This is a professional shot of our living room at our last house. As most of you know, we moved to our new condo a little over three years ago. What I want you to notice in this photo is the beautiful white woodwork. Nigel and I did almost all of it. The original woodwork was MDF which is just a cheap almost cardboard product. Since the ceilings were nine feet tall, we decided to add a little bit of decorative moulding to the top of the cheap stuff. Then, over the course of a couple of years, we clad all the openings…windows, hallways…if it opened, we clad it with Craftsman style poplar. Look at the top left corner. That’s the opening into the front hall as well as the staircase. We had to heft that sucker up there, hold it in place, and nail it in. Nigel came up with this handy little “tool” of a board attached to a vertical board (a T, if you will). With that, I could hold the monstrous new moulding in place while he nailed it into the studs. We had to do three huge openings like that: the hallway, the dining room, and the entry into the morning room. I miss that white moulding because it just added so much character to our home.
The Roundup…
It’s time to get the Fall clothing back into our closets and embrace the beautiful Autumn colours. Nancy at Nancy’s Fashion Style prefers summer much more: the sun, the warmth. Ah well, there is something to say for every season isn’t there? But for now greens, browns, they all come together in her outfit of a classic print dress with a modern twist.
Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog has skincare tips to help you welcome Autumn. They are easy, effective and can be personalized to meet the changing needs of your skin.
Marsha’s favorite season is Fall. One of the best things about Fall is the color changing that goes on with the trees. She also draws inspiration from those colors and recently wrote about Leaf-ing Summer Behind! You can see and read more at Marsha in the Middle.
