Week 11!
Welcome back for this week’s edition of the Fashion Files, hosted by Amy and me! If you don’t know Amy, her blog is Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. If you’re a fashion blogger, this is the place to be. It’s the day of the week where I talk about the things I wore last week and what I did as well as anything I might have bought. It’s also the place where you can tell us about what you wore, what you bought, what you wished you’d bought! Please tell your friends about our link party because we’d love to see it grow and grow! I try to visit everyone’s blog who links up, but for some reason, I can’t leave comments. If you don’t see a comment, please know I’ve visited, but I just can’t comment. So, let’s get the shenanigans going, right?
Last week’s looks…
Tuesday – Nigel had physical therapy this afternoon. I did my morning chores in my usual outfit of tee and shorts. Trust me, you don’t want to see that. Then, after showering, I put on this beautiful Simply Perfect Dress in Abyss from Tulip Clothing along with a pair of White Palazzo pants (also from Tulip Clothing). I also did a photo shoot with it because I just felt so good in it!

Wednesday – I had lunch with a good friend today. I had to get around super early because I had to make sure everything was at hand for Nigel and Jack since I’d be gone during lunch. I was going to be half an hour away but could be much more given all the road construction. I wasn’t sure what to wear because I’d never been to this little restaurant. I’m glad I dressed up a wee bit because my friend wore a dress. It’s hard to believe we only met about 18 months ago because I feel such a connection to her and my other two docent friends. I wore these Linen Stretch crops from J Jill (which are full length on me) with an old Nic + Zoe sweater. I was afraid I’d be too cold, but I was just right.

Thursday – I finally planted those coneflowers and daisies I’d bought the week before. I was wearing my usual “planting” tee and an old pair of shorts. After I finished that, I showered and got dressed. I’m wearing an old pair of Old Navy linen shorts and an Old Navy tee! I tried to get caught up on reading and commenting on blogs as well as responding to comments on my blog. Who knew it takes so long to be a blogger? Certainly not me! I was supposed to be a docent on Friday night for Gallery Conversations for a big soiree they throw every year. Things got a little confused, and Gallery Conversations were cancelled. I was a little bummed because I’d been doing my homework in order to provide good information and be able to speak with guests about the fashion on display. But, knowledge is never a bad thing. I learned we have a lot of Halston in our textiles collection!

Friday – I had a grocery pick up and some packages to mail. I also worked a bit on blogging, reading and commenting. I had a free ticket to the soiree, officially called Artful Party, but I hadn’t decided whether or not to go. As y’all know I’m an extroverted introvert, and the idea of going to this all by myself was scary. But, I decided it was an event I’d never attended, and it would be fun to see what it was all about. I was really unprepared for just how big a thing it is! It’s such a cool thing to see the museum filled with people, enjoying the art, the music, and each other. And, then…I had a moment of fangirling! One of my favorite paintings at the museum is Big White System. It’s a powerful piece and gave me chills the first time I saw it. I don’t have permission to share it, but here’s an article about it. One of my docent besties told me the artist, Kyng Rhodes, was there. She and her husband had special tickets (I didn’t know about those) and had been at the museum for an early part of the evening. She spoke with Mr. Rhodes and told me he was still there. I asked her to keep me in the loop if she spotted him again. We were standing talking, and all at once, she got a look on her face and said, “That’s him!” He happened to look at us, and I just beamed from ear to ear! After introducing us and me gushing about his art, I asked if I could take a photo and put it on the blog. He graciously agreed! So, there are two looks for Friday…what I wore during the day (the Nora dress from Gudrun Sjödén) and one of my Eileen Fisher crushed silk dresses with a matching duster over it.

Saturday – I had two hours of Gallery Conversations in the afternoon, but I also knew I had two blog posts due on Monday. So, I spent a lot of Saturday morning working on those posts…gathering the information, figuring out how to interpret the challenges, and writing. Then, I hurried up and got ready for my two hours. I love Gallery Conversations and had some of the best ever! I kept running into the same people…we’d laugh and say hi and go on our merry ways. I also spent a lot of time in conversation in the various galleries. I think that’s one of the things I love best about these assignments. I get to impart little nibbles of information and answer questions. It’s the teacher in me, I think. Here, I’m wearing a J Crew linen tee with one of the Farm Rio skirts I bought. I actually added a wide rattan belt before I left for the museum, though. I wish I had thought to put it on for the photo.

Sunday – This was a marathon day of photo taking, blog writing, and just lifing! I really didn’t think I would get both posts written, but, somehow I did. I was up quite late, but that’s par for the course for me. I wore this cute little dress from Old Navy, but I bought a size too small. It fits, but it’s a little snug around the arms. I also had to alter my Cinderella dress before I could take photos for Monday’s Songful Style post (here). We are getting ready for some really hot weather so I wanted to spend as much time as I could outside. But, I spent way more time inside getting those two posts done!

Monday – Our neighborhood HOA meeting was today. Our board keeps talking about making some changes, but they never say what they are. So, I really wanted to go. I went with the neighbor across the street. I keep telling her if they ever sell their house, I’ve got dibs! It’s what I wish we would have built, but our lot wouldn’t have accommodated a three car garage. And, it has lots and lots of windows! She and her husband spend about half the year in Florida. Of course, nothing was really accomplished at the meeting other than to tell us prices are going up all over the place, and our dues will also go up. I tell ya, if I could get Nigel to move, I think I would! The problem is this house is perfect for him right now. We have extra wide doorways and hallways because it was built for old people! It’s also why we have these stupid big bathrooms…you need them big when navigating a wheelchair. Anyway, I wore this cute gingham skort from Talbots with an old J Crew tee from their Pride collection. I need to remember these short, boxy tees really don’t do me any favors! Then, after I got home, my oldest granddaughter came over to bake cookies. I knew it was a dumb idea because it’s 86 as I’m finishing this post (8:18 pm) with a real feel of 95 which means it was a whole lot hotter when we were baking cookies. We made oatmeal raisin which is a good thing. I don’t like raisins so I won’t be tempted to eat any!

Purchases…
I don’t think I ordered anything nor did I buy anything last week. I just got groceries and hung out at home. Oh, wait! I did buy a new Michael Michaud necklace and earrings at the gift shop on Saturday. They’re gorgeous, and I can’t wait to show them to you. I really need to stay out of the gift shop!
What to link up…
Please link up your favorite fashion posts, old and new. Please take the time to visit some of the other bloggers. I’m sure they would appreciate it, and please let them know you are visiting from our link up! I really do thank Amy for being my co-host! Feel free to show us what you’ve been wearing, what you’ve bought, returned, or just thought about. Maybe you could share something you’d love to have but never will for whatever reason. You can tell us…we’ll understand. Tell us about your shopping habits. Do you enjoy thrifting, reselling, or online shopping? Just write a post about fashion of any kind. You could even do a review of an awards show. There are always awards shows, it seems! And, remember, even if you’re a movie reviewer, a baking blog, a book lovers blog, a blog that’s anything but fashion, I’m betting you get dressed. Snap a photo, write a little about it, and link it up! You really don’t have to dress up, either…take a look at my Thursday look! I’m pretty sure we’ve got the bugs out of the link party now so you can link up through me or Amy! Just, please link up and spread the word! Thanks, my friends!

How neat to get to meet the artist in person! It sounds like you had a lovely and busy week. Tuesday’s outfit is my favorite and I don’t know what it is about it that I love so much but I just do.
Love all these looks Marsha! How exciting that you met the artist of one of your favorite pieces! Thanks so much for the link up!

Marsha, I am so happy you went to the Artful Party and got to meet Kyng Rhodes, how cool! I understand the hesitation. I don’t always love going out but I can say that the times I have put myself out there have paid off making it more likely that I’ll do it again!
xo,
Kellyann
Marsha, again you are killing it with your outfits! I love all of them especially the light blue dress over white palazzo pants and that gorgeous white floral skirt at the end! Oh my, I want it all! But alas, my closet room is way too full and I need to do a serious clean out. My problem is what to do with my unwanted things. I keep hoarding them for projects that I never get to so I really need to start moving some stuff OUT of my house not just to my basement. LOL Blogging really does take a lot of time, doesn’t it? I was going to write my two Monday posts on Sunday but I fell asleep editing photos! Hahaha. Then Monday came along and I managed to get both done but it took literally all day between my Mom’s Uber Service trips! I don’t understand how my teenaged children have become more dependent on me as they gain more independence for themselves! I am so excited for next summer when Archie should have his driver’s license! Momma needs a break. Hahaha.
