Week 141!
Y’all know I love snow, right? But, cold weather, as in low temperatures, are not my favorite. It’s been a bit warmer so some of the snow has melted. The problem is it then freezes overnight, and we have icy patches. At least, Jack isn’t suffering as much. Today, I had both a Gallery Conversation and a tour. Have I mentioned I love being a docent? I have…hmmm….well, it is definitely the way I’m meeting socialization goals. It’s so interesting to see a piece of art through others’ eyes. You can look at a piece of art a dozen times, and then someone sees something completely new to you. If you’re ever in Indianapolis, let me know! We can go to the museum, and I’ll give you a deluxe tour. Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I’m not sure about times right now, but I will still be aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?
As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Laura-Kim from Wisdom and Wrinkles.

Laura-Kim says, “I’m Laura , a 46-year-old recovering helicopter mom learning to fly solo as my nest gradually empties.
After 18 years of blogging about the chaos of raising four kids, I’m now navigating the unexpected adventures of midlife with hot flashes, reading glasses, and a whole new perspective.
These days, you’ll find me working from home alongside my husband (yes, we’re still talking!), managing a household that’s somehow both quieter and louder with just two kids still under our roof. I’m documenting this grand adventure of reinvention – from surviving menopause with my sense of humor intact to redefining my role as mom to young adults, while discovering who I am beyond the chaos of kids in school.
Join me as I share the laughs, tears, and unexpected wisdom that come with embracing this next chapter. Because while my wrinkles might be multiplying, so are the reasons to smile.” Please do visit her blog here, and please tell her we sent you!

I think it IS interesting seeing art thru others eyes. I had this recently when a male friend commented on a statue I’d posted and seen something quite different to what I saw – I love this about art.
Thanks, Lydia! I did a tour a week ago with seven people. The things they picked out in a painting I had never been wild about was jaw dropping. They “saw” things I’d never noticed in all the times I’ve looked at that painting. Everyone brings their own knowledge with them, too!
I agree that the way you look at art is so fascinating. And you can use all of your fascinating! Thank you for the feature, I appreciate that!
Thanks, Nancy! It is amazing what people notice and pick out to talk about. You are so welcome for the feature! I am so glad you link up with us!
It really depends a lot with whom you go to a museum, not just because of the way they look at the art itself, but also how they speak about it. It’s not always easy to put a thought into words and sometimes it takes two or more to find the right words (I remember a museum visit with a friend which became much more interesting that way than I had expected.
Happy weekend!
Thanks, Cat! You are so right! I gave a tour on Thursday that got off to a slow start. Then, the guests just opened up and started talking to each other about the art. I could barely get a word in edgewise. When I was done, they begged me to show them more! So, I showed them Harlem Nights. Mike isn’t one for art museums, but he would always go along and listen to me ooh and ahhh! When I saw the original of the Bronte sisters in London, I was utterly and completely gobsmacked! I’ve seen their portrait before, but to see it in real life is amazing! The same with the gigantic paintings of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I!
I bet it would be so fun to go to the museum with you! I love art museums. We’re still experiencing really cold temps so not much is melting but as far as I know there isn’t much ice either so there is that.
Thank you, Joanne! I love museums in general, but I think art museums are my favorite. I am not a big fan of contemporary art which is why I’m in the Contemporary Core…to learn about and appreciate it better. We had frozen pellets this morning coming down, but it warmed up enough for them to melt from the road and driveways. This is the longest we’ve had snow on the ground since we moved down here.
I am guessing you shine as a docent, Marsha! When did you first start the process of becoming one? I feel like it’s been close to a year now since you started your training. It sounds like the perfect role for you! Plus, I agree with you – I don’t mind the snow or even the cold if I bundle up. It’s the ice on the walkways and roads that makes me nervous, especially as I get older. I’ll be happy when this part of the season is behind us! As always, thanks for this Friday link up! We so appreciate all you and your cohosts do to keep it going! Thank you!
Aww, thanks, Laura! I absolutely adore being a docent. I started training in January last year and became certified by passing my graduation tour in June. It was a very compressed and intense training. Of course, the training is ongoing with various “Cores” starting back up. I am in the European and Contemporary Cores as well as the Lilly House (AKA Oldfields). The training for the Lilly house starts next month, and I can’t wait! Oh, I am with you about ice. I can’t afford to fall and break something as I am the man and the woman of the house right now. I really should take my cell phone with me when I go out in case I did fall. And, thank you for linking up with us. Your posts are always so much fun!
One place I need to go back that I haven’t gone in quite a few years in Atlanta is the High Museum! It would be a nice activity for a hot summer day. I enjoyed a few art museums in the US, but I have been to more in Europe.

Thanks, Mireille. Now that I think of it, I think I have been to more art museums in the UK than in the US. They are one of my favorite places to visit anywhere.
Marsha,
My Link Ups for today’s party are # 36, 38 and 40!
I agree with you in that I too love snow….But these cold temps are not even allowing the snow to melt here…It has been our coldest Winter here in NEPA in 16 years…
Thanks so much for hosting this charming party!!! I truly do appreciate it as I do know the time involved with it….I hope you and your family are well and enjoying your week!
Hugs,
Deb

We had a bit of a warm up here on Friday though it started out with little frozen pellets. That worried me for a bit until I saw that they had all melted. It’s been so bitterly cold. I was just thinking this is the longest we’ve had snow cover in the almost 11 years we’ve lived down here. And, thank you for linking up with us each week, Deb!
I loved Amy’s too! I missed Nancy’s so I a going to read that now.
Thanks for mentioning mine. It’s been fun to watch these movies. A nice distraction from the cold! I just can’t believe how cold it is!!
You’re welcome! I really needed to hear what Amy had to say. And, Nancy always has wonderful posts!
