Minimalism Made Modern!

Surprised, right…

Earlier this summer, I was contacted by Lintico to select three pieces from their linen collection. Luckily for me, my email got overlooked! Instead, they reached out again, and offered me items from their fall collection. Once upon a time, I was a minimalist when it came to my wardrobe. That was, primarily, because I had three little kids, a husband in night school, and my own education! Let’s just say money was not growing on any of the trees in our yard! Surprisingly, even though we had only one income and three kids, neither of us could get any federal grants and didn’t even qualify for student loans! I always joked we went to school on the VISA plan. We’d charge the semester on the VISA card and pay it off before the next semester started! Nigel’s tuition was reimbursed as long as he got a C or higher in his classes. But, I digress!

Minimal clothing…

While I was going to school, I did start to pick up clothing that would work for teaching. But, I still had a very minimal closet. In fact, for several years, Nigel and I shared one small closet. It was packed, but it was still very small. Our home up north had a walk in closet which I promptly filled up. Both of the boys had two large closets in their rooms while our daughter had a large closet with those bifold doors. When the kids moved out, I used their closets as my wardrobe was beginning to grow. The same was true of our last home. There were four bedrooms with two walk in closets in the primary bedroom. That’s a lot of real estate for clothing. And, I filled them up. When we built our current home, I made sure my walk in closet was extra large. It’s very long but very narrow. Call it retail therapy, call it clothing addiction, call it anything you want…I love clothes and always have! I think, as I wrote in this post, I shop to fill holes in my heart. I also shop for that little girl who wanted new clothes but couldn’t have them until the cousins gave her hand-me-downs. No one would ever accuse me of having minimal clothing these days.

And, so…

Y’all are probably giggling at the thought of me as a minimalist, right? With all of the above and knowing how much I love clothing, I’d love to introduce you to Lintico!

Lintico was established in 2023 with a very simple belief:  “Nature heals.”  The brand initially began with pieces created from 100% European linen.  Now, the brand has evolved into a company committed to “a dedicated pursuit of ‘Uninterrupted Comfort’ for the modern woman.”  Additionally, Lintico wants to inspire women to “embrace every season of life with confidence and ease.”  I love that because I am definitely in one of those seasons most retailers seem to ignore.

A little more…

Lintico’s dedication to creating clothing that embraces the changes occurring in our bodies as we age is something about which I’m very excited.  Lintico has fashioned clothing with drape by eliminating the stiffness of traditional fabrics.  In addition, Lintico’s fabric is consciously made for those of us whose skin is hypersensitive to fabrics.  Finally, Lintico also uses fabrics that are eco-friendly, and the linen is naturally hypoallergenic.  “Wearing Lintico is a gentle reminder to ground yourself and find peace in the everyday.” Isn’t that a beautiful way to dress and honor yourself?

Minimalism…

One of the goals of Lintico is to help women create wardrobes that are flexible yet still creative and modern. You can begin with a beautiful dress like mine, change the accessories, and you have a new look! The separates available on the website (do go check it out…I have a link in my affiliates section below as well as a code [LINTICOMBK] for 10% off your purchase) are created to mix and match with ease. I will admit having fewer clothes would definitely make for easier choices! There are days I walk in my closet and think, “I have no idea what to wear.” Notice I didn’t say, “I have nothing to wear.” That’s a big difference. I have a lot from which to choose. But, I digress. Lintico, with its dedication to creating minimal closets with quality items, gives you options that are classic, fashion-forward, and very affordable. Honestly, if I didn’t already have loads of clothing, I could see building a brand new closet from their options. So, if you’re moving into a different stage of your life…retirement, weight loss/gain, or just want to re-fashion your life…Lintico just may be your answer!

The looks…

I began all three looks with the Calista Wool Arc-Panel Sculpted Pleats Midi Dress in Raspberry Red. I would call this more a burgundy than a red. It has this beautiful curved seam design at the waist. From there, deep inverted pleats flow down your body. That curve detail continues around the back as do the pleats. That’s a sign of quality, right? So many retailers would leave the focus completely on the front of the body rather than all the way round. This gorgeous dress also has pockets which are ingeniously integrated into the side seams, reducing any bulkiness at that part of the body.

Look one…

For the first look, I decided to get really creative (for me, at least). I recently bought this beautiful large square scarf with a botanical print. I’ve been watching lots of YouTube shorts for wearing large square scarves. I folded the square into a triangle and took one of the points of the triangle and pleated them several times. I made a loop with the other side of the triangle and squished the pleated part through the loop which I then pulled tight. Finally, I floofed those pleated sections out into the flower-like thing you see on my shoulder. I added this pretty little April Cornell cloche which was an almost perfect match! I would wear this to a “ladies who lunch” kinda lunch, to church, or even to the mall. I think it’s a fairly sophisticated look for me!

Look two…

This is something I’ve never done before! I’ve always thought I looked goofy when I did it. But, as usual, Kellyann influenced me. She often throws a sweater over her shoulders. It took me a bit to get it to lay just right, but, in the end, I really love this look! This is a Garnet Hill Signature Merino wool cardigan in the Painted Pomegranate Floral. I did consciously look for a sweater with low bulk and colors that would match the dress. I buttoned the cardigan completely and tossed it around my shoulders. Oh, that sounds so easy, doesn’t it? Like the first look, I kept the accessories to a minimum. I would wear this to the museum in a heartbeat! I would also wear it to lunch, shopping, church…just about anywhere!

Look three…

For this final look, I added this multi-strand beaded necklace. Y’all, this necklace is heavy, and I’m so afraid it’s going to break some day. Luckily, each strand is “bound off” at the end. I had to use a knitting term because I don’t know jewelry-making terms! So, even if the clasp comes apart (it’s just a lobster claw clasp), the necklace won’t be ruined. I got it on easily, but I struggled getting it off! I tried to get Nigel’s help, but he was strangling me as he pulled at it! I think I’d somehow or other clasped it where it wasn’t meant to be clasped. But, back to the look. I added some jeweled drop earrings to kinda go with the necklace. I like the way the statement necklace pulls attention to the curved seam at the waist. This is another look I would wear just about anywhere. My only fear is that daggone necklace breaking!

My opinion…

I don’t hesitate for one little minute in recommending Lintico for your fall and winter needs. In fact, there will be another post featuring other pieces I received from the company. The finishings on the dress and other items are immaculate. The fabric is a wool blend so it doesn’t itch. I just love the drape of all the items I received. I am really into the way clothing drapes because if it hangs up on a lump or a bump, I’m not gonna wear it! I want to take just a second to let you know I have received free products from other retailers that have failed the test of quality for me. And, I have refused to include those in my content. Of course, I let the retailers know why and assure them I will still produce content for them. It just won’t be positive. I say that only because I want your trust. I am not a blogger to make money so I don’t want you to ever think I’m telling you about something I don’t actually wear or use. Trust is earned…I fully believe that. It’s also easily thrown away when products don’t live up to their hype. I haven’t tried any of the linen pieces so I can’t speak to those, but I hope to do so in the spring next year!

The Lewk!

I wore the same pair of boots for each outfit. These are the L’Artiste Waterlily boots I bought several years ago. You can find them on resale sites, but I don’t link to those because I can’t vouch for the quality. In the first and second looks, I wore a very old pair of Brighton hoops. I wanted something that would show up but not draw attention away from the look. In the last look, I wore the above mentioned multi-strand necklace. I have no idea where I got it! The earrings, I believe, are very, very old Stella & Dot.

Wrap it up, Marsha!

How I wish a company like Lintico had been around when I was first teaching! The variety and quality of the clothing is stellar. You can do so much with a hero piece like this gorgeous dress. As I’ve shown you, with just a few changes, I’ve created three looks with items I already owned. Minimalism is a good thing just as maximalism is. Y’all know what I always say…you do you, boo! So, can we talk? Are you a minimalist or a maximalist when it comes to clothing? Do you love a good clothing challenge? Which of the three looks do you like the best? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as quickly as I can.
