I’m trying to find the words to express my heartache over the deaths of children in South Minneapolis this past week. I keep thinking about the immense loss that community suffered. The lives that won’t be lived. The futures shattered. I also think about the lifelong damage the other children will suffer. How they will cower at sudden loud noises, how they will close their eyes and “see” things no one should ever have to see, how they will have lost their innocence…that breaks me. Flags at half mast, thoughts and prayers aren’t working.
The roundup…
Labor Day Weekend is coming up and the new normal is warm weather at least until the actual Fall equinox in September. Angie at Your True Self Blog has a style tip for biker shorts that will fit right in with the celebrations this weekend, such as cookouts and the like. You will look casually classy in this outfit formula, so age doesn’t matter.
Do you wear black in Summer? Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style loves black clothing and bought a black dress for a festival ( which she actually didn’t wear at the event!) But she shows how she wears a black dress in the warmer months by adding pink sneakers!
Marsha knows she does way too much with style challenges, but they are just plain fun! Every month, she participates in a style challenge based upon a song. You can see and read more at Marsha in the Middle.
The Dr. Brandt Mommy Wake Up Kit for bright and de-puffed eyes is a mighty duo, and Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog recommends it for anyone who wants to hydrate the skin and reduce dark circles and puffiness.
How do you know if you have perimenopause? Barbie with Barbie’s Beauty Bits shares that when your period pattern shifts (shorter, longer, or skipped) and you notice night sweats, sleep or mood changes, jawline breakouts, new belly weight, or a change in vaginal odor, you’re likely in the perimenopause transition before menopause. In her post, Barbie Ritzman explains what these signs mean, offers quick fixes you can start today, and covers when to see a clinician…no lab slip required.
Looking for a little affordable bling to treat yourself or to gift someone? Allison from Never Say Die Beauty absolutely loves the Miuyuki Tila bracelet that she bought on Etsy!

When I was in it, no one spoke about it. So, I had no idea about what the heck was going on with my body! It’s always good to know you’re not alone.
Hi, Marsha – We need gun control and mental health care. Period. It will come, but the innocent children suffer until then. Sadly – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
I agree that they go hand in hand. I also wonder why people (mainly white males) can get their hands on these high powered guns in the first place. That seems a good place to start (again). I wonder, too, if the people of this country have just become inured to the whole idea of gun violence, in and out of schools.
