Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 128!

Oh, yesterday, Nigel and I got our flu shots. I am one of those people who are knocked out the next day after a flu shot. And, sure enough, this year was no different. Actually, last night was pretty miserable as I just couldn’t get comfortable. When I was a kid, Mom would make us get flu shots every fall. I was notorious, I’m pretty sure, at our doctor’s office. This was back in the day when doctors had their own offices, mind you. Anyway, if I needed a shot, the nurse and Mom would have to hold me down. That was, of course, after they’d caught me! And, after the shot, I’d promptly pass out! These days, I don’t exactly love getting a shot, but I’m not fainting anymore! Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I’m not sure about times right now, but I will still be aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Arpita from Caffeinated Frame.

Arpita says, “Hi there! My name is Arpita Singh, and I believe myself to be a creative soul with an undying love for art and writing. I find myself constantly drawn to anything that allows me to express a matter creatively, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my interest with you through this blogging website Caffeinated Frame.
Nothing compares to starting the day with a fresh, warm cup of coffee, to get the energy and focus one needs to tackle the day ahead.
I have been fortunate enough to have lived two totally different lives in two distinct cities, providing me with an exceptional opportunity to learn from both. The experiences I have gained through these two vastly different worlds have taught me invaluable lessons that I am eager to share these with you.

When I am not working, I engage myself in various activities like reading, writing, managing daily chores, and indulging in creating art and designs. Life is a journey of self-discovery and exploration, and I hope this site becomes our medium for that, our medium to step out of our comfort zone, take risks, and embrace new experiences.

Come join me on this journey of creativity and self-expression.” You can find Arpita here. Please let her know we sent you!

  1. Dan and I need to get our flu shots too. But he came home from retrieving our Vespa from the Genoa, Italy port with a nasty bug. It’s been hanging on after two weeks. He’s a bit better everyday, but it’s been slow. And like you, he always is in bed for 24 hours after his flu shot. So we are waiting for him to get well, so we can make him sick for a day. 😂

Not fainting when you get a vaccine is a huge improvement!

    • Oh, that stinks! I do hope he’s feeling better soon so you can get them. I’m also glad you haven’t gotten it from him. Yeah, after giving birth, needle sticks are nothing…at least, that’s what I tell myself! Thanks, Michelle!

  2. The ex hated needles. Once he was at the doctor’s with me and while they were taking my blood, the nurse asked him to hold something. I told them that it would be a good idea for him to turn around. At the zoo and at home with the animals he could do all kinds of things because he knew he needed to, but blood drawing on humans made him very queasy!

    • Hahaha!! The only time Mike has been queasy was during the birth of our daughter. He got hot and had to sit down. I still am not overly fond of giving blood. I have to look away and think of something else.

      Thanks, Cat!

  3. Thanks, for the link up! We used to do fly shots when the kids were all little but we haven’t in the past 12 years or so! Have a great weekend! My first order of business today is to go to ATT and see why my phone won’t turn on this morning!

    • You’re welcome! We didn’t get flu shots for years, but we decided as we have gotten older that it’s a good idea. I hope you were able to figure out your phone issue!

  4. Thanks so very much for the link up!
    xo,

  5. I got my flu shot last week, too, and I always plan on a day of not feeling great afterward! Your experiences as a child remind me of my brother! We still tease him to this day of how he’d run around the exam room trying to avoid a shot! he was always exhausted afterward! We’re sharing #39, #40 and #41 this week. Thanks for the party and for always being a great host, Marsha! Happy Halloween Weekend!

    • You’re welcome for the link up and Happy Halloween! Your poor brother…my siblings still tease me at times. I was down for most of the day, and my arm still feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat. Now, I have to go back for my pneumonia shot!

  6. Thanks for hosting today’s link-up. Have a wonderful weekend.
    Happy Halloween🎃👻

  7. Oh gosh; you sound like you were lots of fun as a child! LOL My middle son took 3 people to hold down for getting shots but thankfully he never fainted.

    • Oh, Joanne! You have no idea how big a brat I was. I really was just terrible, but those flu shots brought out the beast in me. I think, once they corralled me, I just surrendered, then fainted!

  8. I’m not great with needles either. And I always get sick after the flu shot even tho I’ve been told this is not possible as it’s not a live virus…but feels real enougb! Ha

    • Thanks, Lydia! It never fails. My husband doesn’t even get a sore arm. It’s now been two days, and my arm still feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat! I agree…it may not be possible, but it definitely feels real!
