The Zuvi Halo Hair Dryer…A Review

This is a sponsored post.

Ignore the washer and dryer…focus on the shininess of my hair!

A little background…

As many of you know, I have struggled with thinning hair for a bit now.  There are some things I do every day that I shouldn’t…like washing my hair.  Actually, I don’t wash my hair every day.  I tend to wash my hair every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Because my hair is so baby fine, I can’t just use a curling iron on it on the off days.  That would be an exercise in futility!  So, on the days I don’t wash it, I do gently scrub my scalp and apply conditioner.  That means, every single day of the week, my hair is wet.

I rarely let my hair air dry.  If I do that, I am left with limp and lifeless hair.  I dry my hair every.single.day.  Some of you may remember I bought an expensive brand of hair dryer/styler in May.  I tried to make that work but, ultimately, returned it.  I continued using my hair dryer which is neither inexpensive nor expensive…just a moderately priced hair dryer which uses hot air to dry my hair.

And, then…

You can imagine my delight when Zuvi reached out to me and asked me to try their dryer.  The dryer comes packed in a very nice box with all attachments safely nestled in it.  Included are the Zuvi Halo hair dryer, a quick start guide and brochure, and three different attachments.

Now, if you’ve been reading the blog for anytime, you know I like things to look nice.  And, this Zuvi Halo dryer is definitely a good looking dryer.  And, even more importantly, the dryer is lightweight.  It weighs just a little over one pound.  My other dryer weighs a little over two pounds.  I like that it has a long handle which just feels perfectly balanced.  I have no problem switching from mode to mode or accessing the cool shot button.

Not just another dryer…

Here’s what makes the Zuvi Halo dryer so revolutionary!  It uses light to dry your hair.  The LightCare™ acts just like the sun and wind do to dry up puddles of rain.  The air flow and the LightCare™ actually evaporate the water droplets on the surface of your hair without overheating your hair and scalp.  The temperature of the Zuvi Halo dryer is 111F/44C while a traditional hair dryer may reach temperatures as high as 140F/60C.  I have had to go so far as to have a fan blowing directly on me while trying to blow my hair dry with a traditional dryer!  It kind of defeats the purpose, right?

You can see the light in this photo…it’s a pleasant aqua color!

About the Zuvi Halo

So, let’s break it down.  The Zuvi Halo dryer comes with three attachments.  The first is the Gentle Air Attachment which can be used on the Fast Mode.  I use this one almost all the time.  The second is the Styling Concentrator.  You use this one on Styling Mode.  The third attachment…hahaha…is a Diffuser! I honestly tried this, but I didn’t feel a thing.  It is supposed to lock in curls and be used with the Fast Mode.  I’d love to have my oldest granddaughter try it some time.  She has extremely long, thick, and curly hair.  I think she is probably a 3C.  But, you don’t have to use any of the attachments at all! At any time, as you’re drying your hair, you just push the Mode button for a cool shot of air.

My routine…

I dry my hair upside down, using the Gentle Air Attachment on Fast Mode.  I also use a paddle brush to keep my hair under control.  When it’s 60-75% dry, I’ll flip my hair back up and switch to the Styling Concentrator and use Styling Mode.  I will continue to use my paddle brush working my hair against the growth pattern and with it so it confuses it a bit.  As my hair dries, I switch to a round brush for my bangs (fringe).  Here’s one of the things I discovered:  My hair actually was dry long before I thought it was.  Your hair doesn’t get hot nor does your scalp.  I had to feel my hair to realize it was dry!  And, even better, no hot flashes so no need for a fan!

I really like that long handle!

The important questions…

  1. Does this dryer dry your hair faster than a “normal” hair dryer?  In my experience, it did not.  But, part of that was I didn’t realize my hair was dry.  So, we’re talking less than one minute difference in drying time.  And, because it’s drying your hair at a much lower temperature, you are also cutting your energy consumption.
  2. Did this dryer add volume?  Well, here’s the rub!  I had just had my hair cut into layers which was brand new to me.  I think I need a different round brush to attain the right volume.  I add the volume with a curling iron and Velcro rollers.  I do that, then apply my makeup.
  3. Does this dryer really make your hair shinier?  Oh, my goodness!  This answer is an unequivocal yes!  Again, part of the reason for that is the LightCare™ technology which doesn’t rob your hair of hydration.  It leaves the cortex of the hair shaft with 109%+ more moisture.  Just to test my hypothesis, I dried my hair a few more times with my old hair dryer.  The difference was dramatic!  My hair was frizzier (though my kind of frizzy is far different from most), and it definitely lacked the shine the Zuvi Halo gave me.  I don’t color my hair so I can’t speak to color retention.
  4. Do I have a discount code? Why, yes, I do! Use Marsha12 for 12% off at this link: https://www.zuvilife.com/products/buy-zuvi-halo-hair-dryer?sca_ref=4039595.v4RNNsWxxF. If items are on sale, you can use Marsha5 for an extra 5% off sale prices. Happy shopping!

Cons…

This is an honest review so I’m also going to share some cons with you.  I think the cord could be a foot or two longer.  I have a large vanity and find myself shuffling around so that I can reach ok.  I also wish there were different speeds.  When I’m using the Styling Concentrator, I would love it if I could back off on the amount of “wind” generated.  Many times, and this is because my hair is so fine, lots of the hair just blows right off of my brush.  Some of this is also learning curve.  There isn’t a huge learning curve, but I’m also dealing with a completely new to me haircut!

I’m gonna need a bigger brush!

Beyond those two cons, I cannot say anything bad about this hair dryer.  I love it.  I love how lightweight it is.  I love that longer handle.  I’m not sure why, but I just love it!  I also love that I don’t have hot flashes and have to start all over because my scalp has just let loose with all kinds of glow…ah, let’s call it what it is…sweat!  All in all, this hair dryer is fabulous!  I think it’s a win-win situation all the way around!

Wrap it up, Marsha!

Even though this is a sponsored post, I want you to know these are my words and opinions. I really love this dryer. I’m amazed at how it dries my hair without overheating me! No more having to wait 10 minutes to cool down in order to finish blowing my hair dry! Listen, I know this is a premium price for a hair dryer. It is on sale right now (and there’s a cool aqua edition), but you can get an additional 5% off with my code. I’m not going to influence you one way or the other, I know. If you’re like me, you spend oodles on the haircut, then even more on products. Maybe, just maybe, you should consider your hair dryer and what it does to your hair. The Zuvi Halo Hair Dryer has received the awards below…pretty impressive, right? So, can we talk? Do you spend hours on your hair? Does it pay off? I have to admit I am really struggling with getting this new haircut to behave! Do you have any styling tips? Please leave a comment or two, and we can talk! I promise to respond as quickly as possible.

  1. I received the Zuvi too and use it always. It is so much better then my old one. We need devices like that in our lives don’t we!

    • Yes, we absolutely do, Nancy! Your photos were so much more attractive than mine…hahaha!!!

  2. I so rarely blow dry my hair but when I do I definitely have to use a diffuser or else the curls get all frizzy (and it takes forever to try hair with a diffuser). I might not mind it so much if the air isn’t hot! I’ll have to add this to my wishlist.

    • I would have the limpest hair ever if I didn’t blow my hair dry. It’s just so straight and fine! I bet you could find a review on YouTube of someone using it with curly hair!

      Thanks, Joanne!

  3. The Zuni did a good job on your hair. A definite look into product.

  4. Thanks for this honest review! I would love to try a lightweight dryer like this one. You hair looks so shiny after using it.

    • Thanks, Kathrine! It’s a very different kind of dryer, and I really do think my hair is healthier than before.

  5. That’s really interesting…I’d not heard of a hair dryer that uses light to dry your hair! I always air dry my hair so I’m not in the market for a hair dryer, but the light weight and lack of hot air making me sweat would be very desirable characteristics.

    • You are lucky with that fine head of hair, Sally! My hair dries fairly quickly even without a hair dryer, but then it’s like a limp rag. I’ve seen this dryer before but didn’t understand the technology behind it.

      Thanks, Sally!

  6. I am like you…it is a fabulous hair dryer. I would never in a million years think that I would be so gaga about something like this, but I am.

    • I know!!! I love that I don’t get so overheated. At first, I know I was using it for longer than necessary because I didn’t realize my hair was already dry!

      Thanks, Jodie!

  7. What a cool hair dryer!!

I’d be curious how this works on your granddaughter’s hair! I never dry mine ever with a hair dryer and my hair is nowhere near as curly as hers. I’m probably a 2B/2C. It would be nice to not have to air dry my hair all the time! It takes forever and I have to plan it into my life too much. LOL.

    • My granddaughter said it takes forever for her hair to dry even with a diffuser. She has so much hair on top of being so curly. I know there are times she has washed her hair in the evening, and it’s still damp in the morning. If you lived closer, I’d let you borrow it!!

      Thanks, Erin!

  8. My hair always take forever to dry so I’m always interested in dryers that may cut the time! This sounds like a great dryer for your hair no matter if it cuts time or not!

    • Thanks, Laura! I think my granddaughter’s hair is a bit like yours but maybe even thicker. I don’t think she ever dries hers because it just puffs out. She did tell me her hairstylist uses a diffuser on it. I, unfortunately, do not have that problem!

  9. What a wonderful review, Marsha! I know Nancy loves her Zuvi dryer, too. I only use a hair dryer a few times a year at this point because my hair is just too darn long for it. Air drying is the way to go for me! But I wish I had a dryer like this a few years back!

    • Your hair is magical! Mine is rather limp and lifeless unless I do something with it. I love this dryer as it doesn’t make me all sweaty. I would dry my hair and then have to sit under a fan to cool off!

  10. A few months ago, I was thinking of investing in a really good hairdryer, and then I promptly chopped all my hair off! However, I have now decided I prefer my hair long so I’m growing it out…AGAIN lol. i know, I’m a bit of a nutcase! So…soon, I shall be wanting to try another dryer. I did have in mind to get a Dyson though. But now I’m unsure?!
Thanks for the honest review, Marsha!
    Big hugs
    Suzy xx

    • I love your short hair, but you also look fabulous with long hair! Does your hair grow quickly? My daughter has the Dyson and likes it. I haven’t used the dryer, but I did try the Air Wrap thing and wasn’t very impressed. This dryer works really well and doesn’t overheat me! That’s kinda important at my age!
