Welcome back to another edition of the Fashion Files, hosted by Amy and me! If you don’t know Amy, her blog is Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. It seems like fashion link parties are slowly disappearing, and I didn’t want that to happen to this link up. If you’re a fashion blogger, please spread the word because we’d like this little link party to grow and grow!
Last week’s looks…
Tuesday – Today was a big day! The home health care nurse removed Nigel’s PICC line! She won’t be coming back, hopefully. I told her it was very nice to meet her, but I hoped we wouldn’t meet again! I didn’t watch, but she had that thing out of him in no time! It’s so strange not to have all these alarms set on my phone! I had some returning to do at Loft and Old Navy. I had absolutely no intention of buying anything. Well, let’s just say that was a mistake! I found this dress and these pants as well as a dress that isn’t online. Of course, a couple of days later, they had a big sale with all dresses $29. I was tempted to reorder them, but I didn’t want the hassle of returning them. The pants are too long because, apparently, they never made them in Petites. I will have to either try an original hem or lose the design at the bottom when I hem them. That design is the exact width I need to make them the right length. But, I really like that detail so I’m going to try basting an original hem in first. Then, at Old Navy, I found another of those cute ribbed tees in a pinky red stripe. I’ve been looking for a black/white striped tee, but, apparently, this is not the year for them! I also picked up this gorgeous graphic tee (Amy, I think you need this one)! I bought Nigel a shirt and some khakis, too. I needed $9.00 more to get $20 off so I bought another tee. My total? Less than $34! I bought these cute embroidered jeans at Old Navy earlier this year. I thought this cropped eyelet (last year from Old Navy) top was the right feminine touch to go with the flowers on the jeans. The only thing I think is weird about the jeans is that little hammer holding loop. These aren’t really cargo jeans, so what’s up with that?

Wednesday – Wednesday, I did a photo shoot. I’m still trying to master the tripod. I have to get my phone in the thingamabob that holds it just right. If it’s too far up, the remote doesn’t work. It’s a bit like Goldilocks! After I finished the shoot, I just kept this beautiful Tulip Clothing dress on the rest of the day. It’s comfortable and seersucker which means it doesn’t show wrinkles. The rest of the day was spent catching up on blogging. We’re rewatching “Grimm,” and I love it just as much as I did the first time.

Thursday – I had VTS practice at the museum this morning. I just got these pants from Gudrun Sjödén, and I freaking love them! They’re a silk-cotton blend, an elastic waist with a tie, and pockets! Even better, they are just the right length. I already had this cardigan and wore a favorite striped tank from Talbots underneath it. I got to the museum early and had lunch with one of my friends. I have learned to order off the kid’s menu because the portions are much better. I didn’t practice today, but it’s always good to watch other docents practicing as well as to pick out other pieces of art for any tours I might give. Tonight, I went to my youngest granddaughter’s orchestra concert. I am always so impressed by these kids (and the teachers)! I didn’t get to see her because I left early (yes, I know) because I have reached that unfortunate age when I don’t like to drive after dark. And, if you’ve ever drive on 465 around Indianapolis, you know the drivers actually think they’re on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! I wore the same outfit to O’s concert.

Friday – Yep, there are lots of days I look like this. It was one of those lazy days when I just didn’t feel like doing anything. I helped Nigel with his shower. That’s an entire process, but it’s so much easier with that PICC line gone. I am still so scared when he steps into the shower. We do have a shower chair. But, the shower floor is wet because we have to run the water for so long to get hot. Everyone I’ve talked to in our neighborhood says it’s just the way it is with these condos. Anyhoo, he then has to pivot on that left leg and sit on the chair. Luckily, when we had the tub/shower combination replaced, we put a grab bar parallel to the door. The occupational therapist said that was the smartest thing we could have done. It was just a lucky accident we put it there. I am pretty sure I took a nap as I still don’t sleep soundly right now. I also picked up a grocery order.

Saturday – I went shopping with my oldest granddaughter. I had intended to buy her a birthday present, but the dress she wanted was out of stock, both in the store and online. I, however, had no problem finding something. I bought this cute neutral palm print skirt at J Jill. My granddaughter was not impressed with the skirt at all because it’s “beige.” There was a slight mix up in communications. I arrived at her house about the same time she arrived at mine! Yes, I have three pairs of these horseshoe jeans from Gap. This pair is lighter in color and denim, I think. They’re striped which makes them on trend! I have gotten to the point of almost always mixing prints. I wore another Garnet Hill cardigan with the jeans. I don’t know what was wrong with the silly thing, but it kept wanting to gap at the buttons. It’s the right size because there’s plenty of room. Nigel snapped this photo for me because I’d completely forgotten to get one earlier in the day. I actually had to get redressed.

Sunday – Just repeat Friday’s look with a different tee shirt. I went to Lowe’s and bought ferns, lupines, cone flowers, creeping phlox, irises, and some other things. Oh, yeah, I also got a set of trimmers for bushes. Nigel had a set, or is it pair, and loaned them to someone. Anyway, we didn’t have any, and I wanted to have a whack or two at one of my rose bushes. My goodness, but that bill added up fast! I came home, trimmed my rose bush, took photos for a blog post, and wrote the blog post as well as one for Style Imitating Art!
Monday – Today, a group of docents and I (well, I’m a docent, too) went to the home of a mosaic artist. I’m in a group of docents who go to different kinds of art experiences. We’ve been to museums, homes, and lots of other things. I was amazed at what this woman could do, and she’s self taught! Her home was spectacular. Her screened-in porch was as big as my living room. When they designed this house, she and her husband (he’s a music therapist) each wanted their own creative space. Oh, my gosh!!! Honestly, I feel like such a dweeb, but the art she had on the walls was as amazing as her own work. And, she had the most fabulous hot pink oversized loveseat in her bedroom! And, the windows…oh, y’all know how I love windows! She was so good at telling us about what she does and how she does it. She’d even made up a Powerpoint presentation for us. I wore a pair of grey Talbots jeans with a lighter grey J Jill jacket. I love the color combination of grey and pink so I wore this pink palm-like tee underneath. I might have done a little to boost her economy, too!

What to link up…
Please link up your favorite fashion posts, old and new. Please take the time to visit some of the other bloggers. I’m sure they would appreciate it, and please let them know you are visiting from our link up! A huge thanks to Jill and Kellyann for agreeing to let us host this new “old” link party. And, an even bigger thanks to Amy for being my co-host! In case you’re not sure about what to post, I’ve actually stolen some of Amy’s Monday post (thanks, Amy): “You can show one outfit you’ve worn or multiple outfits you’ve worn. You can talk about clothing, shoes, accessories, undergarments, swimwear, brands you stand by, thrifting, online shopping, in person shopping – whatever you want to talk about that involves fashion.
I have had a few comment that they aren’t fashionable and I say to that “pish posh”. Just show us what you’ve worn!” I love that…you don’t have to be dressed to the nines (look at what I’ve worn) to link up!
You can link up here!

I love the pattern on the blue and green pants!
And I envy you the visit with the mosaic artist. Those art experiences sound great!
I absolutely love that tulip dress – it will be fab on a hot day. Also these striped pants – nice! What a good thing you are a docent. It must be great to be surrounded by art of every description and also be learning from your experience as a docent. It must be a very enriching experience. Well done you!
