Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Weeks 142 & 143!

I am so sorry for missing last week. I thought I had published it, but when I did my SIA post, I discovered I hadn’t. So, I will combine last week with this week! The weather here is gorgeous. I’m writing this on Wednesday evening. As of this evening, it feels like springtime outside. Honestly…we had snow covering our yard last week with huge piles at the end of the driveway. Today, there isn’t any snow anywhere in our yard! The forecast looks like spring and not fall. But, we are coming up on the end of February so Spring is just around the corner, right? Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I’m not sure about times right now, but I will still be aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Pauline from Happy Retiree’s Kitchen.

Pauline says her blog “is an interactive food blog, where I share my home cooked, delicious and sustainable recipes and tips. I cook simple food, aiming for a healthier lifestyle and a healthier planet. I hope you enjoy reading about our life here in Tropical North Queensland on the east coast of Australia. I enjoy cooking for family and friends, and sharing many stories with you including my adventures with food, our garden, and whatever else seems interesting at the time. Enjoy your visit and please spread the word and leave a comment on my blog post.” You can find her here, and please let her know we sent you!

This week’s featured blogger is Jana from Reviews from the Stacks!

Jana writes, “I started Reviews From the Stacks in 2018 as a place to share reviews of high quality books, especially lesser-known and potentially indie published ones, and to be a place for discussing all kinds of bookishness. I work in a library and have a BA and MLIS, so bookishness seems to follow me everywhere I go!

Outside of the literary world I enjoy peaceful hobbies such as knitting, music, and visiting every coffee shop I can find. I am a Christian, and I hold my beliefs and convictions seriously. Like any writer, my worldview permeates my writing. It also plays a substantial part in what I enjoy reading. I will never belittle or dismiss a book or person for presenting a different worldview, but I also won’t shy away from sharing what I believe and addressing (relevant) things that are problematic.

As of February 2025, I am accepting book review requests on a first-come, first-served basis. I provide reviews free of charge in exchange for a review copy of the book (digital or print). I will consider any genre for review except horror, but like all readers I have my preferences and reserve the right to reject a request if I don’t think it will be a good fit for myself or my blog readers. My favorite books are contemporary fiction, historical fiction, or anything that tackles “big questions” in life. You can learn more about me by visiting the following posts:

You can also find me talking all things bookish on Goodreads as Jana Henderson (Reviews From the Stacks), Instagram @reviewsfromthestacks and on The Storygraph @janareviewsfromthestacks

Bonus random facts about me:

  • I consider myself a vintage typewriter enthusiast, and my 1970s-era Brother Charger is truly a treasure
  • While I can both knit and crochet, I prefer to knit
  • I can play a handful of instruments, but the only ones I do with any regularity these days are the piano and ukulele

Thanks for stopping by!” You can find her here, and please let her know we sent you!
