Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 114!

Let’s just get this out of the way. It’s hot and humid here in Central Indiana. It’s in the 90s (33C) with high humidity. It’s like walking through a pool of Jello™ that hasn’t set yet. But, the good news is I’ve started a walking regime. For many years, Nigel and I used to walk to “Walk Away the Pounds” with Leslie Sansone. I thought we’d lost or donated all the old DVDs, but I found the one I really like, So, I started with that in the garage. I just open both garage doors and walk away (hopefully, some pounds). Welcome to the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! Look for the link up to go live Thursdays at 9:30pm EDT. Sue’s post goes live in Australia on Friday at 12:30 pm.

Wouldn’t you like to know more about your hostesses? We’ve got you covered there! Please feel free to drop by the others to see what their blogs are all about! We are a very diverse group of bloggers. Links to each blog appear below.

Marsha from Marsha in the Middle started blogging in 2021 as an exercise in increasing her neuroplasticity.  Oh, who are we kidding?  Marsha started blogging because she loves clothes, and she loves to talk or, in this case, write!

Melynda from Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household  – The name says it all, we homestead in East Texas, with three generations sharing this land. I cook and bake from scratch, between gardening and running after the chickens, and knitting!

Lisa from Boondock Ramblings shares about the fiction she writes and reads, her faith, homeschooling, photography and more.

Sue from Women Living Well After 50 started blogging in 2015 and writes about living an active and healthy lifestyle, fashion, book reviews and her podcast and enjoying life as a woman over 50.  She invites you to join her living life in full bloom.

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Karin from Karin’s Cottage.

Karin says, “Here at the Kottage my amazing hubby and I always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty.  Our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with!  We have lots of family and friends coming over for Sunday dinners.  I love hosting all kinds of birthday partiesbaby showersgraduation parties or my favorite, outdoor parties in our backyard.

Sometimes you may find me in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby or I am in the backyard grilling on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us.  I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table!  I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too!  I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha!  We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 36 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors!  I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

Recently we have been able to travel a little bit to Europe mostly to Italy and London.  While in Italy we found a 250 year old Italian palace and we bought it!! I know how crazy is that?  We are in the process of renovating it and finding secret rooms and treasures.  I have to say as beautiful as Europe is, there is just something so special about being in my own Kottage surrounded by the things we love and have created and most especially our family and friends.   So come on into my Kottage and stay awhile you will always be welcomed.” You visit Karin here, and please let her know we sent you!

  1. Great to hear you’re out walking. I love it. My husband has been getting up at 6 to do “Japanese walking” for 30 mins every day. It’s a combination of fast walking, brief breaks. Thanks for the link-up

    • Thanks, Gail! I’m actually just walking in a small spot in our garage. That way, I’m not out in the sun (though I miss the Vit D). I’ve never heard of Japanese walking. I’ll have to look for that. Maybe once the weather cools down, I could try that!

  2. Thanks for hosting the party. Enjoy your walking!

    • You’re welcome, Nancy! I don’t exactly enjoy it because, right now, all I’ve got is the sound. But, I can think about lots of things as I walk.

  3. Thanks so very much for the shout out Marsha! I appreciate it!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • You are welcome, my friend! Your Belk review was so good. I sure wish we had Belk or Dillards up here. I can go to Cincinnati and find a Dillards. But, I don’t want to do that these days!

  4. While “walking through a pool of Jello” does not sound like much fun, good for you for starting a new walking regimen! The past few days the daytime temps have been in the 60’s and my hubby has joked about turning on the furnace during the night! Crazy weather! Thanks for another fun party, Marsha!

    • Thanks, Laura! I was trying to figure out what it felt like, and that was the best I could come up with! Wow! Your temps sound wonderful to me. We aren’t even getting that low at night. You must be much farther north than me! I’m always glad when you link up, Laura!

  5. I’m really inspired with this post. I will strive to do better.

    • You are so welcome, Deb! I loved seeing all the photos so it was hard to pick just one! That lasagna looked delicious! Thanks for linking up with us!

  7. Since I was getting away from regular exercise, I am putting in back two miles walk early morning before 8. My leg/knee is giving me issues when I run and it is so hot, so I am giving myself a break!

    • I have been getting the walks in whenever I can. Last night, it was pretty late so I showered before bed because I was so sticky. My leg hurts at the beginning, but after I warm up, it’s much better. But, I’m also not running. Good luck to you when you’re out there!

  8. Good luck with your walking regime! And kudos to you for making that start. That’s often the hardest part. And thanks so much for the shout out. I am honored!

    • Thanks, Michelle! Now, keeping with it is another story! I was so glad to see your post and am happy life is good for you, Dan, and Valentino.

  9. Thanks for the reminder, I have watched Lesley Sansome in the past, just what I need, it’s far to easy to forget good habits!

    • Thanks, Pamela! I think I started “walking” with Leslie close to 20 years. I started with one mile and then worked up to one of her four milers. We lifted weights along the way, too. It’s really a good basic exercise program which is what I need to get started!

  10. The weather has been a doozy! I’m also trying to get more movement in my days. Hope it’s been at least mildly enjoyable!
