tigers and bears…OK, not bears…out in the wild? That would be amazing, too!
Would you rather be able to control the weather or talk to the animals? This one is easy. I would definitely want to be able to control the weather. I’m greatly concerned about global warming so I would cool everything down and allow the polar ice caps to regrow. Hopefully, the wildfires we are seeing more and more would be less and less.
Wrap it up, Marsha!
I do love Would You Rathers! They can be funny, gross, or serious. My students loved when we’d do them even if they got the same one over and over. And, the ones I had were disgusting…things like dirty feet, boogers, and such! So, can we talk? Which question did you find hardest to answer? Which of my answers surprised you most? What is your favorite 10 on the 10th? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as soon as possible.
Thank you!

Ah, this time we are drifting more apart than usual in our answers.
When I read you have never been to a flea market, I almost fainted. Garage sales at least (which is something we don’t really have here, sob)? I miss them so much. I loved most of them even if I didn’t find anything at all. It’s such a special mood.
That is great news about Nigel! I answered today’s questions too… but they won’t be up on the blog until Wednesday. We have many of the same answers.
Glad to hear of Nigel’s progress.
Fun answers too.
I haven’t done a post but here are my answers:
1. Alaska for its wilderness (Blame the Ice Road Truckers series for this)
2. Music. As a child I wanted to learn the piano as a friend had one in their house.
3. Sneakers or as we call them, trainers, for comfort and versatility.
4. Lazy river – what a great way to relax!
5. Road Trip! There is so much to see on one.
6. Summer birthday (I have one of those already!)
7. Flea market or car boot sale – for the bargains!
8. Zip Lining. Neither has huge appeal, but I’m not really an in the water kind of girl. However see the answer to No. 9!
9. Whale watching. Did this off of Vancouver island and while on a beach there. So majestic to watch and marvel at.
10. Talk to animals! Oh the conversations I have already and could have more of with the this ability!
