Queen of…
If I am a queen of anything, it is the Queen of Procrastinators. I tell myself I work better under pressure, but, really, I just think I’m lazy. I will put off almost anything until the last minute if I possibly can. Here’s just one example. The Banana Republic rewards program used to issue “certificates” each month with your bill. They had expiration dates. I would, honestly, wait until 11:45 pm the day my certificate would expire before spending it. Don’t ask me what I was waiting for because I have no idea! Right now, I’m sitting on quite a bit of money from the Gap brands because I use my card for all major purchases. And, I still don’t use the points!
Even more…
This is honestly going to be a short post because my procrastination is beginning to catch up with me. I’ve said before I have a pretty deep faith, but I am, by no means, a church lady. Certain words are a part of my everyday language. But, it is really difficult to develop friendships in new places when you’re of a certain age. So, most of the women I know are from my church. And, I am also one of those people who has a really, really hard time saying, “No!” With that in mind, here are three things I have to accomplish with very hard deadlines: I have to write and teach a lesson for differently abled adults this Thursday; I have to write an inspirational column for the church newsletter; and, I have to write the presentation and study booklet for a mini-retreat on April 1st. None of these things should stress me out. My goodness, I went to college, got a Master’s degree, and wrote lesson plans for several subjects on a regular basis…all while having three kids at home!
Just a little more…
I’m not sure why I’m stressing so much about any of this. I will get it done. I just need to sit down and do it. Instead, I decide to paint my kitchen, dining area, and living room (Nigel helped). And, I’m continuing my knitting and crocheting projects. Actually, as I type this, I’m thinking, “Marsha, if you’d just put one of these aside, you could get that retreat done in no time.” But, instead, I’m thinking about some other project I could start or finish. Well, you get the gist!
The outfit…
I finally found a pair of jeans I really like. These are the High Waisted Wow Wide leg jeans in a short length! They are as close to perfect as any I’ve tried lately. If anything, they could be a wee bit longer. I might unpick the hem to make them just that little bit longer. I added a sleeveless tank from Talbots. My completer piece is this gorgeous Unity Tie Front Button Down from Kantha Bae. I picked it up during a recent sale. I can’t link to the exact product because each piece is unique. Made from recycled saris, these button downs sometimes have repairs, stains, and other flaws. As I type this, though, I have to say this isn’t a button down. It’s a button up! Kellyann wrote a post about button ups and explained the difference between a button up and a button down. Basically, a button down has a button downed collar while a button up is all the rest of the shirts that button down the front!
The Lewk!
Aren’t these the cutest sneakers? I wish they were as comfortable as they are cute! There’s a seam that hits one of the pressure points on my foot. But, I wear them anyway! These gold earrings were a Christmas gift from Nigel years ago. My coiled bracelet is from a new to me online store…Zia Stella. I love coiled bracelets almost as much as I love cuffs! This one right here? It is gorgeous!! You’ve got metals, wooden beads as well as sari-wrapped beads. If you struggle with creating an arm party, here’s the answer! Straight from the Zia Stella website: “Worldfinds was founded to create social impact in artisan communities, while being kind to the earth. Their mission is to uplift artisans by creating dignified work, meaningful opportunities and long term partnerships. Their sustainable designs use elements like repurposed kantha and sari textiles and scraps of wood, all reimagined with a modern aesthetic. These items are not only beautiful and unique, but they empower women in the developing world through fair trade. World Finds is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America.” I can promise you this won’t be my last purchase from Zia Stella. They also carry clothing, bags, and other goodies. And, this woman-run business is located in Indiana! How cool is that?
Wrap it up, Marsha!
Well, there you have it! I really didn’t have much of anything to say except to confess to laziness and procrastination! Hopefully, I will have completed at least two of the three writing projects by the end of the week! So, can we talk? Are you a procrastinator, or do you get the things done as soon as you possibly can? Do you ever agree to do something because you can’t say no? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk! I promise to respond as soon as possible!

When you say, I’m keeping it dirty, I’m like, yeah sure. Lol. I am totally the opposite of you. If I have a core, I want to do it immediately. Are you then also a person who is always late for a appointment? Because I’m always easy to early! Love your look, the colour suits you well.
Hahaha!!! You know me a bit too well, Nancy! No, if I have an appointment, I’m on time…a little bit early but not too much. I hate having to sit and wait!
Thanks for coming by!
You might be a bit of a procrastinator, but you’re absolutely, positively NOT lazy!!!
I am all on board with your brand of procrastinating. I frequently find certain tasks overwhelming, and one of two things happen: i either do everything BUT the task, or I don’t let myself do the things i want to do until I’ve done the thing I’m supposed to do. Unfortunately, that last option means nothing gets done at all, ha ha.
Your way is MUCH better!!!
Yay for finding perfect jeans!!!
Hahaha!!! I love your two options! I would probably go for the second one, too, and nothing would get done! I need to forget I ever saw that. But, you accomplish some pretty amazing things, Em!
Thanks so much for coming by!
Gahhh, I love your new Kantha Bae top! Such a cute outfit. I got two Kantha Bae pieces on my vacation that I cannot wait to share with you all! But, I, too, am a big lazy procrastinator so who knows when I will get around to it!
Shelbee
Oh, Shelbee, I can’t wait to see them! You’ll get them on the blog with some other fabulous things!!
Thanks, Shelbee, for coming by!
OH just reading that to do list stresses me out! I rarely procrastinate about anything.. but I have noticed in the past few years that when I do procrastinate it’s usually because that’s something I really don’t want to do. Your outfit looks nice and casual and comfy. Those are wonderful jeans.
Hahaha!! I can see that about you, Joanne! Now that I think of it, I do put off the things I don’t want to do!
Thanks so much, Joanne!
Marsha you and I are so much alike in how we approach the “to do” list! I seem to wait until the mood strikes me, which is often right before a deadline. It seems I do work better that way and I tell myself I am kicking around ideas until then – ha!!
Thanks for the sweet shout out – love this denim on you and that these colors are so flattering!!!
xo,
Kellyann
Oh, I like the way you think, Kellyann! I’m going to keep that in mind…kicking around ideas. Actually, I do tend to “write” out things in my head days ahead of time and then can put it down on paper pretty quickly.
Thank you so much, Kellyann!
What a pretty kimono! I have a pair of comfortable olive blowfish sneakers that make me think of yours but mine are comfortable! I am like you but with housework: cleaning bathrooms, dusting… I will do all the other projects first!
http://www.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Thanks, Mireille! Mine would probably be comfortable; I just have a wonky foot! Oh, housework…it’s such a never ending thing, right?
Your button-up is such a pretty color, and the jeans look very comfy. I’m a world-class procrastinator and the things I put off are most often tasks that I’m not happy about doing and that I think will take a long time. When I get started on a project I want to see it all the way through, so it always takes longer than I think, and if I don’t believe I have enough time to finish or I’ll have to stop in the middle to wait for someone else or gather information or supplies, my procrastinator brain talks me into putting it off. Seldom good!
Thanks, Kym! It’s always good to meet another procrastinator! I have so many projects in progress, but I work at them all the time. There’s just so many of them!
Thanks so much for coming by!
I enjoyed reading and I couldnt stop laughing about you being the queen of procastination. I must say that, we all have does moments and I have been having it lately.
You look amazing.
Thanks, Melody! I have always been that way so I doubt it will change anytime soon!
My husband is the procrastinator of the family, not me. I would rather just get it done so I can go play.
BTW, I love the way BR is doing their rewards now. You should get the t-shirt I showed in my email today because it’s such a steal and they have wonderful colors.
XOXO

Somehow, that does not surprise me, Jodie! Mike is definitely the one who wants to get things done except when it comes to home improvements! I’m the one doing all the pushing, and he’s the one who wants to take his time and plan things out. I secretly think he’s hoping I’ll change my mind!
Ha! Well, I get it. I often procrastinate on outfit photos. But after cutting it super close last month, I’ve decided to get photos taken ASAP. Like I photographed my Songful Style outfit today. I hope I can keep it up. In any case, you look beautiful in magenta. Super pretty button up! (See, I learned something. :D) I love it!
Michelle

Wow!! I’m impressed. I love the song but have no idea what I’m going to do so I’d better get busy!
Thanks, Michelle! I didn’t even realize it was magenta until you said it! How about that…I’m on trend!!
I am generally not a procrastinator…unless it’s something I really don’t want to do! And unfortunately, there always seem to be things I really don’t want to do. Not too many, but always a few. I love how this outfit came together, and the print mix between the striped top and the sleeves of the kimono is subtle but lovely. The sneakers are really neat!
OK, so if I read between the lines it would appear you are a procrastinator! Welcome to the club, my friend! Thanks for the compliments! I was pleasantly surprised to see how the stripes picked out colors from the top so well. And, I just wish these sneakers were comfortable! Maybe some moleskin will help!
I know that you’ve said this time and time again, but you and I are definitely cut from the same cloth. I’m also the Queen of Procrastination in my realm and have been for a very long time. Thank heavens there’s a biological end to gestation or my kids may have never been born. ?
Rena
http://www.finewhateverblog.com
Hahaha!!! I never thought about that! I was never one for keeping track of menstrual cycles so maybe I was truly late delivering those monster kiddos I had! I have always waited until the last minute to do things! The only exception to that was lesson planning. I think that’s because I loved to fill out my planner with all these neat ideas (now, there I did procrastinate and wait until the last minute to get things I needed)!
Thanks, Rena, for the chuckle and the validation!
