Week 117!
Here’s your PSA for the day. My oldest helps out some elderly people with their computer problems. It seems one of his “clients” was scammed and turned over control of her computer to some scammers. My son can usually fix that remotely. This time, however, as fast as he could remove the malware, they put it back on. He ended up telling the woman to disconnect her computer from everything. She had to freeze her credit (which is a really good idea anyway) and contact her bank. Just remember, friends, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And, if someone calls you and says you’ve got a computer problem, and it will only cost this much to fix it…you’re probably being scammed. Find yourself a Josh (my son) you can trust for computer issues. Luckily, this woman knew to call him. I’m pretty sure he’ll have her all sorted out soon. Welcome to the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! Look for the link up to go live Thursdays at 9:30pm EDT. Sue’s post goes live in Australia on Friday at 12:30 pm.
As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Judee from Gluten Free A to Z.

You’re welcome, Deb! Thank goodness for sons who know those things, right?
My mom could use someone like your son! She has so many issues with her technology and it’s so hard to help her!
Thanks so very much for the link up Marsha!
xo,
Kellyann
You’re welcome, Kellyann! Well, he does work remotely! He works for several elderly people and doesn’t get home until late many nights. It would be difficult to find someone you fully trusted. His work spread through word of mouth.
What a blessing that your son was able to help out his client! It is definitely something to be aware of and mindful of and it’s rather despicable the way some prey on others. Sometimes it’s hard to discern the difference, especially as we age! Thank goodness for people like your son! Thanks so much for hosting another great party!
You’re welcome, Laura! I should probably do a follow up post so people will know exactly what happened with this woman. It wasn’t that she did anything wrong…well, she did…but, it was more a case of panicking and then trying to get out of it.
Ugh! I’m sorry for your son’s elderly client. Every once in awhile my mom receives scams like that on her phone. Fortunately, so far she is remembering to be skeptical and ask me about it. But those scam messages are so alarming, I can see how someone could be taken in. Glad she got hold of your son so quickly.
Thanks, Michelle! Josh warned me not to ever let someone take over my computer! Like I would! But, he said what happened to this woman was her entire screen started blinking and saying something was wrong. She couldn’t even get out of the program. He said, if that happens, you just close the lid on your laptop, or unplug your PC. It took him several hours to get it straightened out for her. I’m just glad she stopped when she did and called him, or she’d be out several thousand dollars.
I am going to have to visit that blog: we are reducing gluten in one of the boys’ diets to see if it helps with acne and it seems that limiting it and dairy really helps! I am teaching the boys to never click on links in emails or texts: it usually is a scam!

I hope that helps your son. I know acne is such a difficult thing for kids. I have to remind Mike all the time not to click through texts or emails. You would think, given he once had a very high security clearance, he’d remember!
Thanks, Mireille!
Josh to the rescue!! You have raised some great humans 🤎
Aww, thanks, Edi! I think so, too!
Yes it is so important you have someone you can trust. Thanks for hosting!
You’re welcome, Nancy! I’m lucky to have Josh (for many reasons). What was funny was when he told me what not to do…as if I would do it. I am a little wiser than that!
I want to go to Iceland too! I got leaked onto the dark web by my telco (thanks) so I’ve frozen my credit for about 3 years now. I just can’t deal with the stress of it all. Strange days indeed….
Thanks, Lydia! We have been in so many massive data breaches that we froze ours a few years ago, too. It’s a shame these people, who are obviously intelligent, can’t put their brains to better use.
thankful for my personal IT folks too! Each kid seems to have their specialty too. 3 out of 5 isn’t too bad. Seriously they really help their mom out!
That’s wonderful, Linda! It’s good to have kids who “specialize,” right? I’m so glad my son was able to help that woman as well as many others (including me).
