Last month, I wrote about coming to the end of Nigel’s antibiotics. This month, I’m happy to tell you Nigel got his new hip joint! The surgery went well, but his blood pressure was pretty low. That, of course, meant we stayed in the hospital two nights. If you’ve ever stayed in a hospital overnight, then you know they’re not really conducive to good rest. The very best news of all is that Nigel is walking! It’s slow, and his leg is weak, but he’s walking! Today, though, is the third Thursday of the month which means it’s time for another Ageless Style challenge. This month, we are styling “Scarves” which was chosen by Jodie. Last month, Joanne selected “One Look, Three Ways.” In the past we have worn “Tweed,” “Vests,” and many other ideas. If you’re curious, you can find some of my looks here, here, here, and here. Next month’s prompt is “Polka Dots and Stripes” if you’d like to join us! Please do visit the other hostesses of the link party (oh, yes, there’s a link party) at their various sites! I apologize, but I didn’t think to photograph a look ahead of time. I have several blog posts’ worth of photos, but none have scarves. So, I am showing you a couple of different looks I’ve when I’ve worn scarves. I am confident my Ageless Style sisters will have lots of other ideas on how to wear scarves.

Wrap it up, Marsha!
Thank you for all of the comments, positive thoughts, emails, etc. I am so glad this part is over. There is always the possibility of a revision of Nigel’s left leg as his right one is about 4-5 mm longer. You wouldn’t think that would make much difference, but I can see a bit of a change in his gait. Of course, we can always just get some kind of lifts for his shoes. Again, I apologize I didn’t have a full post for you. So, can we talk? Are you a fan of wearing scarves? Do you wear them as fashion statements? Or, do you wear them just to keep warm? Please leave me a comment or two, and we can talk. I promise to respond as quickly as I can.
Thank you!

Glad to hear that you are both the other side of surgery. Best wishes for a positive recovery.
Thank you so much, Rosie! It’s a good place to be! Now to start planting flowers!
I tend to wear scarves mostly for warmth in the winter but I will wear them in spring for style. But by summer I’ve pretty much given up on them as anything just feels too hot to wrap around my neck; though I will still wear them as a headband.
Thanks, Joanne! I am with you except for the headband. My hair is so thin, it just sticks straight out and looks goofy! I would love to wear them as headbands or headwraps.
I love scarves! I have so many, but haven’t worn them very much since peri-menopause hit because I get way too hot wearing them lol! I just bought another zebra print one that is super light though and I did manage to wear it last week and I was fine YAY!
Big hugs
Suzy xx
Thanks, my friend! I can understand that. I think that’s when I took a break from wearing them, too. But, now, my neck gets cold a lot during the winter, and my thyroid messes with my thermostat! I almost feel naked if I’m not wearing one during the colder months. I love the idea of a zebra print scarf!
I have about three or four scarves and they were all gifts. I wear one in winter for warmth, but very rarely.
It feels as if the last time I really used scarves was in the 80s when it seemed we all constantly wore the printed cotton scarves from India. I also liked to wear them to tie my hair back.
So glad for Nigel’s good news. Hope you both sleep well tonight in ‘own’ bed. Hallelujah that he is already up and walking!!
I love scarves but hate having extra bulk on my chest. Just bought a new neckerchief that I am anxious to wear. Love the b&w photo shoot! Very moody and striking.
Take care of YOU! ❤️
Thank you, Leslie! The first night was a little rough as he was up constantly. We do take lots of naps, though. Yes, he is walking, but I think he’s still a bit afraid of putting weight on his right leg after not doing so for so long.
I’m coming around to the neckerchief look. Watch, though, as soon as I become proficient and comfortable with it, it will no longer be cool!
Thanks, Cat! In the 80s, I hate to admit I wore my hair in perms! It was scary, believe me. My hair is too thin and fine to tie back with a scarf so I envy you!
I am SO happy about the new hip joint for Nigel and that he is walking! I pray the recovery continues to go smoothly!
xo,
Kellyann
Thank you so much, Kellyann! We still have a long way to go so you can keep the prayers coming! Actually, he’s walking more and more each day.
So happy to hear that Nigel has a new hip and the recovery is going well! I used to wear scarves all the time and got away from it for some reason. Your prompt has inspired me to start wearing them again!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thank you, Jill! We have a long way to go, but it will be worth it! Oh, I bet you have some beautiful scarves!
I’m not a scarf person at all. And of I was I would not know how to wear them. Although I think they can add much interest to a outfit..
That’s the cool thing about fashion, isn’t it? Not everything is for everyone! You are so beautifully uniquely you, Nancy, so just keep doing what you’re doing!
I’m so glad that Nigel is improving…yippee…yahoo.
And I”m super glad you joined in because I love the option of the scarf hanging down like part of your top…it’s so unique and cool.
XOOX
Jodie
Thank you, Jodie, for the yippee and yahoo! I just really wanted to wear both the dress and that really cool scarf. It was all I could think to do. Now, I might have tied it around my hips like all the cool kids do!
Hi, Marsha – I’m so happy for you and Nigel! I’ll bet he is amazed that he can be mobile again. And, I love the way you swirled that celestial scarf around your yellow dress. Cheers – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Thank you, Angie! He’s more mobile than he’s been for a long time. He actually starts physical therapy next week, and I hope that helps even more. I’m glad you liked that…I was trying something way different for me.
You know how much I love my scarves! I will link up a few of my favorite scarf stylings!

So glad to hear that Nigel is walking! Love how you styled your scarves Marsha.

Thank you, Kathrine! I really like to wear scarves, but I need to learn some new ways to style them.
I am so glad the surgery went well! My kids are probably wondering who is this Nigel we have added to our prayers! Great little post with different ways to wear scarves!
http://www.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Thanks so much, Mireille! And, please tell your sons I appreciate their prayers because they are powerful! I’m glad you liked the short post!
That is wonderful news. I am so happy Nigel’s surgery went well and he is walking. Have a wonderful week.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
Thanks so much, Lynne! We’ve got a long road ahead, but it’s shorter every day. Have a fantastic long weekend!
I am so happy to hear about Nigel!!! And bleh, two nights in the hospital! Yuck!!! At least now he is home and walking!
Thank you, Erin! You know how hospitals are. They try so hard to let you sleep, but there are things that have to be done! It’s so good to be home and have him walking a bit more every day.
Scarves are entirely my thing every season of the year! Sending good vibes to you both!
Thanks, Sally! We need them! I should totally make a spreadsheet of my scarves. Right now, they’re rolled up and in a couple of baskets under my dresses. That means I forget about all of the different ones I have. Hmmm…I wonder where I got that idea from!
That’s good news about Nigel’s surgery. Wishing him a speedy recovery. I do like scarves, but rarely take the time to style with one.
Thank you so much, Christie! I’m hoping for the same! I love scarves and am better at wearing them when they’re out and able to be seen. I really just use a couple of different ways of wearing them. I should look at YouTube for more ways some day!
I loved this! Scarves really are one of those accessories that can completely change an outfit, and you shared so many fun styling ideas. The green scarf look especially caught my eye. Such a great reminder to shop our own closets and get creative with pieces we already own! I hope Nigel’s recovery goes well!
Thanks, Laura! I love scarves and have so many. I really should categorize them (shhh…don’t tell Jodie) by season as well as colors and shapes. Thanks for the well wishes for Nigel!
