Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 153!

I’m sorry I’m getting this out late. I was able to attend my youngest granddaughter’s orchestra concert! I’m always amazed at what these kids can do with those beautiful instruments. In case you didn’t know, an orchestra (at least at her high school) is made up of stringed instruments. More than that, I’m amazed at what the teachers can pull out of these kids! Beautiful music, simply beautiful! This week was also my oldest granddaughter’s birthday. I remember holding her soon after she was born. Precious memories of both my girls! Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I am always aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Arun from Jaipur Garden.

Arun from Jaipur Garden says: “Your mind is a Garden, Your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.” (attributed to William Wordsworth) Please pay a visit to Arun’s blog, and let them know we sent you!

  1. I am over in the Jaipur Garden a lot for Arun’s weekly linky – Garden Affair!

  2. Thanks for hosting Marsha!

  3. Oh yes, I am always so impressed by those concerts too! My oldest son’s birthday is/was this week too.

    • Thanks, Joanne! I’m just so impressed that one person can teach all those parts to all those students! Happy birthday to your oldest!

  4. My son plays the trombone and never practices at home, but surprisingly he does decently well. It is his first year. I am always impressed that the concerts don’t sound terrible especially those first year kids in 6th grade!

    • My grandson started with the trombone but dropped it. He was pretty good, but he just didn’t want to play. It’s amazing what those teachers accomplish with all those kids and different instruments!

  5. That brings back memories of my rather short violin career.
Have a great weekend, Marsha, oh, and thanks for featuring Freddie 😉

    • You are welcome, Cat! I loved that post! I really wish I’d learned to play an instrument. My son tried to teach me guitar, but my fingers just don’t move that way!

  6. Marsha,
    My Entries for today’s party are # 25, 26 and 27!!
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are enjoying your week and you are doing well…

  7. High school concerts are the best and how fun to see your granddaughter perform, Marsha! I’m sure so many memories were swirling through your head (and in your heart) as you listened! Thanks so much for the party! Another great gathering, as always! We’re sharing #20 and #21 today. Have a great weekend ahead!

  8. Hi, Marsha – My son played clarinet, saxophone and recorder, beginning with violin in the 5th grade. My daughter was a singer. They are grown now and don’t make music anymore. But they both have very accomplished careers. The days of music performances was so wonderful! Thanks for triggering good memories – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    • Thanks, Angie! I’m glad you have all those good memories! My youngest took trumpet and guitar lessons for several years. But, he is self taught on so many other instruments. He is truly gifted in the music arena. When he was in fifth grade, they were given tests to determine if band was for them. Then, we had to go to the school to see which instrument was appropriate. When we walked in and told the guy his name, he said, “Oh, I’ve been waiting for you!” He tried to talk him into French horn, but Jordan was set on the trumpet. Jordan still has a recording studio, but he’s had to move it to make room for his partner and her children. I knew it was love when he did that!
