Cicy vs Halara…
I am often influenced by my friends who just happen to be influencers! So, when Kellyann showed these Cicy Jeans in a floral design, I just had to order them. And, if you’ve read any of Amy’s posts, you’ll know of her love for Halara jeans. Well, on a recent Fashion Files, Amy gave me homework. Now, being the rule follower that I am, I ordered a pair of Halara jeans….jeans Amy has been anxiously waiting to see! My plan was to keep only one pair.
Or, Kellyann vs Amy…
Now, to be fair, I honestly think Kellyann could wear a paper bag and look fabulous. The same goes for Amy (I would kill for her hair)! Both of these women are stylish and love themselves some jeans! As y’all know, I am an Old Navy jeans person through and through. I don’t often buy jeans from places other than there. I figured I could return one pair or both if I didn’t like them. This competition…though…it’s the big time! Who will win the ultimate title of Queen of the Jeans influencer (sorry, there’s no big belt or crown, ladies)?
Cicy jeans…
The Cicy jeans are 97% cotton and 3% elastane. I kinda think elastane is just industry talk for elasticity! I could google it, but I’m too lazy. Let me just say right off the bat. These pants do not feel like jeans. They are pants, trousers, bottoms. They are not denim in the sense we think of when we say jeans. They are a beautiful dusky pink with a floral print. Does anyone here not know how much I love a floral print? Well, I love a floral print just like Eddie Rabbit loved a rainy night. If it’s floral, chances are I will love it! The floral is a toile kinda floral done in shades of browns and grey, perfect for fall or spring. I wonder how warm Kellyann finds them as I think they might be rather heavy and warm in a muggy Central Indiana summer. I will say the description (which follows) says these are both wide leg and flare. I think they’re definitely wide leg, but more like the bell bottoms I wore back in the 70s. Halara jeans…
Amy sent me a link for the jeans she orders, and I considered those. But, I used a couple of the filters, and this Asymmetrical pair popped up. I have seen that strange button/zipper configuration and thought it looked kinda cool. They came in a petite, too! These jeans are 69.8% cotton, 25.5% polyester and 4.7% elastane (there’s that elastane again). Again, these don’t really feel like jeans, but they feel more denim-y than the Cicy jeans. It took me a little minute to figure out the zipper and buttons. I didn’t read the description thoroughly, or maybe it wasn’t even there. I just thought all Halara jeans were elastic waist with the appearance of zippers and such. These really do button and zip. I ordered a medium petite, but I almost think I could have worn a small petite. It took me a bit to figure out what color I wanted. I ended up with Pageant Blue Denim. I didn’t want a lot of whiskering, and I didn’t want a light denim color. Here is the Halara description:

Pros and cons…
OK, down to the nitty gritty. The Cicy jeans had to be hemmed, one way or the other. Luckily, I know how to do an original hem. Since I loved the print, the color, the fit, I decided to go ahead and hem them. I didn’t do the best job, but I figure no one is going to be inspecting the hem of my jeans! After looking at the photos, I think they’re a titch too short so I’ll be redoing that hem. The Halara jeans, on the other hand, were the perfect length. The biggest con for them was the cost of shipping. I just hate paying shipping, but I couldn’t see ordering two pairs of jeans in order to not pay for shipping. Why not, you say? This girl needs another pair of jeans like she needs another pair of shoes! So, I paid for shipping which made them a bit more expensive than the Cicy jeans. Both pairs of jeans are so comfortable, no twedgies, implied or otherwise! I do think I made a mistake in the way I styled the Cicy jeans. This look really isn’t flattering (I know, Jodie). I did take the photos on the same day so my body didn’t change. It’s just the proportions are off, or maybe it’s the starkness of the black top. I did think about wearing the same top with both pairs, but I decided to style them the way I’d wear them. Let me just say, I won’t wear the Cicy jeans this way after seeing the photos! One other thing, I rather like how they make my butt look! I am weird and like a flat butt rather than being rounded.
And, the crown goes to…
Well, somehow or other, Amy and Kellyann are going to have to figure out how to split the non-existent crown because I like both pairs! And, I’m keeping both. I didn’t need either pair, but I can see myself wearing them over and over again. I do think I could wear the Cicy jeans to the museum as a docent because you could definitely style them to be more dressed up than jeans. But, that asymmetrical waistline on the Halaras is so daggone cool, that your granddaughter’s friends will, once again, think you’re the cool grandma! There you have it! I don’t think either pair of “jeans” really fit the definition of jeans. But, both pair would certainly pass a “Is it Denim?” test with just a passing glance. You look very good in both but most of all I love the hair! The blue with pink and purple is next level fab!
I think there is a time and a place for both pairs. But for me I choose the blue jeans.
I don’t know either brand. I really like the floral pattern.
Elastane is a synthetic elastic fiber, by the way. Ages ago, I used it in knitting cotton for the wrists of sweaters, for example.
The navy jeans are very flattering…the peach/black print not so much. That print looks like someone got on the wrong side of the barbeque or fireplace.
I think the same could be said about most jeans on the market nowadays; even men’s jeans all have the stretch built right into them and don’t feel like stiff denim anymore. I do like them though and don’t mind the extra give. That said I rarely wear my Halara jeans in the winter if I’m going to be outside since they just don’t feel very warm/thick anymore compared to the older jeans I’ve held onto. I really do like that color/pattern on Kellyann’s jeans and enjoy the asymmetrical zipper/waist of the Halara.
