Style Imitating Art!

Style Imitating Art…

It’s time for another round of Style Imitating Art! A few years ago, I joined Shelbee and Salazar as curators for SIA. We begin with a piece of art, create looks based upon that art, and share them on our blogs. Think of it as fashion meets art museum! Anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun. You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, either! Salazar selected our inspiration artwork this week.

How it works…

Here are the details: Every other Monday, one of us will select a piece of art. That is shared via all three co-hosts’ blogs. On the following Monday, all three share their looks on their blogs. If you choose to participate, send a photo to the curator for that particular week. You, as well as the other participants, will be featured on the curator’s post that Wednesday. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! If you decide to play along this time, please send your photo to Salazar by Tuesday, March 24th at 10:00 pm EST to be included. I hope you will join us! I think this could be the best way to start something new! Remember, you don’t have to be a blogger to be a part of this. You can snap a photo and send it in. We love to have readers join in on the fun, too.

Why…

Salazar says, “It’s “Whirlpool Frog”, a piece of textile art by Australian artist Annemieke Mein. (Yes, it’s textile, not a painting! You can see the texture of the frog more clearly in the close-up.) Since we’re still in March, I want to go with another female artist, and you know I love my textile art, plus it’s a very spring-like image, so here we are.”

  1. Of course I hope now that you will be dressing up as a frog. If you want to hold a frog instead, I’m going to send my Steiff frogs travelling 😉

    • Hahaha!!! Oh, Cat, if I had a frog costume, you’d better believe I’d be wearing it! I just might check with my grands to see if they have any! Send those Steiff frogs my way…can’t guarantee they’ll come hopping back to you, though!

  2. How lovely! And beautiful colours, so I know you all will come up with lovely looks!

    • Thanks, Nancy! Well, I’m pretty sure Shelbee will have this one nailed quite easily! And, I’m guessing Salazar has a frog brooch. I’m going to start working on mine tomorrow.

  3. I love it! I can’t believe how good it is made from textiles.

  4. This will be a fun one for sure 😄 can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    • Thanks, Edi! I’m hoping I can do it justice because I just love that little frog! I actually wish I had a frog themed pin or something!

  5. WOW that’s stunning! I love those colours.. What an incredible artist!
    Big hugs

    • Thanks, my friend! It really is a gorgeous piece of art. I’ve got a couple of ideas. Now, I just need to see which one is calling my name loudest!

  6. Wow! Viewing the piece on my phone, I had no idea it was a textile. This will be a fun piece to take on! I’m so glad that textile artists are gaining popularity

    • Thanks, Allison! It is really amazing, isn’t it? Until I joined the group for SIA, I never really thought about textiles like that unless I was looking at a tapestry. I think it will be fun. I need to get busy, though!

  7. The textile artwork you shared is so beautiful—the colors and texture are incredible. I can’t wait to see the outfits everyone comes up with inspired by it!

    • Thanks, Laura! It is gorgeous, isn’t it? I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to wear. The one time I wish I had a frog on a sweater, right? But, there are so many beautiful colors…I’m sure I will come up with something!

  8. What delightful colors to work with. These should be outstanding outfits.
