Just the Facts, Ma’am!

OK, I told you last week or maybe the week before, it was going to be a short post. Well, this one really is going to be a short post. It’s all about the outfit! I wore this to the museum a few weeks ago and did a quick photo shoot before I left. I bought this Gudrun Sjödén dress on a whim and almost sent it back. But, I really liked the strange hemline. I don’t have a lot of grey dresses so I decided to keep it. But, it really needed some zhuzh, right?

Just a little…

So, WordPress is constantly changing things. I can’t get into my actual dashboard without a little finagling. I’m not sure whose fault that is, probably mine. My son taught me the finagling way. For some reason, I also saved that page on my desktop so I can get to it there, too. But, I figure one of these days that’s going to quit working. Recently, they’ve decided to jump on the ol’ AI bandwagon. So, when I upload a photo, it gives me a little AI interpretation of it. So, here’s what it says about the above photo:

Harrumph!!! Older woman? Gray polka-dot coat? Black boots? Well, they got the red scarf and skirt right as well as the front door and Welcome sign. I guess that just goes to show you AI is not foolproof!

Today…

I cleaned house today. I was just so tired of the house looking like we had just moved in with furniture pushed here and there. Nigel needs those clear spaces to get around in the wheelchair. The boys…OK, they’re men in their 40s, but they’re still my boys…had moved a sofa table and a small bookcase into Jack’s room so that the front hall was completely clear. That was way back in March when Nigel first came home. The room looked like a disaster area with stuff piled willy nilly. I haven’t been able to use the sofa table behind the sofa because we didn’t put an electrical outlet in the floor where it would go. Well, I solved that problem. I put it behind the sofa, but it fits between the sofa and the wall. You can’t see the table, but you can see the doodads on top. I also put the bookcase back in the hall. It’s right behind the front door (well, when it’s open) and will be easily moved to Jack’s room when we need to get Nigel out.

Fresh candles…

After I had cleaned most of the house, I put out spring candles. Would you believe I still had the Christmas flavored ones out? I haven’t burned near as many candles in this house as our last one. I’m not exactly sure why. But, I have three or four burning at one time. I didn’t have time to do the other two bedrooms because Nigel needed a shower. His O/T was coming later today. I don’t give him a shower, but I do “spot” him and help him in and out of the shower. That takes some time, and I still needed to shower. The dust will wait until tomorrow.

A facial…

Yesterday, I had a facial for the first time since February. My aesthetician is amazing, but she runs the oils through my hair, too. I am not an evening shower person. I will take one if I’m all sweaty from working outside, but, for the most part, I take my shower in the morning. Anyway, it was midafternoon before I took my shower. My facial, though, was so good. She is so good at massage. I really wish they did full body massages there. I would be the first one in line!

The outfit…

Bet you thought I was never going to get to that, right? As I said, I’m wearing this grey with either black or darker grey polka dots dress from Gudrun Sjödén. It is rather boring except for that hemline, right? So, to spice things up, I added a red scarf with some blue stripes and a red (I don’t know the color Gudrun Sjödén uses for this one) slip. Every time I look at my slip collection, I swear I’m not buying another. Then, they come out with a set of completely new colors!

The Lewk!

As much as I love my sandals, I kinda hate to say goodbye to my boots. These are my Calla Cap Toe boots from Miz Mooz. I love the burnished grey color and the comfort. This is another pair of Assuta earrings from Sylca Designs. It’s hard to wear a necklace as well as a scarf when I’m wearing my docent badge.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

I told you it was going to be a short one. I needed to say a little something to get the photos in, though! So, can we talk? Are you a fan of grey? What did you think of the AI description of my first photo? How do you feel about AI? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as quickly as I can.

Those are some tired looking eyes, right?

  1. Changing things around can be so pleasing and the facial sounds lovely.

    • Thanks, Rosie! I have always been one of those people who moves the furniture around on a regular basis. This house, though, is so small, the only room I can actually change around is the living space. The facial was divine!

  2. Hello Marsha, must say I’m not a fan of AI but know it’s here to stay and can have its benefits.
I must say grey isn’t one of my favourite colours, I think it’s reminds me of my school uniform – grey and more grey.
I’m sure when we lined up in the playground the teachers must have been looking at a sea of grey.
A good facial is a real treat Marsha. 😊

    • Thanks, Linda! I agree that AI is here to stay. I think the task will be to make sure it doesn’t eliminate too many jobs and creative aspects of the world. Oh, I can see how you would dislike grey then! We didn’t wear uniforms, but there were times I wish my students did as there were some kids who were always wearing the latest and greatest clothes and shoes. You are entirely correct about facials being a treat! I love them.

  3. Don’t get me started on my opinion about AI. If they stuck to the really useful things, fine, and it definitely has its uses – for example I read they plan to use AI to make sure that vaccines for Tasmanian Devils they put out in the wild only go to devils thanks to a recognition software – but AI being a part of every little thing in daily life now drives me nuts. I don’t want AI images and AI written posts and I don’t want every web page to push their chatbot on me. I better stop now 😉

I like the dress and grey/red is a great combo. You already know how much I like your slips!

    • Thanks for the compliments on the outfit. I completely agree about how AI is infiltrating everything we do! A simple google search requires you to wade through the AI slop first. I have to tell Mike when he’s watching TV that it’s AI. He seems amazed by that. Silly man…

  4. I like your outfit! The pops of red really make it and pull it all together.

  5. AI – ugh, I love it and hate it at the same time. It’s definitely not foolproof but what is?
I haven’t had a facial in ages, I am so lazy when it comes to scheduling those things but I always love the result. You have given me the nudge to schedule one.
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • Thanks, Kellyann! I am in a facial membership so I go every month. Luckily, the membership fee goes into a “bank” when I can’t get one. It really is my little indulgence. My daughter uses AI to see how rooms in her new house will look with certain colors and other things. I never seem to have much luck with it.

  6. jodie filogomo

AI is definitely not always correct, but let’s just say you rocked this dress. The addition of the red pop just makes it amazing.
    XOXO
    Jodie

    • Thanks, Jodie! I hadn’t noticed that before so who knows how long it’s been there. I just had to laugh and include it. I did try other colors with the dress, but it definitely needed the red!

  7. The red spark is the cherry on top!

    AI is a lackluster imitator.

It feels divine to get things accomplished! Your energy inspired me! Thanks! Heading to my closet now—it’s mayhem!

    • Aww, thanks, my friend! I am glad I inspired you. You have some of the best tees, though! I do miss seeing you, but I’m enjoying the break!

  8. WordPress is constantly getting me! Thank goodness I host on Bluehost because I feel like I’m always chatting with their help. If it weren’t for them my blog would constantly be down. I wish I knew more about blogging and website management.

    • I also host on Bluehost, and they usually can take care of my problems. But, there’s just something weird about this that I don’t know if I could describe. I probably should chat with them because it would be awful if both of my workarounds should fail! I do and I don’t want to know more about website management. I’m busy enough with the little I do know!

  9. Marsha, I once asked the AI for a picture of a doctor talking to a patient. It created a middle aged male doctor and an elderly frail looking woman. Interesting it assumed a patient must be a woman and old. AI needs lessons in gender neutrality. Next time I will be more specific as to age and gender of the people I want.

    • Well, that is very interesting though not surprising! It sounds exactly like what we should expect right. I have learned you have to be very specific with it. My daughter and granddaughter love it. I’m not a big fan but can see some value.

  10. Oh a facial sounds like heaven. Haven’t had one in a year or so. I used to go every 2 months to the beautician, but I can’t do without my oxygen for an hour. So had to stop that! Older woman! What does AI know!

    • Thanks, Nancy! I’m assuming you mean I’m not an older woman…hahaha!! Could you do a shorter facial? I remember how my mom absolutely hated going anywhere with her oxygen tank…this was several years ago with the big metal tanks you had to tote around. She was so embarrassed by it. I always look at medical equipment as a help to me so why be embarrassed?

  11. Oh Marsha, you and I have so much in common. I hate AI, by the way, and could rant forever about my reasons why! I also am a morning shower person and only shower at night if I get really dirty during the day. I giggled that you call candle scents “flavors” because I do that, too! My husband corrects me and asks if I am eating the candles! LOL I love this bold outfit. The polka dot dress is adorable and I love the creative way you have styled it. It looks like it buttons all the way down so you could wear it open as a topper as well. I love the deep reds paired with it. Well done, my friend!

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee! I don’t like it, either, but I don’t know that we will be able to change anything. I just hope we, as a society and a world, don’t live to regret it and find all those dystopian novels coming true! I always call them flavors because I can never remember scents. Flavors just makes more sense to me, I guess! The funny thing is I don’t like candles that smell like food (except for the really good apple ones). I’m so glad you like the dress. I will definitely wear it as a topper over jeans. It’s a really versatile dress!

  12. I want that facial! Love this chic look! I’m afraid to see what AI will say about my looks. Lol!

    https://www.kathrineeldridge.com

    • Thanks, Kathrine! It is an indulgence, for sure. But, Mike encourages me to do it. I just don’t go anywhere after…hahaha!!

  13. I do not even want to read an AI description of myself! I did use ChatGPT yesterday and it’s pretty amazing yet scary.
I love showering at night but wet hair is not good to sleep on. Still working on that…
I actually shower both in the am and at night – just a quick body if I have washed my hair the night before.
I’m sure it’s hard to have the furniture displaced. You seem to have a really good attitude about it and your caregiving status. I really hope for some good news and progress for Nigel soon.

    • Thanks, Amy! We are down to the last few days before he gets fluid withdrawn to test for that nasty bacteria which has the funniest name…cutiebacterium acnus! I am crossing my fingers, saying my prayers, and even wishing on stars that he gets the hip and not another implant as well as that this hip actually works. He hasn’t really walked for almost two (or is it three) years now. I do feel so much better with the furniture rearranged. It looks lived in rather than just a bunch of furniture in a room.

I just happened to notice that AI descriptor on WordPress as I was writing the post! I had to laugh…at least it didn’t say old lady on a bad hair day! If I shower at night, the hair is going every which way and has absolutely no body.

  14. The dark red color adds so much depth and interest to the dress – love it!

    • Thanks, Sally! I thought so, too. I tried several other color combinations, but that was the one I kept coming back to!

  15. Hi, Marsha – Haha, AI can be so stupid sometimes! It makes research easier, though. I love your lace-hem slips but I am at a loss for what to wear them with(?) Thank you for a very amusing read – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    • Thanks, Angie! I really haven’t used it that much, and I almost always skip past the AI part of google searches. I’m glad you like the slips. I say, add one and see what happens. You can always take it off! Another thing you could try without spending any money, first, is to add a skirt of some kind under another skirt or a dress. It should give you an idea of what it would look like.

  16. Medical equipment takes up so much room! Even Wyatt’s tiny wheelchair. My poor doors. Wyatt is not the most careful….

I am glad that you enjoyed your facial! That sounds amazing.

    • Thanks, Erin! That facial was so necessary! Would you believe we have three walkers? We borrowed one from a neighbor in the beginning. Then, we bought a new heavy duty one. It broke, so our son took it up with the manufacturer who sent another. He repaired the other one. So, we have one in the living room, restroom, and bedroom! Yes, our doors and walls are showing signs of someone who is a bit older than Wyatt!

  17. AI is not foolproof and obviously got this one wrong. Your outfit is fabulous! Love the pops of dark red!

    Jill – Doused in Pink

    • Thanks so much, Jill! I’m hoping all the experts are wrong about how much AI is going to change our world. I like the inaccuracy of real people more than AI!

  18. Love the outfit, Marsha! And I found the AI description interesting, if not entirely accurate. That has been my experience with most things AI. Everything seems just slightly off…and occasionally way off.

    • Thanks, Christie! I really haven’t done much with AI, but I just happened to notice that on the side of my screen as I was working on that post. I had to laugh and then include it!

  19. The red slip really adds interest to the outfit: it really looks like a skirt! I think the AI description is funny! You had me chuckling with this post.
    http://www.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com

    • Thanks, Mireille! I think the red slip is so important here. Otherwise, it’s just a grey polka dotted shirt dress. I have to admit I chuckled, too.

  20. Bet that facial was super. Lovely look, the layers work well together. Thanks for adding to my linkup. Jacqui x

    • Thanks so much, Jacqui! I was so totally relaxed for that facial. I hadn’t had one in so long! I always appreciate your linkups.
