Week 108!
We are now two weeks post-op. Nigel had his first appointment, and it went so well! He’s thrilled with the way his left hip is responding. Actually, I don’t know which one of us is happiest! He’s even beginning to talk about vacations next year! Friends, that’s a big one because he’d convinced himself he wasn’t traveling ever again. I keep telling him I want to spend a month in the English countryside even if we have to sail there. I’m so happy for him I could just about burst! And, to top it off, we recently celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. I just can’t believe it’s been that long. Due to appointments of every kind, my post is again abbreviated. I apologize and hope to be back at full force next week! Anyway, welcome to the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! Look for the link up to go live Thursdays at 9:30pm EDT. Sue’s post goes live in Australia on Friday at 12:30 pmWouldn’t you like to know more about your hostesses? We’ve got you covered there! Please feel free to drop by the others to see what their blogs are all about! We are a very diverse group of bloggers. Links to each blog appear below.

Marsha from Marsha in the Middle started blogging in 2021 as an exercise in increasing her neuroplasticity. Oh, who are we kidding? Marsha started blogging because she loves clothes, and she loves to talk or, in this case, write!
Melynda from Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household – The name says it all, we homestead in East Texas, with three generations sharing this land. I cook and bake from scratch, between gardening and running after the chickens, and knitting!
Lisa from Boondock Ramblings shares about the fiction she writes and reads, her faith, homeschooling, photography and more.
Sue from Women Living Well After 50 started blogging in 2015 and writes about living an active and healthy lifestyle, fashion, book reviews and her podcast and enjoying life as a woman over 50. She invites you to join her living life in full bloom.
As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Laura and Laurie of Our Grand Lives!

Laura and Laurie write, “Welcome to Our Grand Lives! We are two women from the midwest who love our lives… we love the changing seasons, we love our family and friends, we love our God, we’ve always loved teaching little ones and, more than just about anything, we now love being grands! We are Laurie and Laura, two retired kindergarten teachers whose lives often crisscrossed over the years as we raised our families. Now that life is moving at a slower pace, we’ve been able to reconnect and celebrate our new found freedoms and our new titles of ‘Grammy’ and ‘Gramma.’ In retirement, we quickly realized that we missed teaching and that we love learning, so we set out to find ways in which we could use these skills in our new roles as grands. And so, our vision for “Our Grand Lives” was born! Our goal in writing this blog is to share what we’ve found successful with our littles, build a library of resources and offer some ways to tweak or change an idea to meet differing needs. At the same time, we hope to use this blog as a way to document and share our grand lives with our family, friends and readers! We hope you’ll join us on our journey!” You can visit Laura and Laurie here, and please tell them we sent you!
And, now it’s your turn!

I’m just so happy to hear/read he is doing better! I don’t even care if it is a shortened post! yay! And happy belated anniversary!
Thank you, Lisa! It’s been an amazing turnaround. Seriously, on Tuesday, he was saying he wished he’d never had the first surgery let alone the second. Now, he’s off the powerful pain meds so he’s thinking clearly, and he’s so much better. Thanks for the anniversary wishes! I can’t believe it’s been 49 years! Wow! That’s just so many years, right?
Hi, Marsha – I’m so happy for you both! Wishing you many happy times ahead – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Thanks so much, Angie! It is so good to see him feeling and acting better…except now he just won’t stop talking! Oh, well, I’ll take that!
Happy Anniversary and what a nice gift feeling better is!!
That’s truly good news.
Have a happy weekend!

Thanks, Cat! It is so good to see Mike feeling better and moving much easier.
So pleased to hear about Nigel. Come over to London next year!
Thanks, Gail! I really hope to be there. I thought this would be the year, but other things came up!
Hi Marsha – what great news about Nigel. So pleased to hear he’s healing so well. And Happy Anniversary! Things are really moving on. Very best and hugs to you both X
Thank you, Penny! It’s so strange to think we have been married for 49 years (together for 52). I still feel like a young mom in my head anyway! Mike is doing so well…I am so glad he has turned this corner. He’s actually half agreed to a month in the countryside in England next summer. I told him we probably would have to go by boat as I’m not sure he could handle a plane.
Thanks so much for the link up, Marsha!

Kellyann

Debbie-Dabble Blog
Thank you, Deb! I’m glad to hear your knee replacement was a good thing as I’m probably looking at that in 5-10 years. But, I’m determined to do whatever I need to postpone that. I’m so glad you link up with us! Your posts are always so beautiful.
My friend who is 73 and had a hip replacement a couple years ago just spent a week in Iceland and is back to slow running. I think a big part to her recovery is moving and also listening to her body and taking it easy when she needed too. I hope your husband’s recovery continues to go well! And happy anniversary!

Thanks, Mireille! That’s really good about your friend. Mike was told he was never to run or jog again. I suppose that varies from surgeon to surgeon. Mike is feeling so much better. His leg is now at that yellow and green stage of bruising which continues to go down to his foot. They told us that is quite normal.
So happy for you and Nigel. Being able to move and enjoy life again is such a wonderful thing. Congratulations on hour anniversary. Lots of years spent growing together and sharing life’s moments. Have a wonderful week.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
Thank you, Lynne! It’s so good to see him able to move about with less trouble and definitely less pain. I remember thinking our 50th anniversary was so far away when we hit maybe 20 years, and here it is next year! I hope you have an amazing weekend!
I’m so glad to hear Nigel’s – and yours – good news with this recent hip surgery.
Thanks, Michelle! It’s been a long time coming. I really do believe we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! I hope all is well with you and Dan!
Your post, with it’s update about Nigel, made me smile big, Marsha! I am so happy for you both! My own husband is feeling better after quite some time of chronic illness and he’s feeling the light at the end of tunnel so I understand the sense of relief and joy you are feeling! Speaking of a sense of joy… we are so delighted to be this week’s featured bloggers at this link up! This community is so special and we can’t tell you how much we appreciate your ongoing support and encouragement! THANK YOU! Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!
Thank you, Laura! It has been amazing to see the difference from just a couple of days ago. I hope your husband is soon feeling much, much better. You are so very welcome for the feature! We love having you link up with us!
Sorry so tardy on the commenting!
Thanks, Lydia! Life gets busy, I know!
Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
You’re welcome, Patrick! Thanks for linking up with us!
That is so great! The fact that he’s talking about vacations shows he’s feeling a lot better I would think.
Thank you, Nicole! You are so right…he’s been very encouraging for me to go with a friend. But, now, he’s actually talking about going somewhere. That really is big!
